These were the plants for us! We went to Sunshine Bromeliads because they offer a broad choice of plants from which to purchase. They have rows and rows of plants for $10 each - a better price than more commonly known nurseries! (They also have plants for $5 and $25 based on size and type.) The outdoor nursery has a huge area under a tarp for bromeliads that thrive in partial sun and another big area in the open for bromeliads that love full sun. Visitors can get design ideas from the garden area that has a bromeliad-lined koi pond, tree trunks festooned with bromeliad rings, clumping bromeliads used as ground cover, and bromeliads growing on fences, tree limbs, and in shallow rocks! The only thing more stunning than the hot pink, speckled purple, and striped leaves of the plants - or the multi-colored flowers from the bromeliad centers - is the customer service. This family-owned business is obviously a labor of love. We became fast friends with the owner and her family from the first time we visited (we've been back three times). During our visits they identified plants that would thrive in our yard. They always pack each plant for ease of travel. A few weeks ago the owner's daughter even gave me a tomato and pepper from her personal garden. And yesterday the owner gave hubby a birthday gift of a beautiful bromeliad in bloom! They speak English and Spanish and are open from 8 to 4 during the week and 10 to 3 on Saturdays. If you're like us, once you go you will rack your brain to think about where else you have room to plant more bromeliads! Hope you like the pics!

So I called as the website did say to call to make sure someone was there as hours can be intermittent. "Yes, we are open. Is that you in the car out there? Come right in!" I was a little dazed as a friendly man took me through the romantic veiled lighting straight to what I was seeking, a vanilla orchid vine (yes the plant that makes vanilla beans!!!). He had about 5 beautiful plants and said he could also provide a cutting. Meanwhile, I kept looking around saying to myself, this is a magical kingdom of orchid fairies waiting for someone to love them. I knew there was a treasure chest waiting to be discovered, but I almost didn't even know how to ask what all this stuff was. I asked here or that at a bizarre plant, but I didn't know how to say, I want to know what every single plant is! I want to make friends with them all! The nice man helping me was also very knowledgeable about the plants they carry knowing the requirements and particularities of the various plants to help you find what you are looking for and to succeed by buying the right plant for your lifestyle and space. I called him to make sure he was open prior to heading out. I drove all the way to Miami Gardens (which is the address listed on Google) to find out that his actual location is in Hollywood. After contacting him he tells me that Google takes a while to update the change in address and the actual address to his current location is listed on his website - fine. I leave it at that. Today, I contact him via phone to ask him if he is open and once he replies yes I continue on to ask for his address. Instead of just telling me right at that moment, he says I can find the address on his website. Once again, I ask for him to share with me his address to which he replies 'Sure' and hangs up. He then texts me to say that he found his address instantly and asks which address it is that I found and how I heard about his shop. I look at his website, click on the button that says 'Bonsai Store - Hollywood Location, Shop and Living art Studio' and GUESS WHAT! There's no flipping address listed on that page. In fact the only addess listed throughout his whole website is the Miami Gardens address that I had gone to in the first place. I send him screen shots of everything I did to find an address - any address really at this point. He replies with a text saying 'Today is a weiird day because I am trying to get a tooth pulled. Let me get back to you.' WHY THE HECK ARE YOU TELLING ME YOU'RE OPEN THEN?!?!?! Never again. I'll be driving down South from now on. Which is what I should have done in the first place.
