In Bolton for first time to the centre. Saw from a distance and worked way up to it. Saw it was very busy and so we went in. First class and fast service, very friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere. Having tried fish and chips all over the world, Olympus by far is the best! Not just because of the very high quality of (very decently priced) food, and their mind blowing home made tartare sauce, but because of their really high quality customer service. All of the staff seem genuinely happy to talk to you and help you, and even go as far as little things like helping you put your coat on when they see you're ready to leave. The owners themselves often are seen helping in the restaurant, properly hands on, and often chat to the customers, which is pleasant to see. Also, the venue itself is very pleasant. It's a proper restaurant rather than a "chippy" or "cafe", and is decorated in a modern but comfortable style, so it's bright and airy with nice modern furniture. It has a lovely atmosphere, often playing pleasant music, and sometimes even employing a pianist to play on the restaurants own grand piano, which is very pleasant when enjoying your lunch! read more

Semi self service to your table, go to the bar, order and pay atvthe bar, wait for the delicious food to arrive. Everytime I come to Bolton now, Olympus is my first visit. I do not understand how I lived in Bolton and walked past it daily but never went in is a shocking disgrace to me. I have missed out on a treat. read more

This place is split into two halves the 'take away' part and the eat-in restaurant. The restaurant is fantastic, it's clean, furnished nicely and it has ample seating without making you feel as if you've been crammed inside. The staff are attentive, polite and courteous really paying attention to good old fashioned customer service, just like it should be but in most places sadly isn't! Also their uniform makes them look distinctive and professional. The food is good old English chippy food and good at that. portions aren't overtly large however but will suffice and keep you ticking over until your next meal. THis is the perfect place to go for any occasion irregardless of who you're with and the massive cross-section of customers prooves this from families, to couple, people on their own and the elderly (they do cracking OAP deals) However, the only downside is the extortionate price and how much it has jumped up over the past few years, as in serious increase not small sneaking ones. In a word, it's 'expensive'. If you want a special treat this is the place but if you're feeling the pinch, i'd suggest getting takeaway (although in my opinion 55p for a barm cake is a bit over the top!) read more

This is a nice fish and chips shop situated near bolton train station. You have the option to eat in or take out if you wish which means you can put your feet up when you have had a hard morning of shopping. The chips here are more expensive than your average chip-shop, but mercifully, what you get here is a superior chip than anywhere else in Bolton. More crucially is the chance to sit down and eat your food from a plate. The shop front is attractive and up to date and it is a large corner premises. The shop is clean and the staff are very friendly and they offer eat in or take out option for your meal, the restaraunt is quite large and roomy. Cosy and warm. Service is efficient and, as I have already mentioned, friendly. The menu is good and prices are reasonable. The chips and fish are of a very good standard, one of my favourite chipshops, my husband often visits as he really enjoys the standard of food, especially the fish. I would highly recommend Olympus chip shop for a tasty treat, a warm and friendly place to visit on a cool day while shopping, or on a sunny day to take out. Olympus are a fish and chip restuarant with an ajoining take away. I have only ever used the restuarant part of the establishment and i wasn't dissopointed. There is lots of choice on the menu, including fish favourites and also other options for those who want some thing different. They also do a meal deal which is what i had. This includes: fish, chipd, bread + butter and a pot of tea. I cant remember the exact price but i remeber feeling it was good value for money and the homemade tartar sauce was divine. Having visited it after a twenty year respite (don't ask me why, I just never got round to it), was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. Went in the week before Christmas and despite the super busy restaurant, the hotel manager was doing his rounds, playing the perfect host. Having tried one chippy here in Bolton, we decided to try this one out since we were going to be close to the restaurant. I have always seen the takeaway buzzing, but had never been into the restaurant. It was fairly busy and service seems a bit hit and miss. The host seemed to be very good at charming the usuals, but the rest of the staff don't seem to share his enthusiasm. The decor is interesting... some parts dated, some parts seeming a bit more modern. It also seems a bit posh for the the fact that it is fish and chips. You can browse the menu at your table, but you have to go to the cash register to order and pay. However, they will bring the food to you. As we were looking at the menu, I was a bit taken aback by the prices. I think that this is the most expensive place that I have had fish and chips at. And I think the one that is closest to that price was an awesome chippy in London, but I expect that from London. They have different combinations, some of them including bread, some with mushy peas, but the portion size, while maybe a bit more manageable, doesn't really match those of my favourite places where I would pay about 5-7 quid less (and that is for two people). There are also other items on the menu if fish and chips don't excite you. The people next to us had pie and chips and a burger and chips. If you order fish and chips, you won't be waiting very long at all. I had just gotten back to the table after ordering and our meals arrived. I guess when the place is always busy, it means you'll get your food pretty quickly! The food was good, but it is not the best I have had. The chips were actually a bit soggy and not very hot. The fish was ok, but the batter just seemed like it was missing something and it wasn't very crispy either. I'm not a fan of mushy peas, so it wouldn't be right for me to try and evaluate them. Olympus is a great little takeaway shop in Bolton it looks good from the outside and is very modern inside. It is very inviting. The food is very nice in here and I come here quite a lot. The fish andd chips in here are really nice. The prices are quite good and you get big portions. It does get a bit crowded in here sometimes but always a great atmosphere. You can talk to the staff and have a laugh with them. They serve really nice foreign food in here as well like egg fried rice and kebabs. I will defiantly stay a regular here. read more

We have been going here for as long as I can remember. We have lived in Hale for 11 years and still can't miss a weekly visit 50 mile round trip and well worth it. Olympus is a fantastic fish and chip restaurant. We go here whenever we are in Bolton and from them opening the door and helping you with your coat (immediately impressed) to them bringing your food within minutes the whole experience is great. The prices can be a little expensive for the portion sizes however the quality is undeniable. During my many visits I have had tasted the teacakes, sandwiches, fish and chips and chicken and chips all cooked to perfection and have enjoyed the home made apple pie and custard, which was delicious. It's a great place and they even have a pianist to entertain you once a week! If you ever visit Bolton, you must check it out! read more

Very clean with lots of courteous staff. However on ordering a 'Pensioners Meal' I was disappointed to get a very small portion for around £7.00 with no peas. Very tasty and well cooked but miserly portions. Will not be going back to pay that price for such a small serving. read more
