I interacted with two staffers. One was great. The other one wasn't the best communicator, so I knocked my rating down to four stars. Markham has a new Healthy Planet, which is this one at the northeast corner of Woodbine Avenue and Highway 7. It is dubbed as the Markham West location, distinguishing it from the longtime one on McCowan Road, across from CF Markville Mall. This second location is where CanaBee Baby used to be. Before that, it was Michael-Angelo's, a grocery store that I still miss. I came here after work on a Wednesday evening. I scored a prime parking spot in front of D-Spot, which was directly across from Healthy Planet. I walked across the road and headed inside. I like this store far better than the original one. It has a cafe with large empanadas and samosas. I was impressed! You can get complimentary water by using the cooler. The catch is you need a water bottle or a cup. The produce section is also larger. I was floored to see whole organic watermelons going for $18 each. The older location didn't have enough room to house half the produce section here. This store is clean and inviting. Items are impeccably organized and labelled. I was mesmerized by the various drinks that this place had. I love drinks and there was so much variety that my head is still processing everything. I saw packages of tofu that were marked down by 30%. I decided to get the silken tofu. There was vegan chocolate on sale, next to the sugar-free varieties. I love that this place caters to dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan diets. It felt so freeing looking at Daiya dips without worrying about dairy in them. The protein and supplement sections are insane here. I was looking for something specific by Bell Laboratories. A nice male staffer asked me if I needed any help. I rattled of the name of it and he knew exactly where it was. I was close. He was exceptionally helpful. He let me know that he attended a training session with Bell Laboratories. He said that the tea version that I had picked up would be more affective than the vitamin version because I would absorb the nutrients in the loose leaf tea much faster than its capsule formula. Cool! I went to pay at the checkout. I got a female who seemed friendly. She asked me if I had a rewards membership. I wasn't sure. Healthy Planet used to be a part of Five Stars for its points program. I remember a man from the other Markham location telling me to cut up the card because Healthy Planet was going with its own system. I didn't know whether I needed to re-register. Anyway, the woman asked for my phone number. I gave it to her. She didn't say anything. Judging by her facial expression, I was in the system. It's the main reason why my rating is four stars. She wasn't the best communicator. She was talking to a male staffer while scanning my items. She said, "Please wait." To whom? After scanning all my items, she just stood there. I said that I'd like to pay with a credit card. "Please wait," she said. Oh, you were talking to ME. No eye contact. No reason on why I was waiting. An older woman came over. I looked at the screen with all my items. It turns out that she had charged me $2 more than she should have. I give her props for fixing her error. She could have communicated it to me. Embarrassed? Or are you a poor communicator? Why not tell me that? I would have understood why we were waiting in the first place instead of being a woman of few words and almost hating to open your mouth to talk to a human being. Once the $2 was removed from my total, I could finally tap and pay. I gathered my items. She gave me my receipt. I wished her a good day. She seemed better and reciprocated. I grabbed my items and headed to my car. I put them away in my reusable bag. I then headed home. The vegan chocolate that had coconut in it was excellent. I finished the bar just now. Delicious! Thank goodness it was on sale. I liked shopping here. Better communication about erroneously adding $2 to my total would have been nice. I would have understood that we needed to wait for someone more senior to remove it from my total. Eye contact about waiting would have helped me figure out that you were talking to me and not your male colleague. Just blurting it would without any eye contact was odd. I'd return again. I used to come here often as a child, so it really brings back nostalgic memories. Five stars for the bubble tea! My mom and I decided to come here and try the lunch bentos today. There's no sit-in area, so be prepared to either take out the food, or eat on the uncomfortable chairs and tables outside. She got a grilled pork bento, whereas I ordered the three cup chicken bento. Each cost $6.50. With their combos, bubble tea comes at a $0.50 discount so obviously we got a drink as well! To be very frank and honest, the bentos weren't worth their price at all. Some pieces of meat and a marinated egg came on a bed of rice, along with some boiled frozen vegetables (corn and broccoli, cauliflower, carrots). My mom's bento had very little meat, and mine had a more generous serving of chicken. However, my rice came doused with the three cup marinade, while my mom's rice was thoroughly coated in oil (kinda nasty). I typically am a huge fan of marinated eggs, but I found this particular one to be overly salty! Next time, I am definitely sticking to ordering only the bubble tea...

I have been a customer of this store for quite some time, and in the last few months, I noticed on…read morethree separate occasions that the price tags on the same item were different. I advised them of this issue. I guess nothing was done, because I noticed the same thing a few months later, on two other occasions in this store. Recently, I had purchased my usual items here, and found at home when I looked closely at the receipt, that the price of one of the items had raised about 8 dollars, in just 2 weeks. So I called to ask why the price went up. As usual, the same miserable sounding, somewhat rude employee picked up the phone. I was given so many excuses, and was told if I wanted to speak to the owner, that I could only do so in two weeks, as he was away. The employee advised me I could get a refund, but I was still disappointed. I called the other evergreen location on St. Clair Ave, and was told the same item was 8 dollars cheaper. And I called another health food store, and the same vitamins were 6 dollars cheaper. I really hope that this store is not deliberately over pricing items, and hoping that customers won't notice. Either that, or the person pricing the items is continuously making mistakes, and that is really not good for business. I have been told by other people, that they are noticing the same problems with pricing at this store. Unfortunately, I was sort of going there out of convenience, and didn't bother checking prices elsewhere until now. Right after I called the other St Clair Ave Evergreen location, the same evergreen employee that I spoke to earlier from this location, called me back. She indicated that there was a human error when pricing these vitamins, and that the price was back to the original price, and I could come in to get my money back for the difference. Hmm ok lol. From now on, I will be paying close attention to the prices in this store, and perhaps start checking the prices of these products elsewhere. I would have given 3 stars for this issue, but I took a star off, because of the attitude I received from the employee that I spoke to over the phone, from this location. Also, some of the employees are not particularly helpful at this store, no one asks you if there is anything you need, and I always feel like I'm bothering them by asking questions. On one occasion, I went into this store and this same employee that I spoke to over the phone, was talking incessantly to another employee, while I had to wait to interrupt and ask for help. Would it also kill them to crack a smile every once in awhile, and say "hello" or "have a nice day?." When I confronted this abusive man and asked why he treated his employees so badly over a minor mistake, he responded by saying, "You're shit, and I don't want you to come back." It was unbelievable to witness this kind of behavior in Toronto, Canada. I understand that mad people can be found everywhere, but his level of customer service was more like what you'd expect in a third-world country, not in Canada. I didn't touch my food and left the place immediately. When an owner treats not only his employees horribly but also his customers, it's obvious that his business is struggling and won't last long, and rightfully so. No wonder the café was nearly empty--who would want to be emotionally abused? Save your money and don't support this restaurant. Let his business die.

Every time I go into this place, it's empty and it takes them so long to make a salad. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time during lunch, so I've started using the ritual app, which there should be no wait and no line. You get there, pick up your order and leave. Well that's not the case. I not only showed up later than what ritual told me it would be ready (which is usually bang on) but I came later than the estimated time by ritual, and still had to wait another 10 mins for the salad to be made!
