Healthy Planet
Somya S.

I like the range of natural products they carry. If you watch for their specials, you can get as good a deal as at any other health food store. The location is central, walkable from TMU station. Take a look at their offerings and you may be pleasantly surprised.

Finally stopped into Healthy Planet at Yonge and Dundas and was not disappointed! They have a great selection of pantry items, supplements, beauty items (essential oils, lotions, etc), some fresh foods like dairy, vegetables and meat, and frozen goods. They also have a little take away kitchen, although I haven't tried it yet. There is a little seating by the kitchen as well. Staff were very kind and available on the floor. There were lots of sales - I'll def stop in now and again just to see what's on sale.

It's great that Nature's Emporium is slowly expanding and opening new locations in the GTA, and…read morethis one downtown is certainly a welcomed addition. Everything here is organic - from the produce to ingredients in the ready-to-go meals and products. There are a wide variety of homemade soups, pizza station serving thin-crust pizza made of spelt flour (including vegan options), various salads, and more. Note that the hot food bar is only open on weekdays (to serve the office crowd), but they have other great and healthy grab-and-go options. Weekend grocery shopping here is quiet and not as crowded as in most other supermarkets, making it a pleasant experience. I love the variety of products they offer - lots of high-quality, gluten-free, organic, and vegan products and brands that are not commonly found in most other mainstream grocery stores. There are bulk nuts, tempeh, hummus, and the biggest variety of plant-based milks and nut butters I have seen in any supermarket. The bags they provide for produce are compostable. They have tables and seating areas for eating, and a gender-neutral and wheelchair-accessible washroom. Limited-time parking is available in the underground private parking lot. You can get the parking ticket validated by the cashier.

It is located on the 2nd level on the 1 York St corporate building, not visible from the street level. For those who do not have too much time for cooking, hey they have warm food to go too. 1 hour free parking for over $60 purchase.

I have been going to Essence of Life for years - literally probably 16 years at this point. Which…read moreis crazy! They have never lost their Kensington vibe or decent prices! You can always find a ton of products in here that are better priced then other health food stores. Staff are always lovely. I stop in here all the time even when I don't need anything. They have everything from fresh veggies, to dairy (and vegan dairy), meats (and vegan meats), drinks, snacks, oils, bulk pantry items, household cleaning and toiletries, and a large supplement section. It's amazing that they can fit all of this in one seemingly small store!

I randomly was looking for rosemary oil because I saw a trending video by a dermatologist that…read morerosemary oil is effective for hair growth?! (do your own research). A natural way to promote more hair growth? I'm down to try. I am amazed this little store in Kensington has so many essential to trendy natural products at such reasonable prices. You'll find anything from natural deodorant to vegan nail polish, essential oils, natural beauty products, cleaning supplies, and a grocery at the back. Wow! I can see why they are so busy. It can be tricky to find things you need through all the aisles of products, but the staff knows where everything is when you ask. Purchased Neem oil 100ml (Unbranded) $5.99 Rosemary oil organic 30ml (Now brand) $17.99 Their Dr. Bronner's Castile soap is a great price compared to buying online through Amazon. It's always a great bonus to save money while supporting local.

One of the stores at St Lawrence Market. Walking past, I always wondered what fine foods they sold…read more This review is based off of their ready to eat empanadas. It is from a box and you can either buy the packaged box to go or eat one of their ready and heated empanadas. For $4, it was tiny and although tasty, the filling is barely existing. I chose beef and there was barely any meat, mostly just dough. Although understandable this isnt made by the store on site, but rather from a packaged box, sold in fours, and not sure of the cost of that, but hopefully its not 4 x $4 = $16, as it would definitely be a rip. The savoury pastry gets 2 stars from me plus 1 for the nice lady serving the empanada and allowing me to use card to pay. If you want a SMALL snack and really like dough, then maybe try this.

The empanada was very tasty. Service was horrible…read more We stood in front of the empanada stand for 5 minutes while the lady put more food on the grill not even asking us if we wanted anything. We asked if we can get an empanada and she said you have to pay inside. We went inside, paid, and were directed back to the empanada stand by the gentleman behind the cashier. The lady was not back at the empanada stand so we patiently waited for an empanada (there were no other customers at the time). After a few moments, another couple walked in, bought an empanada through the same gentleman, to whom the gentleman then escorted back and served an empanada. We were already taken aback by what happened. However, expected him to then serve us, he removed his glove and proceeded to walk back to the cashier. We had to stop him and ask if he was going to serve us...
