Very unhelpful with anything administrative, financial or disability wise. i was basically left on read long enough for them to charge me for classes instead of using fafsa and the financial director stopped responding to any email replies we sent. Nursing program: Unsupportive of students, especially during the challenges of Covid. Administration is not in sync with instructors to the detriment of the students. Really can't get their act together on many levels. Ranging from spelling "nursing" wrong in the acceptance letter (first clue), to violating their own learning contract, to zero policy and procedure. read more

The college is not the sort of place students get sentimental about, but if you can't get into any school of your choice, you could do worse than Olympic. But all I want to review here is the Fireside Bistro. It's a wonderful hidden cafe on campus, with fireplace and extra special Friday feasts. Breakfast is only from 8 to 10 am, and offerings range from basic to oh my isn't that fancy. Menu changes to lunch at 10 with a whole different array of choices. You gotta get there before 1 pm as they do close early. The quality has varied from year to year. Previously it was one of the best little restaurants in Bremerton, a real dream to take out-of-towners to. It's not THAT good presently but it's still pretty darned good. The menu is in continuous flux and sometimes what they have is superduper. It was also dirt cheap in the past, priced so even students could afford it. But nowadays both the Bistro, and the basic cafeteria, are tragically expensive. I presume some funding got cut, and hungry kids and teachers had to pick up the slack. I would not generally recommend the cafeteria though the hot-table isn't notorious cafeteria food; the culinary students do try to design interesting daily menus, but it still has to work on a hot-table, and it can be too limited, and they forget about the vegetarians on campus too often. The Bistro, though, is worth checking the on-line menu (at the Olympic College website) and if it sounds good then it will be good, and worth a trip over there even if you're not a student. read more

I've studied in this college's ESL class before and Steven was a great teacher and everyone loved him. But when we leveled up and went to other classes, another teachers were the worst. We hated her (PS and RS), so we quit. They always looked down on us and acted like a queen. Actually they're literally Karen!! She (PS) was so mean and just took it out on us for no reason all the time. So I'm really happy that I quit this college. They never helped at all and only thought about their own convenience. They were very very selfish and unprofessional at all. They should be ashamed. But Steven is the only awesome teacher. But the other teachers were terrible. I don't recommend this college ESL at all. We had the worst experience in this college. read more

It is cool to have a community collage in town. I believe the main goal of this place is too rake in as much cash as possible and network their programs into any institution that will buy in. This review is for the Veterans Office. I had so much difficulty trying to work with them, their advisors and transferring to any University with through their lack of experience and understanding made it so much more difficult. They didn't think certain things would qualify through the VA. I had to call EvCC V.O. and the VA to get a real answer. Based off of prior community colleges and a university that I've attended, i'm rating their services as 2. I did enjoy their registration and a few of their advising staff. The main buildings were updated but the V.O. staff had me running everywhere to where I just decided to go a different route. Frustrating* read more

I've been to a number of 3 community colleges in my time on this rock - and this one is pretty solid. As mentioned in a previous review, the campus is intimate and fairly modern on the whole. The older buildings are well maintained. From one year of experience here, the professors are largely solid, but do yourself a favor and check them out first. The class sizes are conducive to the learning environment. Being an older gent and living nearby, I don't hang out like I did in the past, but the student center seems up to the task. The cafe leaves a bit to be desired, but then again it is a college cafe. The study rooms in the library are very useful for group study sessions. As a previous reviewer mentioned, parking is crazy. They just added a new parking lot that should help a bit, but I don't think it's large enough to alleviate the issues - I would recommend finding a spot early. read more

This is actually a review for the student store on campus, and not the college itself. I have an awesome tip for artists! It's worth going to the student store here for artist supplies! Buy your art supplies here, as opposed to any art store in the Kitsap area. They are cheaper! We were looking for drafting templates for artists and they were half the price the other stores were asking. Most all the artist supplies were half of what the art stores were asking. For example, the circle templates we were looking for were anywhere between $10-$14 dollars at Michaels, Jo-Annes, and Artist Edge. Here at OC, it was $6. Pencils were only $.85 to $1. At the art stores, $2-$3. I can't speak for everything else in the store, but for starving artists out there, can't go wrong. read more

Pretty good looking campus. Classes tend to be close together. At least in my personal schedule. I do wish that the cafe had better coffee and at least one more barista during the rush. Also, the bookstore just doesn't offer competitive prices. I was able to find all of my books at least 50% cheaper on Amazon. They were available for both purchasing And rentals. read more

For the associates degree that I am going for I have only heard people rave about the graduates and that the OC puts out the best qualified people in this field. read more

I don't care what everyone says, I love OC. For a community college they offer many certification programs, a huge variety of classes, and many degree options. The campus is brand new and well maintaine. The library is GREAT. Parking is a disaster but that's as can be expected. The area offers a wide range of students all with differing career paths and goals- I think it provides the perfect college experience. As well, teachers are flexible and friendly. I recommend it. And the nursing program is highly credited and competitive. read more

This is not a review of the college itself (Which is a good place to start your engineering education nonetheless--thanks, Doctor Jeff Brown, you really did prepare me for big-girl engineering school!) but rather for its cafteria. With Garlic Jim's gone and Badda Boom, Badda Bing ALSO gone..... The cafteria in Olympic College is the last place left south of Silverdale and north of Port Orchard serving edible pre-cooked pizza in Bremerton. Go there to get pizza for lunch, because you might as well go to hell if you go anywhere else in the town, except to actually, you know, buy one from Papa Murphy's and cook it yourself. Just trust me, the school has a culinary institute, and it really is the best pre-cooked pizza left in Bremerton. read more

My first year there was really good. I did great in all of my classes, figured out what I wanted to major in and learned more than I did at the previous colleges I attended. My 2nd year at Olympic was bitter sweet. I was done with all of my required courses to graduate and transfer by the summer of my first year, but the math classes kept holding me back for one more year. Since then I have been accepted to a couple of colleges in NY and will be transferring to one this fall without a AA degree. It's a good community college. A lot of WA state community colleges are much better than let's say the ones in Texas. Word to the wise: if you are a science major and have to go through the whole chemistry series, don't do it here unless it's the only thing you are doing. Compared to other colleges, including WWU, the chemistry department here is extremely challenging. For some reason they either have a very difficult professor throughout the whole series, or you can get an awesome adjunct faculty member but they will only be able to teach you for one class out of the series. The chemistry professors here vary in teaching styles and homework, but most of all, the tests. That is the majority of your grade after all. I don't know why they are doing this in their chemistry department, it truly is a clusterf*ck of random professors with random teaching styles along with very high expectations. If you are looking to complete the whole chemistry series (I'm talking general inorganic/organic chemistry) go to TCC. Save yourself the time, money and the heartbreak. It truly is just not worth it. Also do NOT, I repeat do NOT take a math or chemistry summer session course. They only recently reduced it down to 6 weeks and the professors and the students are suffering from it. Most of all, the students. I say this because you need the 10 wks to fully grasp the information for these courses such as gen chem and calculus. As for humanities majors, nursing/ allied health degrees, go for it! Flowers, the allied health chemistry professor is a wonderful, pleasant man. He is the only professor out of all of the chem department that decided to stick to the 8 week chemistry course. What a great guy! read more
