I was a student here at OHS and graduated in 2025, I just have to say, a student named Chase O'Brien (musty dusty white boy who thought he was a gangster even though he's.. really not.) and a science teacher I had there made my experience worse. Firstly, Chase would constantly bully me to the point where I thought even breathing a wrong way would trigger him. And the thing is, I have autism and he went for me, why? because I was different than him. Second, one of the staff here, (earth and science teacher) has been absolutely terrible to me, she'd make me redo a project so many times, then had the nerve not to congratulate me for working so hard, in fact, THE PRINCIPAL HAD TO DO IT FOR HER, which made me feel terrible as I've been stuck in that class after school to work on it with her and I at least wanted her to be somewhat proud of me, but no, the principal had to do it for her which made me feel absolutely terrible, so I'm glad I got out of that class and never looked back. I've been wanting to talk about Chase for a while now, but I never found the courage, but now that I'm out of the school and I'm sure some of the staff and students have forgotten about me, I can FINALLY say this. So, if you're a woman (students have said Chase treats women like trash.), have a mental disability, are a different gender identity besides from the male to female binary, or are just simply existing, STAY CLEAR OF CHASE, HE'LL BE YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE. Olympia High School - Toilet - Middle Schools & High Schools Near Me - Olympia, Washington

We were purposely trying to buy a home in this school district when we moved here. What a mistake. I can say that there are a handful of helpful, wonderful teachers and counselors. However, this school is full of students who love to be offended about any tiny thing that doesn't fit into their mold. And the administrators are all too eager to punish students to make sure everyone feels "safe". And I'm using the word safe VERY loosely. And if you ask to see the video evidence of your child doing what they're accusing them of, you will be forbidden and told to appeal. When you ask how to appeal, they'll tell you they don't know and refer you to Google it. I could go on and on about the discrimination against a certain group of people, but I hope you get my point. That said, if you love to look for things to upset you and you want your sensitivities to be catered to, or you're raising children you'd like to never really be functioning adults because they just can't deal with any sort of disappointment or hurt feelings, then this is the school for you!! read more

My old school. I was class of 2011. Fun school, awesome staff while I was there, at least.

While the staff has an overall genuine concern and care for the students, the classes and grading system are extremely outdated and are tailored toward only one type of learning style. Over 70% of the schools students are unable to understand what they're learning due to the teaching style (auditory teaching style). Many of the students fall behind or end up dropping out. Most of them have turned to alternative coping options; drugs and alcohol. The reason as to why the school has such a high rating is because of their test scores, but as I said before, the majority of the students that would bring down that score either drop out or turn to drugs and alcohol. The amount of pressure that the staff puts on the students when it comes to, specifically, tests, is absolutely ridiculous. The amount of students that have GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) is so monumental that it's not surprising when a student talks of suicide. The school does not see mental health as an important and very real thing. The school has also had many classes of sexual assault, sexual harassment,sexism, bigotry, homophobia, and an immense amount of racism (especially from the conservative students). Which the school has also brushed under the rug and ignored for decades. The students that commit these atrocities are usually sent home with a slap on the wrist, while the victims have to continue to walk the halls with their abuser. But what the school lacks the most is diversity. There are only around 20 students of color, and one teacher of color. I myself have never had a teacher of color while attending and have found most of my classes and textbooks to be whitewashed. I do not recommend attending. read more

They suck I was denied my High School education by these people the IEP people need to be more understanding of people with high functioning autism. Mrs Macnelly is a bully and so is mr. Soninstall I was told I put them to sleep with my writing because I gave them to much detail. They never taught me how to write the way they wanted me to I had to go to study hall the detention room to get help. Mr. Soninstall used to tell me i looked retarded for steming and pacing. He would stand over me arms on the desk and shake his foot like he was mad at me it allowed me to feel intemadated. There are a great many good teachers that are understanding there but there education for people with independent educational plans could be better. Mrs.Krueger was amazing they're were many classes i could have passed including here's if I didn't feel the heat on classes that weren't helpful like Mrs. Macknellys and Mr. Sonenstahls class they didn't teach me anything Mr. Sonenstahl didn't have the time he had to many kids in different things in his class it didn't help his assistant had narcolepsy i loved her but I really needed its to bad they didn't put the time into me the way I did for them with my math and writing i could have used my time better on my other school work i loved history and honors drama, science. I was expected to do math out of a book without any educating from the math teacher. read more
