Do NOT recommend. Arrived by ambulance at ~9 PM on April 3 with heavy stoma bleeding (approx. 400 mL visible). Over the next 3+ hours in the ER the following occurred: * Blood work was drawn but never processed * IV fluids were not running for over an hour * Promised CT scan was never ordered * Patient was left completely unmonitored for long periods while in critical condition * Seen by multiple doctors/residents/medical student with no actual treatment started * Multiple HIPAA privacy violations (sensitive medical details discussed openly in hallways) Extremely dangerous negligence and poor care. This is a busy hospital. Getting admitted from the ER to the hospital is a process. This is a busy ER taking care of a large volume of patients with differing levels of trauma. At one time, this Hospital officed excellent service.Being in Healthcare myself. I can honestly say, this has been the absolute WORST experience, from the call center, to the staff I've ever experienced. The Orthopedic department Staff is horrific and this is AFTER, complaints have been filed. Do not trust these people with your care. My 92 year old heart patient mother in ER was misdiagnosed with covid, they had the wring results given to her from another patient. I still tried my own care with Orthopedics. With awesome insurance these people are extreme unprofessional. do not go here they need to SHUT this facility. DOWN!!!One star is overrated!!! Totally unprofessional! Let me start by saying I have read bad reviews but I will tell you the care my Mother received was above and beyond what I expected from the ER and every other place that took care of her. We had Savannah doing X-rays she was so kind, Katie our nurse in the observation unit was amazing, John our Social worker took care of our needs. I was in the Er for Hypertension. I also had pain in my neck and a headache. The gave me pain meds and sent me home. The next day I was still 226/89. Went to immediate care. They told me to go to the ER. So there I am another whole day trying to get treated. I will never go back there again. read more

Due to a medical emergency, I entered the hospital on the weekend of July 18-21, 2025. Upon entering for triage I was greeted professionally & the medical staff was very attentive. Ms Denise Cabell(maybe CNA) took excellent care of me. She has a rather friendly & warm personality. She showed concern for me as a patient. Thank you I was admitted to the 2700 Unit within a couple of hours. I was also cared for by Ma Denise as well as a 2nd time by Ms Cabell when I was placed on the unit. I have small, rolling veins but the Phlebotomist Tabitha took care of obtaining blood within minutes. What a wonderful job she did! The GI Specialist were great & attentive as well. At the age of 1 my kid decided to jump on the bed and what do you know!!! She falls off the bed and breaks her arm. Nonetheless the staff Took great care of my kid till we were referred to a specialist. They wrapped her arm till the visit. Even after all the trauma my STRONG baby still had a smile on her face,! She was always a happy baby. And by the way kids bones heal way faster adults! .Fast and properly it healed! (2021) read more

the therapist is good, but the scheduling department is the worst, most inept, idiots that have ever found gainful employment. Worse when you complain about the issue they just gas light you and try and either blame you or the insurance people even though it's always their fault. I would never go to one of these places again and it's sad because the staff that does the therapy is great. However, the stress of scheduling and dealing with them will only hurt your progress. read more

She is giving me the best care ever, didn't even think that I am a pain in a b patient for being a hard stick. She's been patient with, emphatic and makes me feel that she really does care about me. As I write/type this I am currently a patient here at St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields, Illinois. I was brought here to the Emergency Room on the night of December 13th 2024 by paramedics from Frankfort Illinois Fire Department. I asked to be taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox but they brought me here instead. It was about 15 hours I believe before I was admitted to Room 2509. The care that I received while there was poor to fair at best. The nurse that was assigned to my room the night of December 18th, Adelina, has No Business being a nurse. She was constantly in a rush to do everything that was needed for me, not truly providing an ounce of quality patient care. As you can see in photos that I took, I ask you; Is this how an IV should look on a patient? This IV was put in me i believe on Sunday, December 15th if I'm not mistaken. Today is December 19th. This morning my nurse emptied the bedside urinal that I used numerous times throughout the night, into the sink in my room. 100% Gross . That's when I asked to have the "Charge Nurse" come to my room. Judging by this experience, I do not recommend coming here for your medical/healthcare needs. read more

This is a one-stop medical center for anything that afflicts you. The center is connected to Franciscan Hospital. While under construction, there's still plenty of parking spaces. Same day appointments are available and wait time is minimal. The offices are larger enough for practicing social distancing,hand sanitizer, and face mask are provided. I often find the staff professional and often changing. My only concern is that when an intern accompany the physician into the room he/she is introduced and get the patient's consent for observation. read more

I would never recommend anyone go here, for any reason other than to practice their waiting and patience skills. I was there for 10 hours waiting to be seen. Then when I got back there to the doctor, he asked about my symptoms as if sitting there for 10 hours would have not made things thousand times worse. By the time I saw the doctor if it was a real emergency we would have been planning a funeral. There is absolutely no reason to have to wait 10-12 hours to see a doctor. Due to Omicron virus, Jan 26, 2022, the entire Franciscan Health Professional Building, 3700 203rd St, was closed. I consented to having a phone visit on said date with Dr. Marie Baird, Family Practice Physician. Baird advised me to go to Franciscan's ER for tests same evening, Due to private insurance cost on ER visits, I was advised by Baird she was putting the tests in as 'stats,' which would not be considered an ER visit charge with insurance company. Needless to say, Baird denied she advised me she would ordered tests in system as 'stats' so there would not be an ER charge! Victoria, Service Excellence Coordinator, Franciscan Alliance Business Office did not reversed ER visit charge. I am smart enough to know, if I did an ER visit what ER charge I would incur if it the outcome would not result in an overnight stay or more. Furthermore, who goes to ER for tests and leave without a conclusion from the ER doctor? I left, after asking, were all my tests completed that Baird ordered? There wasn't a definite answer from the nurse at ER desk; nonetheless, I felt I completed what Baird wanted given the phone visit earlier in evening. The above should not be surprising to me regarding Baird's action. I dismissed her as my PCP last year due to a very similar interaction with the ER as a new patient. Without going into details on that occasion, seems as though Baird has an obsession with sending me to ER under a ruse. Upon obtaining a new PCP, away from Franciscan Health, Baird had the audacity to contact new PCP and then had her nurse to call me. I guess my good sense had diminished to had retained her as my PCP again???? Good Riddance Baird! read more

Franciscan Health Olympia Fields emergency room doctors are not customer centered. My 85 year old mother with dementia was diagnosed by the ER doctor with an acute UTI. She returned to the ER two days later in excruciating pain because she won't take her medicine. She was in the emergency room for 15 hour. They didn't offer her water or food. The next day she was taken to another hospital's emergency room where she was treated for severe dehydration. They admitted her and started an I.v. to treat her UTI and dehydration. My husband went to ER with leg edema, barely sat down and taken to ER room. Nurses and Doctors were great! Had many abnormal labs. Was transferred to room, floor Nurses were wonderful! Transfer to ICU same night due to problem. Nurses were great, Transferred to room 2333 next day. Care was given by Shari R.N. and Agatha RN during day. I thought they were wonderful! We have used this ER three times in 12 months for different issues. Speed of seeing an ER doctor seemed appropriate based on the reason for the visit. That's where the positive ends. 1. The doctor who saw my adult son didn't run any tests just listened to what my son said was wrong and gave him medicine. Sent him home and the bill was $2,500. He was there less than an hour. 2. My husband was admitted and they ran tests but didn't figure out anything except to tell him to see other doctors. That bill was $30K. 3. They were upfront they couldn't treat my daughter and would need to transfer her. They did run a couple of tests and did a lab. Waited 12 hours for a transfer. $8K for the visit. Its the only ER in the area and it's sad this is the option we have. read more

Came here sat at 12:30pm for what I told lady at desk was I had very low BP, palpitations and my legs, and stomach were hurting bad. I have congestive heart failure and sometimes I need to go to er , but my hospital of choice Christ in oak lawn is far and er wait is 18 hrs sometimes. Never had EKG done, instead they did cat scan of my stomach and kidneys. Told them twice that I'm not here for that. Had blood work done and nurse stabbed her self with my needle. How does that happen? So I waited 3 more hours so they could do hiv and hepatitis blood work and all this time, never had my heart checked. So at 8:30pm I left, and will never be back. They literally forgot about me, cause nurse stabbing her self was more important. People hated the Chicago Heights campus, but at least er wait was fast and I got great care always. read more

type of care terrible i called the paramedics when my boyfriend fell and split open his newly amputated leg. in the er the dr couldn't stop the bleeding i told him my boyfriend needed a surgeon that the wound could not be stitched by the er dr. the er dr went and called the surgeon and he said the surgeon refused to touch another dr surgery.the er dr kept trying different things but without surgery the bleeding wasn't going to stop. i told the dr that my boyfriend needed a blood transfusion and he said he didn't think so and that he would test his blood well it never got tested.the dr wrapped the leg up and sent us home. needless to say my boyfriend bleed to death, i couldn't wake him. i'd love to find out the surgeons name that refused to see my boyfriend.that hospital needs to pay read more

This is the absolute worst hospital you can ever go to! The doctors are so rude and don't care about there patients. I spend my entire day here with excruciating pain, a rash and serious health issues and was given absolutely nothing nor was I prescribed not a single medication. I've heard lots of negative comments about Fransican but my dr Leonard Robinson SPI is very attentive and thorough. He listens to my issues and advises, suggest, order tests, etc to get to the root of the problem. I hear horror stories about uncaring inept drs and glad I have a good one! The ER was not organized and it was very uncomfortable being called in several times while others never got called. Once admitted I had a comfort room to myself but when I needed something which was like once out of my stay it took having my call light on for 25 minutes. Also the food is the worst out of any hospital I've ever been in. You can order Grubhub or whatever but you'll be billed for that burger patty and carrots that are over boiled and water logged. This hospital is also a teaching hospital so you see about 20 people a day which should be 5 or so at a normal hospital. I'm definitely going back to Advocate. Sorry sistas read more

This emergency room needs serious intervention ASAP! I visited on a Thursday afternoon with a very serious issue and after waiting 3 hours, decided to leave and seek treatment elsewhere. Apparently there were people waiting for treatment 7-8 hours who still had not been seen. In the 3 hours I waited, only two people were seen. You cannot call yourself an emergency room if you are not treating the sick and injured in an urgent fashion! This place is a lawsuit in the making if they don't change something soon. read more

Came in to the ER for chest pain- sat for over 6 hours to only have blood work done. Waited over 5 hours to hear results on blood work. Rn nurse tried to do my blood work all over again and tried to redo vitals and etc because she could read the report and pay attention. No one communicates well nor do they know how to work. One person has been called back from waiting room in the last 2 hours. What is seriously going on with this location, the only reason I gave the one star (besides having to since that's the lowest). What an improvement!! Let me start out by saying environmental workers NEED TO BE SALUTED!!! You can't say thank you to the nurse if you haven't said thank you to environmental workers, lab techs, CNA's and so many of the support staff. Nurses have improved on the responsiveness in treatment of patients. I've Over the years have seen more of a unit of working together to achieve the goal of treating the patient.
