So grateful for Olo Acupuncture! My family and I have been going to Yuka for years. This past year, I have been going more frequently as I'm healing from a knee injury and my sessions with Yuka have been integral to that healing process. We have done a mixture of acupuncture and cupping, which has been incredibly effective for my knee healing and for other issues that I have gone to Olo for. Yuka is deeply experienced and gifted, she is also very intuitive in her approach and has a very peaceful energy that instantly puts you at ease. Shortly after my knee injury, I also had some very helpful and healing sessions with Tracey as well. I am usually someone who prefers a private room (which Olo does have) but I find the community setting at Olo so peaceful here and love the option of having my treatment in either their incredibly comfortable reclining chairs (especially helpful for when I've had a head cold) or their massage tables. As an intuitive counselor, it's been so vital for me to engage in my own self-care and my sessions at Olo are a vital part of my own commitment to taking care of myself. Based on all the positive reviews, I was so excited to find my new acupuncture spot. Unfortunately I had a really bad experience, and I will not be coming back. For starters, the place is really difficult to find and they don't bother to tell you that they are in a large building up on the 10th floor, and there isn't even a guide in the lobby. I had to stumble around into a bunch of other acupuncture places. By the time I got up to their office, I was totally winded. Because Jane is mentioned all throughout, I assumed she was going to be my acupuncturist. But instead I got paired with another person who seemed less experienced. I knew this from the way she put in the needles, it was extremely painful, so much so that I could only tolerate 2 of them all together. You might think this is because I have low pain tolerance, but that is not at all the case. Just last week, I had acupuncture done in California and a bunch of needles were placed, it was barely any pain. The person who did my placement was very experienced and comforting. So at Olo, I ended up paying $120 to lie there with literally 2 needles on me. The horrendous low back pain issue I came into see was not only not at all alleviated, but made worse by the stress and anxiety this place gave me. As I was lying there, I realized I was getting 0 or maybe negative value out of this, so I buzzed to ask for a few minutes of cupping. I had to buzz many times for the person to finally come in, and she did do a few minutes of cupping. Had I had her full attention and she wasn't working on a bunch of other people simultaneously, maybe she would have also come to the idea of offering me cupping instead of me asking for it while in treatment (if you can even call it that). read more

Yuka did wonders! I cannot express how happy I am with my first experience here. I came in due to strenuous workout and strained my shoulder.. I often go to my personal naturopath for acupuncture but I was desperate for an mediate appointment. Having a community style space allows for regular appointments and no need to book far in advance. Not only did I completely relax, but yuka sent me home with some heating pads. She also administered cupping as well!! This place rocks! I will be back within 3days.. Just had my first appointment here -- 4.5 stars! My acupuncture is covered by insurance so I can't give details about $$. However, had a great consultation and experience with Dr. Jane! When I arrived, Dr. Jane was running ~15mins late so that was probably the more frustrating part. However, when I met with her, I loved how attentive she was in documenting and listening to the issues I had and what I wanted to work on health-wise. After that, she talked to her thoughts about it. The initial consultation was about 20minutes. After that, I was placed in a private room (I requested a private room instead of a communal one) where she did a tongue & pulse analysis followed by the acupuncture! The actual acupuncture didn't hurt much and I loved that she checked to see if I had fear of needles and mention what kind of initial discomfort is normal. I was in the room for a total of an hour (and of course, I passed out) but I appreciated that she checked in after 15minutes to make sure nothing was hurting before letting me sleep for another 30mins. Finally she came back and asked if I had to be somewhere or if I wanted to relax another 10-15mins (which I did). I left feeling great. Overall, love how attentive Dr Jane is, loved her very little pain on the needles, and I also appreciate that she double & triple checked that there were no outstanding needles in me before letting me head my way (FYI -- it is common in my experience that Acupunturist sometimes do forget some needles in your body!) If I had any complaints (and they're so minor), it would probably be 1) the slightly delayed start and 2) after the tongue & pulse analysis, I wish Dr. Jane would share her findings. I had to ask her if there were anything concerning. But once I asked her, she did a thorough job explaining. read more

I've experienced other practitioners also and would vouch for all of the staff. The place is always well kept, super clean and they clearly have a real reverence towards their practice. I've been coming on and off to Olo for a few years for help with forearm pain from RSI (repetitive strain injury) from years of typing, swiping and scrolling on a laptop, lower back, neck and shoulder pain. Yuka has been wonderful, attentive and knowledgeable. I really appreciate that it's a quiet, calm and soothing environment. I've had individual acupuncture which costs so much more per session. There were times when the pain felt really bad, and acupuncture provided immediate relief. In combination with physical therapy I was able to reduce pain significantly over time. Great place. I bought an introduction package which I thought was a steal and highly recommend. I came to this place with many digestive issues and they provided immediate relief as well as a longer-term plan. Certain acupuncturists were more gentle than others and some more effective--at least with instant results. Yuka is the absolute sweetest though. I love that they let you sleep for as long as you need--I ktfo most times. Although there have been occasions when someone is snoring loudly and no one can relax. The only downside is the lack of continuity in administration. Receptionists often told me different information and sometimes attempted to recharge me for large amounts I had paid or claimed I owed them money. That said, I still fully recommended this place to all of my friends and actively encourage them to come. read more

The staff was really warm and friendly. However, unclear whether they have procedures for high standards of care. After my session, I asked the receptionist if it was normal to have pain at the needle points after the session. She said yes. I get home, a few hours later, and find that a needle in my shoulder was still in my shoulder! That's what was causing me pain when I was moving around. I came here and used a Yelp deal. I had been wanting to try acupuncture for years and finally gained the courage to do so. I don't know what I was so afraid of because when I did it, it wasn't scary at all. I had an acupuncturist guide me into an office and give me an initial assessment, asking me to fill out a form and talking to me about my problem areas (i.e. aches & pains, allergies, etc). Then, I was guided to the acupuncture room. Open area with acupuncture tables and reclining chairs. Very comfortable and soothing environment with calm, quiet music playing. I chose an acupuncture table to lay on. When the acupuncturist inserted the needles, they did hurt a bit, but the pain went away in a few seconds. After she was done placing all the needles in the needed spots, she left the room. I didn't feel much of anything within the first 15 minutes, but then all of the sudden I felt extremely calm & sleepy. I dozed off. I woke up a few times, but remained sleepy. At the hour mark, I felt refreshed and somewhat antsy. I didn't think that I would try acupuncture after this experience just because it didn't really wow me, but I've been doing acupuncture ever since & now I experience calmness during and after every treatment. read more

This was my first experience with acupuncture, and I came with serious back pain during my second trimester of pregnancy. I found the prices reasonable (I did the 5 session intro pack) and the overall atmosphere relaxing. Although the heater was turned up way too high during some sessions -- did I mention I was pregnant? Anyway, I love love loved Yuka. So patient and talented. The acupuncture didn't end up solving my back pain - finding a good chiropractor did that - but I would still reco during pregnancy bc it offered some short term relief. Took away two stars because I fell asleep hard during my last session and a different acupuncturist removed my needles and *forgot one in the small of my back*. I realized once I was out on the street and had to turn around to have it removed. Scary experience and wish they had some system in place to prevent this from happening - Id read that this happened to another reviewer. I'm a fan! I came back for my second appointment today. It's a bit scary at first if you've never had acupuncture before, but fear not! You are in good hands with the practitioners at Olo. I came in due to back pain, likely caused by working out and moving too quickly while using weights. It had been bothering me for awhile, but one day it just got much, MUCH worse, to the point that it hurt to sit in the office and bend over to put on socks in the morning! I have gone to chiropractors, gotten a fair share of deep tissue massages, and it never seemed to do much, but make me more sore. So after reading all the reviews of various acupuncture clinics, and finding Olo right in the neighborhood, I had to give it a try. My first appointment, I worked with Jane, we had a brief talk about what was bothering me, and she told me very clearly what she was going to do: 8-9 needles in my hand (Eek!), a few in my arm, ears, and feet. It sounded a bit terrifying, but I she had a very calm and friendly air, and I trusted her. You have the choice of sitting in a la-z-boy chair or face down like at a massage parlor, but for purposes of this treatment, she wanted me to sit in the la-z-boy. She told me my hand was basically equivalent to my back, so even though my back hurt, we would be putting no needles in the back, because we didn't want to irritate the already sensitive back muscles. There is a slight poke when the needles go in, and if you're not relaxed, it hurts a bit, but it fades pretty quickly. I had a hard time relaxing and didn't fall asleep, but eventually relaxed and drifted near the end. My hand was a bit sore for a few minutes after, but I did feel my back was a bit better at the end. A few days later, my back started acting up again so I came in tonight with Yuka. This time I was face down and she put needles in my back, my six in my butt (!!), two in my feet, two in my hands, and even one on top of my head!! She was wonderful, and very attentive. She probably could tell that I was feeling a bit tense, so came in every 15 minutes or so to check up on me, which I really appreciated. I fell asleep this time, and just let myself relax even though I was extremely aware of the needle sticking out of the top of my head. 30 minutes later, I got off the table, and bent over to pick up my purse, and WOW my back felt so much better than when I first arrived! I don't know what Yuka did, or how she knew the exact right spots, but I can say I'm pretty much converted. Acupuncture managed to do what doctors, chiropractors, drugs, or masseuses could not. Lovely option for accessibly-priced acupuncture with quality Healers (Erika was phenomenal, staff are welcoming, and the 10-sessions for $500 package is a steal, especially since it includes an 11th complimentary session AND a complimentary massage, and you have six months before it expires). Good option for those who are beginners at acupuncture. Not a good option for those sensitive to surrounding energies and disturbances while they're working to physically and Spiritually align (hence the 3-star rating, as I am amongst this group, and am still working to realign myself after last night's treatment). But I highly recommend giving them a try if you are not amongst this last sensitive grouping. They are clean, thorough, welcoming, and have a true team environment going on. I truly felt that they were willing to give me full time in my initial evaluation, and they checked back as often as possible to attend to patients. Just know that, though you may be ready to end your treatment, you could end up waiting 5+ minutes before one of the staff see that you're ready (no fault of their own; this is simply a side effect of this type of environment). I highly recommend Olo. I've been there twice so far and will be back! Matthew, who's there on Saturdays, knows exactly what he's doing and is caring at the same time. He's also very aware of musculature, joints, etc. so he knows what to recommend for injury recovery, etc. It's like having acupuncture, physical therapy and meditation in one! :) I've been to other acupuncturists in the past, and so far this experience has been far superior. It's great for stress, so much so, you don't notice there are other people there :) Everyone else who works there is lovely as well, attentive and sincerely caring. I was feeling really stressed for the past month or so and decided to give acupuncture a try. I'd never done acupuncture before and after reading and doing some homework online I purchased a Yelp deal to Olo because of the good reviews. The environment is very nice. So far I'd been here for 3 times all with Yuka. Yuka is very patient. The environment is very relaxing. The first 2 sessions I didn't feel much of an effect, but after my 3rd session, I started to feel the effect. Remember any holistic approach is tuning your body into a balance through time. Wish I had found this place at the beginning of my 4 month work trip to NY. I have my set routine in LA for "healer" types, but I found about Olo via Yelp and went to try them earlier this week and was really pleasantly satisfied. The energy in the space is really great, and the attention I received was very personal. I felt like Yuka, her intern, and Susan at the front desk were all trying to help me on a personal level and cared. Their facilities are very nice, and they have computerized forms and are very well set up. For the price, I thought the place would be teeming with people with very little personal attention, but I went around 1pm on a weekday and received a lot of care. Jane is a miracle worker. I pulled my back lifting weights while in NY for work and by Wednesday, I could barely move - and was worried about surviving the flight back to LA the following day. When I called, they managed to squeeze me in same day which I was SO thankful for. All of the private practices I called were double the price and required an extensive consultation. I must mention that I've never been very consistent with acupuncture and have never treated an acute injury so I was thrilled to feel relief immediately following the needles and cupping performed. I write this 48 hours after that session and followed up with another session today back in LA and feel about 80% healed. Yuka is not only a highly skilled and effective acupuncturist but also a wonderful, caring person who is a pleasure to interact with. My first acupuncture experience was with Yuka in February, 2010. I was referred to her by a friend who has since stopped smoking due to her treatments. I had severely sprained my ankle, and the soft cast from the podiatrist wasn't helping me heal very well or quickly enough for my 5-month stay abroad. Furthermore, I have been dealing with neck and back discomfort from all-day computer work, like so many people these days. I also grind my teeth at night and have a very tight jaw. When I met Yuka, I immediately felt comfortable in her positive, calm presence. She was thorough with her exam, explained the whole process, and addressed all my concerns. The actual needling was not painful at all, just a new sensation. She was extremely gentle and patient, and I notice that my body has conditioned itself to handle more and deeper needles, when necessary. My ankle is back to normal, and I continue to exercise and strengthen it. During and after each session, I feel a significant release in my neck, back, and jaw, which lasts quite a few weeks. I love laying down on the table and falling asleep while the needles do their work. I often come out of her office feeling ridiculously happy and relaxed, like my body has been given new energy. Obsessed with acupuncture. I have never had it done anywhere else so I cant judge. I had a bad sprained ankle and 8 days in I still had a lot of pain. My Dr recommended PT but I could not get in to see anyone for weeks! A friend mentioned acupuncture but to be honest it seemed a little hocus pocus for me so I ignored the recommendation. I woke up on Sunday morning in pain and desperate and thought, what could I lose. I came in and met with Janelle who was very nice and non judgemental. I told her a lot about myself and she listened and made some very logical recommendations. Then I went into the communal room for my session. (the consultation happens in a small private room but you get the actual needles in a larger communal room). I felt SO much better just after the first session that I bought the new customer 5 pack for a little under 300$. I have been twice in the last week and it is already helping other things in my life (sleeping better at night, less anxiety etc). I dont agree with one of the other reviewers, I am usually very sensitive to other peoples energy/presence and I was very worried about that. But I have fallen asleep during every session! Last time I could not believe I was there for over 2 hours! If you need to be somewhere or would like to leave at a certain time you can let them know. read more

Great Place. I love the open atmosphere, which is much more comfortable than being poked with needles while sitting in a doctors office. It's a really great deal relative to other options that accept insurance (provided your insurance covers this procedure), since it is about the same price as a copay. I can also use my flexible spending card and save even more that way. They also use perkville, so you can accrue points for free visits with referrals, testimonials, or simply showing up for your visit (12 visits = one free). They use mindbody for appointment booking, which makes it super easy to book an appointment online, without calling and dealing with the hassle of booking an appointment without seeing everything that's available. Jane is fantastic and down to earth about it - I go to acupuncture in hopes that needles in my flesh will bring white blood cells to the injury site and help in healing it; I don't subscribe to the crunchy granola perspective of auras and spiritual mumbo-jumbo as some acupuncture practitioners do, so it's nice to know that the person impaling me and I are on the same page. I've been going about twice a month for a year now being treated for tennis elbow onset by a computer intensive job. While i'm not cured, I have seen a benefit from acupuncture and will continue to go as long as I continue to injure myself while working. I have TMJ and associated headaches/muscular pain and had been wanting to try acupuncture for a while, but was always nervous. I wanted to make sure the place was reputable and clean. None of my friends had done it so I was on my own. I saw the Yelp deal for Olo and after checking out the photos and practitioner info on their website, I decided to try it out. It was a great experience. Everyone is extremely friendly and accommodating. The acupuncture is done in a communal area with a bunch of reclining chairs and massage-type tables. At first I thought that might be odd, but everyone basically is asleep once they get their needles put in, so it's not uncomfortable. I went for six treatments and based on that I determined that acupuncture can definitely help TMJ symptoms... my muscles were looser and I overall had less discomfort. It is $40 a session, and they do not currently accept insurance. I felt that it was worth the money for the results, but doing it regularly on a long term basis could be expensive. So I will definitely go to them for maintenance and if any serious issues pop up. If you're looking to try acupuncture, Olo is a great choice to see if it is for you. read more

I visited OLO with the intent of it becoming my "go to" for acupuncture. I called to make an initial appointment with a charming interviewer who help me pin point my goals. I had provided all the insurance information however they never processed it until after the second appointment. First visit was great! On my second appointment they explained the insurance coverage and prices (not before confirming my appointment) and so my initial private room was downgraded to the crowed room which was cold with air conditioning. Second visit - second class citizen. I had gone back twice looking for a invoice and there wasn't anyone to speak with. My two visits were in Jan 2018 and guess what... I just received the bill today Oct 2019 via email. Just an email bill of $105 with no explanation or apology until I asked for one. AND second class citizen...the invoice was incorrect! They had to tell me over the phone. 2 visits were $185 as I received some kind of "discount" who knows what they're doing. They don't! Hello and good-bye...It's ridiculous. read more

It definitely did not fix my back pain but it helped me with a lot of emotional stuff and release a lot of tension I didn't know I had. I was an idiot and twisted my ankle on the bus. My foot slipped and twisted off the ledge of the seats on the bus that are elevated. Instant, burning pain. I had a golf ball sized bump on the side of my foot. I had to get off the bus and hail a cab home. Being super Asian, I could almost hear my Chinese grandmother counseling me to get acupuncture from her grave (RIP grandma). I found Olo through yelp, and decided to go. When you first walk in (at the time, I hobbled in), the atmosphere just feels super calm and relaxing. You are offered a cup of tea and asked to fill out a comprehensive survey on a giant Mac computer screen. My appointment was with Yuka and she was so knowledgeable, calm, and welcoming. When I went in, I literally could not put weight on my foot. But during the consult, Yuka stuck some needles into my hand (where it's supposed to correspond to my foot) and I kid you not, with those needles in my hand, I was walking around, with minimal pain. She was trying to figure where the pain was centered without actually touching my tender foot. I went in for two treatments. After the first treatment, there was still some pain (maybe a 6 down from a 10 in terms of a pain scale) but I could walk, which was a definite improvement. After the second treatment (about three days after the first) I was considerably better and even went back to Bikram that weekend. I would highly recommend Olo for anyone looking for acupuncture. I think the best thing about this place is that it's just honest treatment. As I was leaving, I half expected someone to stop me and attempt to sell some acupuncture package that I didn't need. Nope. While gathered my belongings, the receptionist instructed me that I probably shouldn't go dancing just yet, hoped that I would get better soon, and bid me farewell. read more

I initially came to Olo to get treated for anxiety (being a 3rd year law school student isn't easy). However, anxiety recently became the least of my problems. During the summer, I play softball. Last Sunday, I hit a ball in the infield. I ran to first as hard as I could. As I stepped on the base, my foot slipped. I landed on my right knee. I had to leave the game. I literally limped to the bus stop. The pain was so bad that I almost needed crutches. I could barely walk up the steps of the subway station. Even something as trivial as taking off my shoes was excruciatingly painful. The timing of the injury couldn't have been any worse: my first day of classes was on Monday. I limped to New York Practice class. After class, I called Olo and set up a same-day appointment. I told Yuka what happened. She stuck the needles in my arms and right knee. Like many people said, Yuka is amazing (she is my future wife...kidding). I slept for about an hour. When I woke up, she told me that Epsom salt helps alleviate inflammation of an injured joint. She also encouraged me to see a doctor (I don't think it is necessary, but she probably said it as a legal disclaimer). After the first acupuncture treatment, I was still in pain, but I could at least walk up the steps of the subway and up and down the hallway of my school. Three days later, I had another session with Jane. This session was also helpful. I slept for 2 hours (since it was a Friday, I was not in a rush). I would've stayed longer if I didn't have to get up to use the bathroom. I'm still not 100%, but two acupuncture sessions definitely facilitated my recovery. The needles still hurt and the price is still expensive, which is why Olo is a 4, not a 5. If price wasn't an issue then I would come here every week. read more

Pain relief in a peaceful atmosphere. Three different therapists treated me on separate visits for back, tricep, and bicep pain related to a pinched nerve on the left side of the neck. All the therapists were gentle and precise and the acupuncture treatment eased the pain considerably. I've been going weekly for two months. Hands down best place for acupuncture in the city. The space is automatically calming and very, very clean. The communal room is quiet and Olo plays some of the same non-cheesy meditation tracks I listen to at home. Fantastic service! I normally see Yuka for my treatments, but have seen Jane as well. Both ladies are great at what they do. The atmosphere is inviting, warm, and relaxing. This is a communal clinic, so you will see people passed out, but will find yourself in the same exact position during treatment. If you have never tried acupuncture, you must. What a breathe of fresh air when I arrived Olo. It's by far the best accunpuncture service I have ever been to. Attentive staff, relaxing environment and overall just very clean and comfortable. Love Olo! Everyone is so nice and Yuka takes her time to really listen to you to make sure the acupuncture is tailored to your needs. The place also has a very homey and comfortable vibe even though it's very clean and sleek. Love how as soon as you enter the door they also greet you by remembering your name. I read the reviews before purchasing the Yelp deal for my first acupuncture session, and I was extremely curious to find out what communal napping lounge would be like. After filling out a very comprehensive survey and sipping a spot of tea, I met with my acupuncturist who did not laugh at me when I asked her to fix my left eye twitch, back pain, and allergies. The communal space did not bother me at all. Granted, I was face down and couldn't see anyone anyways. The best part about Olo is that they encourage you to lay there until you feel ready to move- they don't kick you out in thirty minutes- they encourage you to naturally fall asleep and wake up refreshed. My upper back was still a little tense when I woke up, so Jane asked if I was open to "cupping". I was (mainly because I heard Gwenyth Paltrow did it). Ten minutes later, it looked like you could set up a beer pong game on my back, but I felt much less tense.
