More often than not, I shop when I need something. And admittedly, I frequently shop online for convenience and cost-comparison purposes. Unless I am looking for something special... I relish in finding that special little something for friends and family, that item they didn't even know existed that will bring a smile or a warm fuzzy feeling or a hearty laugh. Artifactory, now sharing a roof with Sewciety (perfect match), is such a shop. Only a handful of shops *spark joy* the moment I think of them and this one tops my list! Artifactory has a truly unique selection of very reasonably priced items I am unlikely to find anywhere else and the owners make you feel extra-special because they remember the little details, your likes and dislikes. They have a beautifully curated collection--a blend of local and non-local items--old and new, practical and quirky, unique and creative. My spirits are lifted when I walk through the door. I feel a bit like a I did as a child looking through a favorite relative's hope chest or exploring all of the treasures in my grandmother's home imagining what my home would look like when I got big. Nostalgia and possibilities comingle. And every time my gaze rests on an item I acquired at Artifactory - that vintage map framed on the wall, the 1937 yearbook from the school down the street from my home, my "protest socks" my husband bought me for certain civic matters, or the locally made jellies and sauces that taste so amazing, I am grateful for this little treasure in Downtown Norman. I initially called Tulips when gift shopping for a friend undergoing chemotherapy. They do not do…read moredeliveries (although they will post a package through USPS) and I had a particular day in mind for my friend to receive her gift so... I went with a different company who assured me that my gift would arrive on time. When that company failed to deliver my friend's gift I called Tulips back and went on a virtual shopping spree over the phone. Meredith walked me through tons of products and made recommendations for a self-care package and then assured me they would send it out in the mail that day. I can't say enough nice things about how lovely Meredith was. I received a phone call from Maria (another employee) the following day with an update. The postal service had not arrived to pick up the package so Paige (another employee) personally drove the package to my friend's home which is just outside Norman. With all the sadness and madness in today's world it meant so much to me to find this unexpected treat of a shop where you are treated like an important friend. I went to their small display in a market in Moore and now they've opened their very own store in Norman. Two Hip Chicks also display some of their cute items at Victoria's Pasta in Norman. The two ladies that own the store I met last year at the OKC fairgrounds at a craft show. I've special ordered items as well as bought items that are already made. I live in Northern CA so I haven't had a chance to actually go in their new store so I must plan a trip to Norman to visit the store.
