They are well stocked for the most part. Not always up-to-date with books needed for programming but of course for more $ it's available online. Not practical for me. They won't ship to store with the same pricing but don't carry what's needed aside from it being online. They have a few hard chairs and two larger chairs that need to be refurbished since the guy who seems to be there daily is always in one. They have lots of seating at the huge Starbucks in the store which takes up a large portion of the store. Seems like it could be managed a bit better. Overall it's a 3 star experience and not much better. read more

Its been a few years, but I'm writing the update. They have actually stepped up their game in the coffee department. Its a nice change and they're all professional and friendly, and they know how to make coffee. I don't know what changed, but I'm glad it did, because before it was bad. I work for a small municipal library and we always purchase books from the Norman location. It's a great store with great customer service. The only thing that made me give it a so so rating is the temp. in the store. It is always so hot in there that it makes it hard to shop for any length of time. It has been this way for years and years and when you say something about it you always get the same answer, we're working on it. Well I'm not sure but I think after years it should be working. Maybe a new heat and air guy would help. read more

We were searching for appropriate Christmas gifts for a 5 year old boy who has mild autism. After misleading purchases on Amazon, I found myself thinking of my "go-to" place for children' gifts - our Barnes & Noble store in Norman. There were many selections that I'd read about that would be appropriate - and I bought almost all of them! The young man had never been to Oklahoma and was so excited to be finally getting here. What did I find? A book about the Night Before Christmas in Oklahoma! We all signed it, and when he opened it, he was ecstatic. I found hand puppets, special puzzles, etc. I love you, Barnes and Noble, and your coffee shop, where I always buy a warm cookie and a cup of coffee. Your shop is my all time favorite destination.! read more

Pretty average chain bookstore. Don't ask for anything you don't see because if it bothers the staff to assist, you'll receive no help. I can't help but notice how quickly they all seem to pass the buck when they don't have something I've asked about. I get the idea I should be grateful to be in their store and keep quiet. Also, they've just begun to offer wi-fi, but I have to say that too is not much to be pleased about. Slow, cantankerous and apt to fall off; and good luck trying to log on with a smartphone. When I asked the staff about that last, they told me it must be 'ATT or something' and that was the end of it. All in all, a so-so store with complacent, self-satisfied and unhelpful staff. This location is in need of updating but I like it. I'm not sure why people are complaining about it not being kid friendly. There's an entire kid area in the back. Maybe your kid is being loud about the Star Wars display and needs to keep it down. Either way, a nice balance of quiet and courteous is preferred with other guests. I use B&N as a quiet getaway. I walk the entire store for new, exciting reads and finds. I usually end up in the magazines and hanging out in a comfy chair. No complaints here. read more

It's clean, organized, and even has a nice cafe with a bunch of goodies such as cheesecakes, cookies, muffins, and other pastries. They also serve sandwiches and of course lattes and other beverages. The restroom was clean when I used it and there's even a cute little kids section for the little ones! read more

This is one of the best Barnes & Noble books store we visited. Workers are so helpful and taking their time to show us where the book is located. We will continue to drive 30 minutes to visit them again. Love it! read more

2 stars for this store! First, I called to see if this store carried a new recipe book. The lady on the phone put me on hold and got the book to put it on hold and I told her I would be there in a few hours to get it. She had explained that she would keep it up to 3 days and took my personal info down. I walk in with my kids and my friend and her kids. We stopped at Starbucks for a cup of coffee and some sugar cookies. Our kids were enjoying themselves and we're not being disruptive. A snooty brunette comes over as she sees my about to leave and asks me if we are heading out. I explained we were leaving the coffee shop, but we were going book shopping. Then she proceeds to tell me we are too loud and we could only shop if we were quiet! I'm confused, we're not in any way disruptive. This is a Sunday night at 7 p.m. And we are paying customers about to go shopping! Did they forget that they have a kids part of the store? And kids are expected to come into the shop? I I shouldn't of bought the books but I went to the front to pay and grab my book that was on hold. Make matters worse, the lady never put my book on hold like she said and I had to wait 10 minutes for them to find another! I will never be shopping at this Barnes and Noble AGAIN! THE ONLY REASON I GIVE A 2 STAR IS BECAUSE THEY ACTUALLY HAD MY BOOK IN STOCK AND NO ONE ELSE DID. read more

I was in search of the latest issue of Inked magazine. Target normally carry them, but I guess not in OK. Anyhow, I walked in and was welcomed by the discount or featured books in the corridor. Then you walk straight into a display of Nooks! The visual merchandiser's and store planners sure know what they're doing! Now normally, B&N's have their magazines to the left of the store, but this location had them on the right. I wondered to the left side of the store first and was welcomed by a plethora of pop culture collectibles. You can purchase nick nacks from Doctor Who, Tokidoki and even those deformed looking vinyl dolls- I can't remember the name of the actual brand, but you can get them in different Marvel/DC comic characters etc... Awesome magazine as always. Every category is marked. Missing a few fashion mags I normally like, but ah well. They also have a good variety of language books. I almost bought one to learn Chinese. Yes, I am not fluent :P So why the A-OK? I didn't really see any store clerks. Anywhere. While I was in the magazine section only one magazine on the shelf kept falling over the shelf. And I mean this wasn't just one falling down and that's the end of the story. It was a waterfall cascade of magazines falling with a loud flop to the floor. If I hadn't known any better I would have thought a little kid was sitting there and throwing the magazines on the floor! Normally, I would be the one sitting there cleaning up the mess, but I wasn't feeling it. Everything else was nicely organized however. This incident won't stop me from shopping at this book store. read more

When I called looking for a specific "hard to find" book the associate who helped me was polite and efficient. She found the book in a matter of minutes and placed it on hold for me until I was ready to come in. read more
