We're a family of book lovers, so the two of us thoroughly enjoyed exploring its shelves and talking with the owner. As others have noted, she's knowledgeable about the books she has, she's friendly, and she prices her books very reasonably. I was looking for books on WWI for my husband, and she quickly found a newer one I knew he did not yet have. Then she went to her basement and found a vintage book that I thought I recognized from his collection. She suggested that I photograph it, then call her if I wanted her to hold it until we visit again in a couple weeks. I'm definitely taking my husband to this store when we go see our niece in a theater production. And what a wonderful community advocate the owner is! She said she'd be closed on Sunday, but that my niece could leave a poster for Hiram's theater production in the store's mailbox and she would hang it in the door. And here, I haven't even mentioned the wonderful variety of books which are so well organized!

They receive new books frequently, and carry an impressively wide array of books, especially for such a small store. Prices are great, owners are friendly, and it's even got a pretty generous loyalty program. The only downsides to me are just standard stuff. Sometimes you'll buy a book and sometimes the inside will be full of someone else's annotations. That's happened before, but it's just a risk of buying used rather than new. Same goes for potentially not having the specific book you're looking for. These are sort of universal problems for used book stores though, and are well worth it for all of the benefits. Absolutely worth your time, especially if you live nearby.

It was great to see kids play with puppets and stuffed animals. Some children played with books while others read. We just happened to be present when author Jowan Smith was reading to children. We really enjoyed the readings, and the children were engaged. The Starbucks worker passed out vanilla drinks to enjoy while we listened. We will definitely return soon.

We were there to get some baby books for my newborn nephew, and then I spotted their vinyl section. The final section seems to be growing and growing and they actually had a really good selection. I was able to snag an album for my daughter. And then I saw the DVD section. The DVD prices are on par with Walmart and Target. With exception though the DVD I wanted, yesterday, was about $10 more than amazon.com. Knowing that I would probably forget to order it I went ahead and bought it even though it cost $10 more. they do have a member style club where you save about 30% on your purchases but you have to pay $25 to become a member but it ended up being a net gain for us says we overall saved about 6 bucks with a discount and having to buy the membership. The kid that work there did a pretty good job of helping us find our movie but it is a tad pricey.

This bookstore often makes it to "must visit" CLE bookstores. Selection: Mac's has a wide range of literature from the timeless classics (think Jane Austen) to modern lit (think Emily Henry). There are three levels of books with genres ranging from romance to history. Each category is well organized and labeled. It's definitely the store to find eclectic reads on specialized topics. You'll also find new and used books, greeting cards, pretty journals, bookmarks, bookish totes, and other accessories at this store. You can order everything that you can't find at checkout. I historically purchased nature-inspired reads, and today Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" for my book club. It was a gorgeous and compact version for $15. Who doesn't love a compact book that you can take everywhere? Service: Service is consistently very friendly. They always ask you if you found all your reads in a genuine manner. I really enjoy my interactions with everyone at Mac's - employees and readers. Events: This book store hosts very interesting book events for the community. Open air poetry readings, silent readings at nearby Phoenix Coffee, haikus and meditations, book clubs, and other gatherings are hosted here. Check out flyers at their store or their Facebook page. I previously visited their event with typewriter printed poems for Valentine's Day and had a ton of fun! Parking: City parking garage is available across the street (free parking).
