I was greeted just as warmly by Deb, the shop owner, who chatted with me as I browsed. She's got the level of attentiveness just right-- she's lovely and engaging, anticipating customer needs (like offering the fitting room, if you're looking to try on their cute selection of vintage clothing) while also giving you room to explore the gorgeously-curated boutique. There are quirky, fun details to be found in every corner. I've learned pretty much everything you see is fair game! Even antique pieces I was sure were display only, like vintage thermoses and framed art. All affordably priced. Stationery, slim beeswax tapers, canvas pouches, unique kitchen/home goods, retro posters, knicknacks, vintage accessories, and so much more. I'll be adding photos, since words can't convey the array of awesome to be found here. Even better is it's pet friendly! Bring your furry friends. I know I'm going to visit as often as I can to make up for not discovering this Ithaca gem sooner! What makes the vibe immaculate is the shop staff, especially the owner! This happened this year, 2026. I commented often before this past year, complimenting customer service. This year, when I tried to enquire about my free freight coupon, I was rudely told that it was a once-in-a-lifetime deal. I argued it was listed on my rewards dashboard with no caveat. The rewards program was changed; I assume after new ownership. The program reduced customer rewards. I decided to be cautious with future purchases. I am certain that in 2027 I will lose my platinum status--their loss, not mine. Several of their ceramic, handmade pieces can be purchased on Instagram and other sites for a significant cost reduction. The products are made in another country. My associates tell me the product is the same, but the value of the original hand-painted ceramic treasure plummets. Mackenzie touts their ceramic products as "collectors' items". The consumer decides on the longevity of a product. Think about toys, baseball cards, dolls, sterling silverware, and other products that have not held their value. M-C may suffer the same fate, especially if customer service is abysmal.

It's similar to those stores but entirely home goods, as the name suggests. The store is huge and has everything from furniture to decor to seasonal items. I had fun looking through the shelves, but my only complaint is that the shelves aren't entirely organized. The store is organized by section (kitchen, office, living room, etc), but the shelves within each section kind of just have a bunch of items on them for you to sift through. This could be a plus or minus, depending on what you're looking for from a shopping experience. And what a delight it was! It's a really lovely and welcoming shop with plenty of plants, books, meditation or yoga supplies, bedding, prints, and more. With a focus on eco-friendly products, the prices aren't necessarily for the budget conscious, but you can rest assured that the quality is there. The staff here are happy to help, but also let you wander the store without being overly pushy or hovering. I got into a conversation with one of them regarding some of the plants they had available - and she was quite excited to show me a new plant that she had just learned about. I ended up buying a couple plants (among other items), as I had managed to find a cebu blue pothos tucked away upstairs, as well as a white princess philodendron on display downstairs... both of which had been on my plant wishlist for a while. TL;DR. It's probably a good thing that I'm not on The Commons often, because it'd be very easy for me to spend way too much money here (especially on the bedding items, as I'm a sucker for comfy blankets and all that). That said, I'm definitely adding Home Green Home to my list of favorite Ithaca shops. Highly recommend it!
