I was sharing my finds at an Antique Store in Houston with a fellow employee. The employee…read moresuggested I visit the Antique Warehouse on 25th Street in Galveston, Texas. I had just gotten off work at 2 pm on Wednesday. I made two stops before I arrived at the warehouse. I was disappointed when I read the hours listed on the door and the sign said closed. As I was walking back to my vehicle I heard a loud banging on the door from the inside. A man opened the door and invited me inside. I told him I thought they were closed. The man said you can come on inside and take a look around. The man's name was Scotty, and he was the owner of the place. Let me tell you this, Scotty gave me the tour of a lifetime. Scotty was helping a gentleman who had recently bought a church in Galveston, and he was converting it to a wedding chapel. We talked about St. Patrick's Catholic School. A school I attended as a child and what a shame it was that it was going to be demolished soon. The conversation took a dramatic turn when Scotty asked me if I had heard of the movie The Green Book? I said yes, but I hadn't watched it. He said neither did I, but do you know what a Green Book was? I said yes, I do it was a book that listed where Black People could eat and sleep during times of segregation in the South. He said correct, and then he asked whether I knew I was standing in a place listed on the Green Book. I told him no, and then he said well follow me. I followed him excitedly like a little kid. I don't want to give too much away but let me just say this: Scotty took me on a million-dollar tour that involved stories of Orphans, The Roaring 20's, World War 2, Brothels, Speakeasys, Peep Shows, Movie Theatres, Ghost Stories, and more. So, I would suggest that if you have time visit Mr. Scotty at the Antique Warehouse located at 423 25th Street. Galveston, Texas, and tell him Malcolm, who works for Galveston County, sent you. Regular hours are 11 am -3pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Don't forget to ask about a tour of the place. I promise you won't be disappointed. I'm a Galveston Native and I had never heard the stories he shared with me, and I've lived or worked in Galveston my entire life.

UPDATE - this owner has commented below that I wrote them a" bad check"...you can see on the photo…read moreI attached that I actually paid with a VISA and also they charged me (over the phone/ in advance) for a $50 delivery fee and asked for my cc#. Again, no accountability, unethical & lacking integrity. trying to make me look bad to cover their mistakes. Horrible customer service, no accountability for their mistakes, & no concern that a customer was extremely unsatisfied and felt mistreated. #1 - I have the original order form (dated 4-6-17) where the sales person wrote down 1 swivel/glider chair..... I was delivered a swivel chair but it wasn't a gilder. They also gave me the original invoice with lines scribbled thru certain words & a new invoice rewritten (date 4-27-17 ....21 days later) minus the word "glider" . Needless to say, I called when it was delivered and the owner offered no help or recourse. She just kept saying "that's the chair you ordered. " Well, that's the chair THEY ordered ME but it's definitely NOT THE CHAIR I ORDERED! (Oh & by the way, I made it a point to ask when I purchased everything that if there was a problem at delivery if they would guarantee it or replace it & the owner and sales person assured me yes of course they would! So, Im stuck with the chair and the owner and staff show no concern or remorse! Not to mention the patronizing rude tone in the owner's voice. #2 - I was told numerous times by several staff members and locals that delivery was free but 2 days before the delivery date they called and asked for my cc# to cover the $50 delivery fee that they had recently implemented! I was NEVER told about this until the phone call! I questioned this and they were determined to charge me and justified it by saying "all the other stores charge $150 delivery fees."  I'd like to let the owner know that "all other stores" have INTEGRITY & honor their word and don't show favoritism to certain customers and not others. Avoid this local mom and pop shop.... it's definitely run like a novice business where customer service is not an emphasis.

I strongly recommend not to do business here. There are other places that offer the same and better Coastal decor , that actually care about the customer. In the small selection of random coats, shoes, and handbags in the boutique there is some amazing finds! There is easily designer goods hidden in between the random goods. They have a wide variety of China and home decor that looks fresh out of a garage sale but some of it's cute. It can be s hit or miss depending on whose volunteering.

A very reasonable & inexpensive resale shop!…read more There is lots of glassware, GLASS! It is towards the back thru an open door. There is chairs, rocking and still. Washing machines, pillows, picture frames, children toys, shaving clippers still in the box. The clippers looked as if they were donated wholesale, it is a whole plastic bin of it. The clothes are not so hot! Mostly older clothes for elderly people and it is pretty packed together. Laminator machine, for $15, vintage projector $5, playstation controller&cable $3. The books are 4 for $1. A mannequin might greet you when you walk-in or the owners terrier. I didn't much of a greeting or talk from the owners themselves. The parking is on the side of the building. It is parallel, not very wise if you want to turn around and leave the way you came in. I saw a couple of people trying to do that. Lol! If you have trouble you can always drive behind the building to leave. Fishing gear does go fast here! A very affordable resale shop in Galveston always taking donations for good cause!
