Seasoned perfectly, fried perfectly, and honestly just one of those dishes where you take a bite and immediately know they know what they're doing. I made the rookie mistake of coming in right before closing, so they were out of a few things--including the black rice. But that white rice? Better than 90% of the rice I've probably ever had. Haitians make the best rice. I'm willing to die on that hill. And what made this visit even more memorable was that it wasn't just about the food. My family had the legume, white rice, rice and beans, and sos pwa. This time I tried their griot. The legume was old and smelled a bit sour. The plantains were dry and hard to eat and the rice was not flavorful. The griot was not prepared correctly. Traditionally the griot is seasoned and cooked stovetop before frying immediately after. It seems they cook the pork and then leave it sitting until it is ordered. I can understand the logic. The issue is that it looks like thy air fry it which makes the dish lose it texture and flavor profile. The meat was soggy and didn't taste fresh. I waited to try again before posting a review, hoping I would have a better experience. Unfortunately, it wasn't the case.

They have a $12 lunch special where you can choose between jerk chicken or creole stew chicken, two sides and a can of soda. I tried the jerk chicken and it was delicious. The chicken was flavorful and the rice and peas offset the spice from the chicken. I also got a side of plantains. They had a nice flavor and crunch. Don't expect fast service everything is made to order so give yourself some time if you decide to order .
