Stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn which advertised a made to order breakfast for 10.95. Went down to the restaurant to find out price was 12.95 for a buffet that was slightly and I mean slightly better than a free continental. Avoid breakfast here much better options considering the price to value. Dinner here was decent. Three stars to reflect serving a mediocre buffet without other good options in what was a suppose to be a top rated restaurant. Dinner was good. Breakfast is a no-go. read more

Olives has amazing food and cocktails. Their noon buffet is my favorite (and I don't normally like buffets).

I am not sure I would put my name on every item on the menu for that level of quality... I had the beef and chicken kebab and the chicken was actually nicely marinated and moist but the beef was hard and flavourless. The hummus served with the pocket bread was overly loaded with lemon and quite acidic but still edible. The pocket bread was nothing to write home about either, clearly mass produced and coming from a bag. The worst item though was the so called Massad aioli which was so loaded with vinegar to be completely overwhelming the food. Service was attentive and discreet but honestly for the price charged, it was quite a below average experience. People who give it 4 or 5 stars clearly have never had the chance of enjoying a top notch Mediterranean restaurant and their incredible gamut of flavours. If you are stuck at the Hilton, it will do, otherwise look somewhere else. read more

We found this family owened restaurant will passing through town. Everything on the menu sounded good but because they have a lunch buffet we opted for that, especially after seeing the selection. The food was excellent (fresh and flavorful) and the service was great. Has a very nice atmosphere and a good amount of deserts to choose from. Price was better than I expected. It s about managing expectation. You are likely not going to find the authentic Italian food in this small restaurant. I compare the foods quality to those in Olive Garden. What you will find here is a little bit higher end of atmosphere where you can take your date to, or play dress up. Olives tried hard to become that great Italian/Mediterranean restaurant in town with the wine selections, fancy pizza and cheese plate, but they are just not there. You can consider it as the best restaurant among the local, but if this restaurant is relocated to Minneapolis, Chicago or New York, they are likely not going to be noticed by anyone and won't be able to compete with anyone with the price they are charging. read more

OMG you guys. I just ate the spinach artichoke dip and it was the most amazing thing I've ever had. It doesn't really have to much spinach or artichoke, but what it lacks in those key ingredients, it makes up for in magic. Seriously, amazing. And...our waitress was pretty bomb. While staying at the adjacent hotel, I went in for lunch. After ordering snapper, the only fish item on the menu with veggies, the waiter came back later and told me now they only have beer battered walleye with fries (I was looking for a somewhat healthy option, and I dont eat meat.) When I approached the hostess/manager that there was a lack healthy options on t he menu, she took it as a personal insult and got very ugly with me (apparently she is the owner/chef's daughter) For this being clearly the most upscale restaurant in Mankato, I was a bit floored that their lunch options for fish was the same I could get at any bar/grill down the street. We were guests at the hotel. They offered a breakfast buffet which has the same foods you would typically get for a free Continental breakfast (cereal, waffles, scrambled eggs) at any other hotel except it's not free. The breakfast buffet cost roughly $11. The food was mediocre at best. I should have gone down the street for breakfast, it would have been cheaper and probably tasted better. read more

What I did not expect to find was a restaurant with such excellent food in little old Mankato. Especially a hotel restaurant. The walleye was perfect, the salads on the lunch buffet were outstanding as were the finger sandwiches. Craft beer and reasonable prices too. Fresh tastes and a most unexpectedly pleasant experience. Margherita pizza and kalamata olives were great. I suspect everything on the menu would be very good to excellent. read more

This place is great! The food is excellent, and the awesome is really fun and classy. I would recommend it for anyone. The blt sandwich is out of this world. So is the steak. Don't be scared off by the Greek flair. All pallets love it. My dad only likes BWW and Applebee's, but he love their sandwiches. read more

This is a restaurant in a Hilton hotel in downtown Mankato, but it's unique, tasty, and affordable, with its own identity and specializing in Mediterranean dishes. The mixed appetizer plate is wonderful, with olives, good bread, hummus, baba ghanoush, and other delights. The salads are not only tasty but one of them comes with a side of fries, so the small salad with the fries, at only 8.95, is an entree by itself. The roast chicken and seafood were delicious. The service was good and the Santa Catalina cabernet, at $6 the "House" wine, was better than more expensive wines I've had elsewhere. Best restaurant in Mankato? Very possible. The competition isn't very strong, but I'd eat here even if it was. Give them a try. You'll like it. read more

I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn this week in Mankato. I enjoyed the food at Olive for dinner (burger night) and for breakfast. Food was delicious but other than the burgers was very expensive especially for a town like Mankato. My meals were enhanced by great service for both meals by Jesse my server. Olives is definitely one of the best restaurants in Mankato. There lunch buffet is cheap, has a great variety of dishes, and is a good deal healthier than other buffets in town. This normal menu is a bit pricey, but has great variety with many unique dishes you can't get anywhere else in town. They have recently started making a number of different homemade desserts, all of which that we've tried so far are fantastic. The staff is very friendly and service is excellent. read more

If there would have been a negative star I would have chosen that. I am not sure where to begin with this review. My husband, sister and I made reservations for 6:15 at this restaurant prior to attending a concert at the Verizon Center across the street earlier this week. They clearly were not adequately staffed or prepared to handle the crowd that they had. Instead of being seated in the actual dining area (which was full- did everyone seated there have a reservation like we did??? I am not sure) we were seated in a makeshift addition in the LOBBY of the hotel. The service was horrible. We waited over 20 minutes to get our drinks and close to an hour to get our food. We literally did not have time to eat our food completely or we would have been late for the concert. I went to the hostess desk to complain and the manager was nowhere to be found. We should have been comped in some manner for the horrible service, but we were not. All the way around, an awful experience. read more
