It was a flat gray, and it was fading and developing unsightly pivots, it was not attractive. Jeff came over to access something on the walk, because he really does honor his five year warranty, and we started talking about the porch rehab, and from there the magic began. As you can see Jeff ordered the same bluestone slates that were used on the walk. Now the porch matches the walk and entire area glows with a new vibrancy that thrills me every time I look at it. That was a bonus! A footnote here: Four years ago when we did our front walk, we also had Mottern provide us a back patio. Jeff designed it with creative curves and appeal, instead of a simple square design. We used the stamped concrete method on the patio, which is still beautiful and we use it every day!!! He took over an hour to measure everything and sent me the lumber quote he received so that I was fully informed, then we talked labor. He would point out problematic areas (like rotting framing) and would ask me if I wanted to have it replaced rather than just covering it up with the new surface. He did an amazing job that had my mom's tenants and the neighbors complementing the work and I felt the price was very reasonable. Based on that job, I brought him out to take a look at my townhouse to possibly replace the siding and he suggested sanding, priming and painting instead due to the price of replacement. They sanded almost every square inch of it, primed it (in some areas twice) with a peeling paint primer that is like glue to fill in gaps and keep the rest of the old paint from peeling, and then put a double coat over everything. When they finished, I was surprised to find that they had power washed our patio, porch, and front half-height fence and even painted the fence though we never talked about doing any of that work. The slope was still wrong, the soil wasn't prepped, and the sod had zero chance of surviving.
