He took over an hour to measure everything and sent me the lumber quote he received so that I was fully informed, then we talked labor. He would point out problematic areas (like rotting framing) and would ask me if I wanted to have it replaced rather than just covering it up with the new surface. He did an amazing job that had my mom's tenants and the neighbors complementing the work and I felt the price was very reasonable. Based on that job, I brought him out to take a look at my townhouse to possibly replace the siding and he suggested sanding, priming and painting instead due to the price of replacement. They sanded almost every square inch of it, primed it (in some areas twice) with a peeling paint primer that is like glue to fill in gaps and keep the rest of the old paint from peeling, and then put a double coat over everything. When they finished, I was surprised to find that they had power washed our patio, porch, and front half-height fence and even painted the fence though we never talked about doing any of that work. The slope was still wrong, the soil wasn't prepped, and the sod had zero chance of surviving. Yorbis from Empire admitted in writing that the job was done incorrectly and promised to fix it: "Your claim is legit... We'll take care of it next week." That promise meant nothing. They failed to correct the problem and stopped responding entirely. This was one of the most unprofessional experiences I've had with any contractor. Hire someone else.

They delivered excellent craftsmanship and top notch design experience at a fair price. I initially hired Gerber to tune-up all my existing pavers, add a new paver driveway, and add some new path lighting. Adding the new driveway was somewhat of a challenge as the adjacent paver sidewalks were initially constructed over 10 years ago. So, Gerber was able to find a great match to my existing pavers and masterfully piece the new driveway together in such a fashion where old and new appear seamless. Amazing!!! During the process, we learned that his team also offered landscaping. So as the hardscaping and lighting was coming to an end, his team met with us for a design consultation. Both Kathy and Katherine brought some great experience/knowledge to assess our current situation and offered wonderful ideas to the overall design. We loved what we heard and proceeded with the landscaping work immediately. In the end, we could not be happier! They then tried to upsell us on a promotional crack fix and seal which we committed to but they said would not be honored if the appointment had to be rescheduled due to weather, equipment breakdowns, supplier issues, etc. As a customer, we asked that they would honor a deal for matters outside of the customers' control but then they reneged. We found them to be a low quality company with poor sales and customer service.
