This activity was so great that I've been telling everyone about it. That said, here are a few random points about my visit. 1)While reservations were not required, I emailed them a week in advance for my group of 4. It was an easy process, and no deposit was required. 2)With so many scents, there's something for everyone. There are the ones you'd expect, like floral, citrus, spicy, and earthy. Then there are unique ones mimicking old books, leather, champagne, and a barbershop. You'd be surprised by the scents that go well together. For my scrub, I blended Grapefruit, Wasabi, Champagne, and a bit of cucumber. If you're unsure what to blend, the staff is very helpful. 3)I made wax melts and a sugar scrub. The wax melts took about an hour to set. I had the option of coming back before they close or another day. The scrub was made of brown sugar and a carrier oil that was scentless. I've since used it and love how it feels and how moisturizing it is. I also like that they used a shrink wrap to seal the lid and placed a tamperproof liner on the opening (see pics). Should I decide to make and ship one as a gift, I can feel confident about a safe delivery. There's so much more I can say, but I'll end with this... I love how potent my products smell, and I look forward to making more. read more

We made a reservation here over the weekend at the blending bar for a friends birthday and had a wonderful time! We stopped by around 11am and had the store nearly to ourselves. The experience itself was super fun: they had little clipboards set out for us to take notes on what scents we loved. Then we spend a good chunk of time smelling all of the different candle scents they had (had to be over 100)! I loved that they had coffee beans on hand for this part of the process. The process of combining scents to make the candle was clearly explained to us and the staff member running the experience was super friendly and helpful whenever one of us got stuck! My girlfriends brought me here as a surprise birthday present/outing, and I'm so glad we found this gem! If you're sensitive to scents or prone to headaches/migraines, I would recommend coming right at open - there's no overwhelm of smells yet but we found when we came back later it was very strong. My friends made a reservation at the blending bar - they do allow walk-ins but I probably wouldn't do it unless it was only about two people. They had little reservation tags for each of our seats and a clipboard and pen with some instructions. You start at the scent wall, where you can smell candles of their individual scent oils. I was shocked at how accurate some of the smells were! Bread smelled like fresh french bread and earth smelled like fresh potting soil. There was truly every type of scent under the sun and I think I got to sniff almost all of them. The employee also let us know that some seasonal scents rotate a few times a year, so all the wintery warm/Christmas scents would be switched out for springy florals soon - makes me want to come back again! On my clipboard I wrote down any of the scents I liked, they didn't have to go together. When we were done sniffing, we went over to the product wall to pick out what we wanted to make. There were candles ranging from $25-$35ish depending on the size and jar you picked. You could also go with a sugar scrub, incense or bath salts. I went with the highest tier candle. I felt that the price was right, considering I could spend $30 on a giant candle at bath and body works or Anthro. I was shocked that you only paid for your candle, no service or reservations at the blending bar! After picking out our product, we sad in our spots at the bar. The employee had us star our favorite smells, and she built a complimentary scent around that starred smell using other scents you liked. You can see the purple highlighted scents that made up my candle. The best part was that we each got individual attention and expertise from the employee. The next part was the best part - we got to mix our oils! You got sqeeze bottles of all the scents chosen and you slowly fill up a jigger with the different oils, adding more or less as you go to make sure you get the perfect balance. The employee here was especially helpful - if you felt it was missing something she was able to find a couple more oils that would round out the smell. Finally, the employee filled our jars with wax, we poured in our oils and stirred, and gave our candles back to set! After about 2 hours we came back and got to take them home in cute little gift bags. I highly recommend this for a fun girls outing! read more

I had a small get together with some of my girlfriends here for a birthday event. I had heard of Olfactory from a friend, and I was really excited to bring home new candles that I got to create myself. I really love that there are more than just candles that can be created here - lotions, creams, body scrubs, and more. The process was so fun. Getting to sniff each unique scent and learning to put them all together in your own recipe really had us feeling like chemists. For the price of the candles you get at big box stores, you can create your own for any holiday, occasion, or even for a gift. I loved my experience and I would definitely recommend it for anyone that is looking for a fun activity to do with friends with personalized take home items! read more

Went to Olfactory for a cute birthday celebration with some girlfriends. Wow did we have an amazing time! We made a reservation at the blending bar! The staff member was absolutely amazing! She was so helpful in creating the perfect blend for each of us. We got to choose our own type of creation (candle, lotion, perfume, scrub etc) and test out all the scents. There has to have been over 100 different scents to choose from. The experienced staff helped recommend what scents would go together well. We got to blend our own mix and then mix it into a candle. It takes about 2 hours to set so we went for lunch and then it was ready! I definitely recommend making a reservation but they do allow walk ins. If you are sensitive to scents I recommend making a reservation closer to when they open. At our 11am reservation there was no overwhelming scent in the air at all. When we went to pick up the candles at 2pm there was a much stronger scent in the store. I loved that the candles and experience were reasonably priced! I would absolutely go back because they have new scents for each season! Lots of parking available around the store and it's located in the mall so there are lots of fun places to shop or eat at while waiting! read more

This place is the best!! We have been here many times pre pandemic and never got around to stopping by for awhile until today to celebrate my birthday. I always ask for a trip here for Mother's Day and my Birthday lol. My son even had his family birthday party here a few years back as he's into this stuff like I am. Today we all 3 created fall and winter candles and reed diffuser. Their attention to detail is amazing and they are super nice! The younger gal even remembered my sons name!! Either she's really good at remembering names or there aren't many kiddos that come in lol! She has always been super nice and helpful towards us. They are ran like a well oiled machine. And you will find something for everyone and walk out with amazing candles or whatever else you have made. We have done candles, sugar scrub, spray and today a reed diffuser. Grab a spot at the counter, get your clipboard, smell the scents and write down your favorites. Then they will help guide you to pick your top 3. Then your add drops of each oil, mix and then add to your candle (or whatever you're making) mix it well and come back in 1.5 hours for it to cool. This is perfect to make, grab a bite to eat or shop then pick it up. We already lit one of ours and couldn't be happier. And I totally went away from my usual sea breeze and did more of a fall scent! Oh my gosh this was such a great time! I came here with my mom and sister to celebrate my sister's 17th birthday today. She loves candles and I was so excited to find this experience on tiktok! It not only lived up to the hype but exceeded my expectations. What a brilliant concept for a store! It was so clean and cute inside and the atmosphere was really relaxing. There were tons of scents to choose from and the process was really simple - I could see this being fun for all ages. Super cute jars, too! You do have to wait a bit before pickup but the area is filled with restaurants and shops to fill the time. The girl helping us (I think her name was Kendra) was also so sweet and patient! I visited a few days ago as part of my future sister-in-law's bachelorette party & made a custom blended candle. They walk you through all the steps & it's a super simple process. One of the employees recommended I add a few drops of another scent that I originally hadn't included & I'm super happy I did because it helped my candle turn out even better! Went here for my 36th birthday and it was so much fun! We got to pick out our favorite scents and blend our own candles! You have full control over how much of a certain scent you want to use and you can portion it to your preference. Make sure you make reservations though! Such a cool idea! My husband and I went here for our one year anniversary. It was pretty quick right after we opened, and we were the only people in the place all night. You start by walking around and picking out scents that you like. Once you have a list together, you go back to the table and they help you compile groupings that would smell nice together. There are a lot of products to choose from: candles, body scrubs, body spray, lotion, and other ones I can't remember. We chose body spray and candles! You are able to choose the proportions of each scent, mix them around, and make the item all yourself! We could take the body spray home right away, but the candles would have to cool for a while. So we went to a restaurant and came back right before closing to get our candles. I ended up making a vanilla, pomegranate, hot cocoa candle that reminds me of those chocolate covered pomegranates - so good! My husband made his own candle of a bunch of aggressive scents (cinnamon, bourbon, peppercorn, and something I can't remember), and that even turned out well. The body spray was a combination of the flowers and scents from our wedding day: peonies, eucalyptus, and honey. It's my favorite scent now! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. read more

What a wonderful experience at this newly opened custom perfume and candle shop! Ladies , if you are looking for a great girls night activity , look no further! It's like paint nite but with scents and perfumes! If you are a smell based person like I am, and love going to Lush or BBW , you're gonna love this place. The whole experience was very relaxing a de stressing, that I would love to do again maybe on after a stressful Wednesday at work!This place custom makes soy candles and sprays ,with scent combinations that you choose. Here is what you do : pick 2 or 3 scents from their 100 plus selection of scents they stock , bring your list to the experts behind the counter, and mix them in any proportions as you like. Once you are satisfied, they add that to the candle jar. You can choose from a variety of jars to your liking. The candle takes an hour to be ready , but if you're making a linen spray, that's ready almost immediately. The owners Sue and Jenna are very nice, and personable and answered all my questions and helped me through the entire process of candlemaking! I loved this for a relaxed friends night out! I typically have a hard time using the accurate words to describe what I'm looking for in a scent so I don't usually know what I prefer until I smell it (& it depends on my mood and the season). I enjoyed being able to go through the 100+ scents (in candle form) to zone in on 3 options that I wanted to use in my customized formulation. The associates were welcoming and excited about our personal preferences and final selections. They were helpful in guiding us to balance and highlight our choices. Evaluating as we mixed and prepared our candles was a unique experience, tranquil and serene. We had a leisurely dinner nearby and collected our candles before heading home, 1.5 hrs later. Seriously-the best place! Only wish I would have been able to go before Christmas, ALL of my Christmas gifts would have been made from there. When you step into the store, you feel warm, and comfortable-like you are in your own home. The owners/workers give you so many ideas, tips, and they have plenty of patience! It is such a fun, gratifying experience to create your own scent spray, candles, wax melts, etc. you can go in on a moments notice or plan your next girl party here. (Bridal shower, bachelorette party, moms night out) Will definitely be going back time and time again to create wonderful fragrances for my home and for other people's gifts. SO. MANY. OPTIONS.
