Great place. Exactly what I'm looking for in a room that's walking distance from Frenchmen Street and The Quarter. One block from the Hi Ho Lounge as well. Super cute courtyard with only about two or three hours of direct sun, sublime. Thought quarters though, you're gonna meet people if you smoke or like being outside. Bernadette and the crew are certainly very worth meeting, lovely people. My room didn't have a microwave but it did have a fridge and a great grocery, also a block away. Save your money for cuisine. Let me start out by saying the staff was very accommodating, but the hotel could use some help. My first morning there, I woke up to a freezing cold room. The wall unit went out. Ricky, the front desk manager, came to my room and tried to fix the problem. He ended up having to restart the wall unit from outside. He said he had to leave it off for a while. He provided me with a space heater while the unit was off. My issue was solved, and I was content. Later, I was heating up my food, and I saw a dead baby roach in the microwave. I looked closer and I was two more crawling around in the microwave. The roaches where living In the microwave and feeding off people's leftover food. I also saw a few crawling on the wall. I was going to make this my go-to place to stay when I come to New Orleans. But when i saw the roaches, I changed my mind. My advice to the property is to get some pest control. You have a good hotel/inn for the price.. Great location. Monthly sprays for roaches would help. read more

I can't believe that they actually hasn't renovated this place until torn it down and remodeled because everything is old the people that were staying there up to 2:30 in the morning arguing.. On our most recent visit to New Orleans we stayed at Olde Town Inn for 1 night & for a whopping $56 per night we got to stay in an historic Creole style home that just added to our New Orleans experience! Yep, folks you read that right..we paid $56 for a hotel room in New Orleans off of Rampart Street! Staying in New Orleans was a last minute decision so we found the room on booking.com & I have to admit I was kind of nervous not really knowing what to expect w/ our room at Olde Town Inn especially w/ the price but once we checked in I was pleasantly surprised at the great deal we stumbled on & the hidden gem that is called Olde Town Inn!!! It's not your typical hotel so don't expect a Holiday Inn type or Marriott type traditional hotel..the Olde Town Inn is VERY New Orleans..meaning it has character, charm, lots of history, & just different. We stayed in room 1005 that had 7 beds in it (1 queen size bed & 6 twin beds). Let me first say, I stayed here within the past couple of weeks because: A. Everything else was way overpriced for the weekend. B. The PHOTOS looked okay. C. It's in a decent neighborhood. D. Free parking. I arrived at the location to check in at the front office. The employee was pleasant but more of a "straight shooter" which was fine. I think it will be easier to put my review into points. I am a traveler and have and can stay anywhere from the Ritz to a Super 8, depending on the situation. I am not necessarily a "snobby"traveler and can adapt to environments and situations when needed. This place was an entire situation on it's own. 1. We were given one regular key. 2. There was a wrought iron gate with a code for security 3. After 6 pm, no employee or security is on site. If you have any issues, you are on your own. 4. The photos you see posted on sites advertising the place are not accurate. The word photoshop comes to mind. 5. Our door only had the regular doorknob twist lock. 6. No deadbolt. 7. The inside security door flip lock was broken. 8. The toilet was pretty much detached from the floor. 9. We chose not to shower because of the state of the bathroom. 10. Black mold in the room. 11. Wood rot on the ceiling/wall trim with gaping holes exposed. 12. Nightstand lamp did not have a bulb. 13. TV remote had no batteries. 14. TV would not power on when pressing the power button on the side of the tv. Yes, it was plugged in and the dot was red so the outlet was working. 15. The beds were cheap wrought iron. One bed sounded exactly like a desk bell ringing every time you moved on it. 16. We only had sheets and one thin jail style wool blanket that was more of a smallIsh throw blanket. 17. The room was equipped with a portable air conditioner. It was strapped to the wall with metal perforated plumbers tape. 18. The room fridge was warm and leaky. 19. The window blinds were broken. 20. The smell of the room was unpleasant. My advice to the owners and management would be to spend a little money for desperately needed upgrades. If you don't have enough staff to properly maintain the rooms, don't rent them all. This could be a lovely hidden gem if a little effort was put into maintenance, upkeep and repairs. My advice to travelers would be to find somewhere else. Pay the extra money. Have security. Have someone on site in case of emergencies. Don't breathe black mold. Be able to shower in the room you pay for instead of choosing your own dirt over their bathroom. Be able to use a lamp and tv. Be comfortable in a quiet bed. Go anywhere else. Don't be fooled by the "good" reviews or photos. They cannot be real. read more

Reading some of the other reviews, I get the impression some folk just don't understand New Orleans! If you want a sterile box to stay at, go to the Ramada in Portland, Oregon. If you want a fantastic Nawlins experience, at a price you can afford, in just about the perfect location, five minutes walk from Frenchman, then stay here. Yes, it has it's quirks, but look around you! You are in New Orleans! The whole city is one big quirk, and could "use a little fixing up". If you "get" Nawlins, you will love this place, I garontee. Oh, and it's dog friendly ($15/night surcharge) and has available secure off street parking ($10/night). read more

Olde Town Inn is a cute, yellow hotel. Lots of character, I'd say. Upon walking in through the narrow doorway, you'll encounter a giant stuffed Kermit playing the piano, a grand Christmas tree, and the NICEST receptionists known to man. The man checked us into our hotel, and informed us that we were instantly upgraded to a suite for FREE. The man at the reception desk was absolutely helpful. Questions about public transportation, taxi cabs, Frenchman St., French Quarters, Acme, cats, etc. Yup, he knew it all. He gave us a map, marked off places for us, and gave us suggestions for places that are must-sees. The suite was charming, with pale green walls, wooden floors, and windows everywhere. The furniture was antique, and the wall adornments were unique. Law diploma of some random man in the bathroom, giant pot in the closet (for gumbo?), etc, etc. I loved the room upon walking in. However, with each day spent at Olde Town, I realized that the place was not the cleanest of hotels. The continental breakfast serves the crappiest coffee I've ever tasted. The biggest negative was the itch/rash I developed on my right arm and back from sleeping in the master bed. Simple irritation probably, and hopefully not bugs. Either way, the cleanliness could be improved here. Bottom line, I would stay here again, definitely. It's conveniently located near Frenchman St, and a mile walk away from the French Quarters. Just be weary of the potentially irritating sheets, and maybe bring some hydrocortisone cream while you're at it! read more

This is my new Vacation house! If your prissy and want a boring sterile room move along you won't be happy here and I don't want to run into you at breakfast. Ginger at the front desk is like your college RA, she gives good advice and helps figure out what ever drama pops up during your stay. I'm sorry I can't tell you the name of their Handyman, but he's like the thoughtful uncle that buys you a cup for baseball when your single mom is clueless about such things. This is a Gay owned business, which means it's Gay friendly (what business in NOLA isn't) and the Gay's that were staying there while I was there just gushed over the place, if you don't know what that means, the translation is this place ranks very VERY high on charm. I met a couple from Berlin, 2 frat boys from Australia , a pair from Chesapeake bay area, all in the breakfast party patio, during our 4 day stay. They are moderately priced and even have a lay-a-way plan for your reservation. In times like these that's #1 thoughtful, & #2 brilliant. The only reason why I give it 4 1/2, instead of 5 stars, is they serve atrocious coffee at breakfast. But from my experience it's the city water used in the coffee that makes it bad. They should make a better effort on the coffee by using filtered water and serving real half & half. We solved this problem with our own instant Starbucks & cream. It's close to most everything you want to do in NOLA, and being nestled in the Marigny it gives you the feel of really living in NOLA. I highly recommend to any adventurous soul, and I will return again, and again, and again. read more

When my fiancee checked in to she was given a room (205) that had obviously been smoked in. That night she further discovered: *The only towel provided was caked in glitter *The other towel was a bath mat that smelled of strong Clorox *The toilet handle was broken off *Shower head barely trickled *No blanket was provided and she had to sleep in her coat When she brought it up the next day, she was offered a new room or the opportunity to cancel the remaining night. Because she didn't have time to bother between wedding's festivities, she decided to rough it and simply requested a change of sheets. The sheets were never changed, however. Both management and staff were polite during this whole process, but unprofessional. Upon checking out, these numerous issues were politely mentioned and a discount was requested. The lady at the front desk kindly deducted ~10% from the booking, but that did not seem nearly enough for the trouble, and I politely asked to speak to a manager. She took my name and number and never followed up. I had to call several times throughout the following week, leaving my name and number again, before I was able to get them to hand over the phone to management. Management politely expressed regret over the state of the room during our stay, but when I requested a partial refund he stressed that there was nothing further they could do since we had already stayed there and they couldn't afford to lose past revenue. At the end of our conversation I told them I was intending to leave them an unfavorable review, and I was immediately accused of blackmailing. The location was nice though. read more

Let me start by saying that the 2 ladies at the front desk were both very friendly and sweet , that's the last positive thing I have to say about this dump. I have included photos of the filth of the room , they should speak for themselves. There is literally no heat except for a very small space heater that stopped working. The walls , baseboards and floors were filthy which is odd being that they said they just CLEANED our room . This is not old world charm it's simply a dump. My socks stuck to the floor it was so sticky . The continental breakfast consisted of cold sausage , cold hard boiled eggs and a waffle maker . There were some toast and bagels thrown in . We paid a little over $300 a night to stay at what I would imagine those hotels by the hour look like . The pictures they have posted are deceiving , my photos are the real thing. I was not allowed to cancel after seeing the accommodations not being to my standard and soo as not to have to pay for 2 places we stayed . I booked a reservation through booking.com for the Old Town Inn. Got to the property found it quant looking on the outside. We got into our room and the air conditioning floor model has not been cleaned and mold and mildew inflamed my wife's and my allergies. The beds were cheap and all springs. Woke up in extreme back pain. Cable was not working. Supporting beems for ceiling were decaying with deep holes in beems. Went to the free breakfast with room. And food ie.. Sausages, eggs not on ice and food was very warm. Flies everywhere. Tables not clean and food on the ground. We decided to check out and go to another hotel and they would not refund our unused money for remaining days. They told us we had to go to booking.com to get them to call and confirm a refund. It shows that they really do not have the concerns and welfare of their guest in mind. The health department needs to investigate this property. We will never come back to this property or anything they own. read more

Pro's: price for being so close to the Quarter, experience staying in an old building, walking distance or quick Uber ride to Frenchman St and French Quarter, it thundered and it felt like we were IN the storm, train horns all night if you like that sort of thing, we had a late flight out and they let us leave our bags at the desk so we could site-see Con's: pics on website are not accurate, Accurate pics of how the rooms look today are the ones people posted. Rooms were dirty, sheets were dirty. My bed skirt was half off and the bed was not centered on the boxspring and it was too heavy for me to move. There were 2 small towels for three of us and when I asked for a couple more towels the woman at the front desk seemed annoyed. The hotel borders a sketchy area, and an up-and-coming area DO NOT get those streets mixed up. The toilet seat was loose and hanging sideways and there was broken furniture and blinds. The door had a push button door lock and chain with no deadbolt. It's an old building with thin walls so you hear every conversation clearly which means they can hear yours (It's an old building, but still a negative) Our room was never cleaned, beds never made, trash never removed...not even a midweek cleaning...so if you expect that, don't stay here. It looks as though this hotel was redone at some point and was beautiful! That is where I thought I was staying! I'm not sure what happened after 2017, but that's when most negative reviews started. I'm not one for big fancy hotels, and I was really excited to stay here. It was really disappointing for me. read more

I booked a room for two nights at Old Town Inn for a friends wedding. The location was convenient and although the price was on the high side, I figured splurge a little and make a great weekend of it. IT WAS HORRIBLE!! For $150 a night, I was in room 37 which was a big multi-room unit - part of an old shotgun house. Space was adequate but the kingsize bed was without a doubt 30 years old and the NOISIEST and most uncomfortable bed you could ever attempt to sleep in. Believe me you won't get to actually sleep in the bed because it will squeak so much every move you make will wake you up. The other key thing was safety - the room opened up directly on the street so foot traffic is only inches away and the door was rotten - REALLY ROTTEN - and only had the door knob as a lock since the deadbolt did not work. FELT VERY UNSAFE!! Here's the other things that contributed to the nightmare: - NO WIFI in this room. Told them about it and they said' come to the office if you want to use WIFI. We know you won't get signal in your room.' No WIFI in this day and time really? - the sheets and pillowcases were DIRTY - I slept in my PJ's and used my own pillow (thank God I brought some). - the bathroom was filthy and I mean FILTHY - the coffee pot did not work - the ceiling fan did not work - unit was heated with wall gas heater and electrical space heater that were not adequate to ever get it really warm (and it was 33 degrees at night) - the door was rotting and had gaps of 1/2 inch at the top and bottom so NOT SAFE and VERY DRAFTY. - the door only had know lock since the deadbolt did not work but why bother with a rotten door anyway. If I could leave 0 stars, I would without question! Please don't waste your time or money with this place. I am a local, but needed a place to stay for the night because the AC went out at my house and I figured a room here would probably be better than going to a hotel in N.O. East considering my budget. Upon entering the room (room 101) my boyfriend and I noticed there was trash in the cans, mold and mildew on the AC window unit, dirty towels scattered amongst the room, and the bed linens were also pretty sketchy so we decided we'd just sleep in the car and only use the room to shower and get dressed in the morning. At 7:30am we arrived back at the room, only to find a man was already in it! He showed us the key that was given to him by front desk, which also said room 101. After waiting for the office to open at 9am, the receptionist notified me that the man booked that room at 2:30pm the previous day, when we booked at around 6pm. I'm not sure how this happened, but I can say that this wouldn't have happened if people would take their job seriously. I have never in my life seen a hotel/motel or even an Airbnb be this unprofessional, dirty, nasty, and unkept. This place needs to be reported to the health department as well as needs to be renovated or even a good cleaning would help tremendously! read more

This is by far the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. First of all, the room was ragged as hell. The dresser was falling apart, the toilet leaked water, and the bathroom floor was soft from the water damage (talk about a disaster waiting to happen...). And there's constantly shady people milling about with zero security. But worst of all is the DAMN NOISE! You can hear your neighbors on all sides *and* people talking in the courtyard. I had to go out and buy earplugs from the nearby Walgreen's because that was the only way I could get any sleep. Not to mention if you can hear them, then they can hear you, so good luck having any privacy with an intimate partner. I've stayed in plenty of cheap hotels and motels in my time but this one easily takes the shit cake. read more

The cleaning crew literally yell at each other every morning while cleaning and it sounded like the people above us were bowling every morning. I found this place by chance... calling a travel agency on the drive to New Orleans. It was the right price, pet friendly (without a pet fee) and near the French Quarter. I booked it over the phone and put the address in my GPS. Driving through the neighborhood on the way to the Inn was pretty sketchy and did not feel safe at all. I hoped that the Inn was in a better area. Luckily, it was! The streets right around the hotel had much better feel and there was a little park across the street (great for my puppy). I really enjoyed the charm of the Olde Town Inn. The courtyard was super cute with brightly colored chairs and umbrellas. There was a locked gate and I was able to park (for free) on the street immediately outside the hotel. The hotel staff was nice, informative and hospitable. The room was a suite with one and a half bedrooms with a bathroom. Price was about $75.00/night. The decor is mismatched, but it goes with the old world charm of area. I liked how they used Mardi Gras beads as curtain ties. They have ice, snack and drink machines, plus laundry area. Had to keep the AC cranked up because it was almost 100-degrees outside! The room stayed somewhat cool. The bed was comfortable and bathroom was acceptable, although the shower did leak a bit. Breakfast was basic with some toast, English Muffins and pastries with coffee. Hey, it's free! I was able to walk easily, quickly and safely to the French Quarter, market, Bourbon Street, etc. Great location and I will stay there again!!! read more

I stayed here in November 2012 with some girlfriends for a weekend. We didn't have any problems with itches/rashes or our room be unkempt (as did some other reviewers). You're not staying at a 5-star hotel for $1,000 a night - know what to expect people! It's quirky cute decor, older building. Yes the floor boards creek. Yes you can hear a little bit of foot traffic late at night. But you're on vacation, is it that big of a deal? It wasn't for us. The staff was super nice, always smiling when went to bother them - one morning I had them hunt down bandaids for my friend who suffered blisters from her high-heels ;) I loved the common eating area, too cute. Plants in a tub = genius. All the other quests we came across were like-minded, very friendly. Our first morning to eat breakfast, it was pretty busy. I invited a couple who was sitting on a bench to eat at our table since we had plenty of room. They were from Europe and it was their first time in NOLA. It was that experience of meeting new people that I loved about the hotel. Being from the South, it was nice to experience the "down-home" geniuine niceness away from home. One of the best features I feel is that it's a neighborhood. People live there and kind of have that eye out for their fellow neighbor. In addition to the room key, there's a key-only access gate from the street which made 3 girls feel extra safe. I've suggested this place to multiple friends who have planned upcoming trips. This review is not an easy one to write. Some people will not like this place. On the other hand, the place is kind of cool on its own merits. It kind of like a dysfunctional bread and breakfast joint with many issues but a lot of heart and personality. When they introduced their retarded cat as "this is our retarded cat", I realized this was going to be more than my usual vanilla flavored lodging experience. Let me just say the potential of this hotel being a really nice place to stay is off the chart. But the place needs work, and lots of it. Noise is a problem. We could hear our neighbors upstairs like they we were in the same room. Maybe in a few years I will check it out again, it has a lot of old world charm going for it. A friend and I took a little trip to New Orleans for the first time last week and stayed at the Olde Town Inn. I would definitely recommend this place if you're traveling on a budget and/or with larger groups of friends. When we got there to check in, we were apparently upgraded at no extra cost to a suite of sorts (room 33) that had four rooms and seven beds. The staff was friendly and accommodating, helped us book a swamp tour during our stay and a cab to the airport on the day we left. The building seemed to be pretty old; the premises were a bit run down, the rooms got pretty drafty at night, and no toiletries other than bar soap and shampoo were provided. They do offer complimentary breakfast in the mornings, which sounded like a great deal until we got to the courtyard and sampled the shriveled pastries and acrid coffee. For the price we were paying, though, I wasn't expecting much more in terms of amenities. The Olde Town Inn is a couple blocks' walking away from the eastern parts of the French Quarter, and the path we took always passed by the amazing live music bars on Frenchmen Street. However, some of the parts we walked through appeared to be borderline shady neighborhoods, so my friend and I opted to take cabs back after dark just to be safe. read more

This is not the hotel to stay in if you're used to new/ refurbished hotels. The room was fairly disappointing. It was old, stained, without one piece of fabric that matched and a sad excuse of decorations. Random pictures, records and antiques were placed around, but obviously found at some estate sale half off. Even our armoire had a broken mirror in it! The room can seem noisy because the door is a glass window and everyone that walks/talks/works makes a lot of noise on the wood porch. But I peeked into other rooms and they had wood floors and were nicer, next time I would just ask for one of those. Having said that the quaint feel of this Inn is nice. It's location is awesome, right next to Frenchmen St. and a quick walk to the quarter. The bed was comfortable and the courtyard was great. While we were never up for it, they serve breakfast on the patio. This place reminds me of all the houses I grew up in here... old and quirky. The price is the best I could find, the staff was friendly and let's face it you're in NOLA and you shouldn't be in your hotel much anyway!! The Olde Town Inn was pretty good for the price and for the location. It is a little run down, but my fiancee and I just felt that it added to the character of the building. The location was good too, as it was only a few blocks from the river and from the cable car system. Parking was also easy to find. The room itself contained a large bed and again, the room itself was old and slightly worn, but we truly felt like there was a lot of charm and character coming out of the old building. The breakfasts were held in the little patio/garden area. Make sure you get it early because the food goes fast and they do not really refill any empty items. The best thing about our stay was their pet policy. We needed a room that could accommodate two dogs and a cat. They were happy to allow this and did not require any extra fee or deposit. The bathroom was a little shoddy. It was tiny and the door was but a little folding partition. No big deal to us, since we were not looking to spend hundreds of dollars just for a couple of nights in New Orleans. read more

Just spent a week at the olde town inn and it was perfect for our budget. Under $100 a night and we were upgraded to a a double room that had a living room as well. It was clean and quaint and a short walk to anywhere you want to go. Bywater is a few blocks one way and French quarter a few blocks the other way; it's a perfect location . The court yard with breakfast was cute too. I'd stay there again! read more

Stayed here with a SO on a recent trip to New Orleans. Unbeknownst to us, the "Deluxe" suite is not actually a more luxurious room, just merely one with more beds. Highly recommend it for bringing large groups to the quarter. Staff was super friendly, neighborhood was quiet, and place overall was clean. The amenities are a bit basic, but as a location to drop your stuff before heading out to Frenchman or the marigny, really good location. read more

For $59/night, you really can't ask for more. The location is great! Our room (one queen bed off the interior courtyard) was clean and comfortable, though the furniture didn't match and the fixtures were pretty old. But the bed was nice and the room even had a refrigerator. It was like staying in the guest room of a friend's house, but with a lot more privacy. If you can afford to stay at a nice hotel downtown, then do it. But if you're traveling on a budget and want to stay in the city, then Old Towne Inn is your best option. I'd recommend calling to reserve a room. There are a number of rooms set up for groups, not couples, and I've heard stories of people accidentally renting the room with 3 twin beds instead of a room with a queen because they booked online. read more

Very nice clean rooms just a couple blocks from all the great bars and restaurants on Frenchmen Street. Prices are reasonable and you can snag a place to park on the street for free. Rooms are small but we don't mind as we only use it as a place to crash after a long day of exploring the area. read more

Nice hot shower, super comfy mattress, excellent air conditioning! Friendly staff! It ain't too fancy, but it's fantastic for the price. Met some friendly folks on the back patio on my first night here; they said they've been coming here for years. Awesome! The neighborhood is fine. Nothing to be afraid of, as far as my experience went. (I was slightly unnerved while in the nearby Walgreens, but no matter where you are, Walgreens seems to be a haven for unsavory characters.) Authentic new orleans. Walking distance to alot of bars and restaurants. Amazing suite with a full kitchen, living room and back yard. Original hardwood floors and tons of charm. If you can reserve room 1007 its amazing and right off the street, just like owning your own little home. The cars are perfectly safe outside. Ive stayed in a number of rooms here, the single deluxe rooms are small but cute and have everything you need. The suites all have a ton of beds and are great for groups. Now that uber is in new orleans id recomend that to get to the quarter, its about $6 and its the safest way to go really. Just like any city people look for drunk tourists to steal from so just be aware of things. read more
