Leah Atkins Design - Comfortable and Colorful

    Leah Atkins Design

Leah Atkins worked with me for well over a year on the complete renovation, design, furniture…read moreselection, and decor details of my home in Peachtree City, Georgia. I researched several Atlanta area designers before hiring Leah Atkins Design. After meeting some others and obtaining quotes, I knew Leah Atkins Design was the best fit for my project. I felt comfortable with Leah's knowledge, contacts and pricing. Her grasp of my desires and style were proven at her design concept presentation. She had paid so much attention to detail I'd relayed in our first meeting, I was stunned to see my dream home taking shape under her vision. This renovation involved a complete redesign of the 1980's style interior inherited when I purchased the home, as well as furniture and decor selections. I lived in Florida while the renovation was taking place, and hiring Leah made this entire process a lot easier, as she oversaw every step of the endeavor. With Leah's assistance my home has become a modern and contemporary space and I am ecstatic with the results she achieved. It is a true testament to her talent that relatives, friends and guests who visit my home are in awe of the transformation. Leah has a friendly outgoing attitude that she easily maintains while remaining solution-focused. She has great communication, listening and organizational skills which kept me on time and on budget. Her patience with me was amazing. (Any delays were purely my own in making final decisions.) Having never used an interior designer, I was not sure what to expect. It all seemed overwhelming, until her invaluable guidance steered me through color schemes, flooring, cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, counters, tiling, painting, lighting, furniture selection and accessories. During this time, she displayed a high degree of integrity, responsibility and enthusiasm. She is dedicated to her craft and brought an abundance of creativity and new ideas to my home. While I committed a substantial investment to this renovation, Leah always looked for good value when making product recommendations. I came to see her as a very practical interior decorator who can deliver good value for both modest and high-end projects. The desire to provide good value to her clients was also apparent in time management and record keeping on the project. She was very professional and I always felt I was receiving considerable value for her fee. While she has definite opinions with regard to all décor related issues, she LISTENED to me and worked hard to understand my needs. She is a great person and very comfortable to work with. I loved working with Leah and I am happy to give her my wholehearted endorsement. If ever I undertake another renovation or decorate another home, she's the first one I'll be calling.

White Dog Home - Home Staging Services

I didn't find a house that weekend, but my realtor sent me a link to a home and said it had me 'written all over it.' The home was beautiful but what really sold it to me (sight unseen in person!) was that I could really see myself and my family in it. Come to find out, the house was staged by White Dog Home. There was a mix up with one of the rugs that was used in the staging, and when they came back to the house to pick it up after I moved in, I asked off-handedly if they would consider selling it to me. I bought the rug and in the next couple of weeks, spent time looking through the original photos of the house and trying to find similar items that they had used to stage it. Finally, I realized I could probably buy the actual items from where they came from and called White Dog Home. I love the style, and I loved the way White Dog Home staged the house I bought. It wasn't too fancy or stiff - it looked like an HGTV home, a dream home, a place where I'd want to live. I bought a house they staged sight unseen in person, bought a rug that they staged in my home, and I'm planning on working with them to decorate and style it now that I live here. It's a crazy, random, and fun story, but I wanted to tell it because it's a true testament to their work. I should also mention that I have only spoken with Malinda over the phone, but every interaction has been easy and accommodating, which, if you've ever moved, you know is so important when you're finding new people to work with. People who just understand how to treat people/their customers always win me over!

One of Alpharetta's older buildings, The Cotton House is located slightly off Main Street on Milton Avenue. The interior rambles from one room to another and around each corner is something new and interesting. This is a combination of antiques-dealer stalls and a consignment shop so the finds range from custom Christmas ornaments to refinished 1950's end tables, from handmade soaps to farmhouse dining tables and everything in between. In my last visit, my cousin found a vintage milk bottle set and a refinished (distressed) side table for a bedroom all for less than $100. This is a place where - when you find a piece you love - you'd better snap it up right away or it'll be gone the next time you circle around to it. This is not a place you pop into/out of - it's a place where you plan to spend a couple of hours browsing. There's just too much to see and if you rush through, you'll miss all the interesting little items. Look up, look behind and look above - there are decor items everywhere! Some are cute, some are kitschy and some are absolutely must-haves. There is parking available on the street in front of the store but it's limited and requires you to back out into traffic. I recommend parking in the (free) gravel lot just behind the store. Another good parking option is the deck at City Hall (only one and a half blocks away) - parking is free there, allowing you time to browse and then have a nice lunch at a downtown restaurant while you contemplate your purchases.
