All performances were live with a live band no prerecordings. The singers and dancers were great and the choice of music was very entertaining. But every thing here is about the large, no massive, force and impression of local nature, of the Bad Lands, and of nearby Theodore Roosevelt National Park. First, get your tickets ahead of time online. There were multiple who left disappointed because tours were sold out today. There is an outside element to this museum, so walk it, and take in the views, nature, native plants, and the fresh air. The building features a green roof that you can (and should) walk on and across. For the view if for no other reason. Parking was easy. And free. There is a restaurant inside with locally sourced food. Tasty and affordable. There is a good gift shop inside too. The museum is awesome. As random, broad, deep, unpredictable, impactful, occasionally challenged by "things back then that are different now" and interactive in ways you have to experience yourself. Pro tip: take the wrist band and sign in with it. Multiple fun interactive kiosks await you. TR had his faults and poor decisions, and those are here for your interpretation. TR was also larger than life. This interactive museum, in this immersive and impressive landscape, are all larger than life and worth exploring. Bully!

The first part is a very informative, walk-through of his life through various rooms that resemble interiors of his childhood. It's extremely tight and crowded in there, so I skipped most of it in order to get out of the claustrophobic section. Thankfully, it opens up into an atrium that continues with his life. This section is laid out very well. You can stop at various events and read more info about his life. I was glad to see there was one kiosk, devoted to TR's lack of initiatives to reverse the rampart racism in our country at the time, suggesting that he could've done much more, but because of political reasons, chose not to. Two more thoughts. I had a awful time at the museum Restaurant. Waited 35 minutes for my main special of the day, the bison sloppy Joe, it wasn't very tasty. And in more positive note. I actually enjoyed the outside of the museum slightly more than the inside. It's a beautiful landscape overlooking the surrounding canyons and mountains. Plenty of places to walk around, worth visiting, without the museum entrance fee.

It was surreal to ride out and soak up every moment of this vast land! Abby is welcoming, patient and a professional equestrian who values safety first. We appreciated all the photographs she took of us on the trail and she gave us insight about the local culture and history. We could not have asked for a better trail guide/wrangler. Also as a "horse person" I deeply appreciated how healthy and happy these horses are. They are well cared for that is for sure. We learned that many horses stay here for years, are not over worked and retire with dignity. I highly recommend the two hour ride, it was a deeply meaningful experience!

Piper was very personable and kept up steady conversation. The horses are well mannered, all with their own little quirks. It was nice that our wrangler knows the individual horses well enough to give us a heads up. For example, at the end of the ride there's a wide short bush that the horse I had insists on walking through. It wasn't dangerous, and it's just his preference and gives him a little joy, he scratches his belly on it. Piper knew the horses well enough she gave me a heads up so I wasn't surprised. I was a little surprised that they called this a visitor center because it's really just a rest stop with a bathroom and a small office. It was just after 5:00 when we arrived and everything was closed but I noticed that the bathrooms both had signs on them that had been taped up that said out of order. I thought that was odd because I understand one restroom being out of order, but both? Anyway, we decided to get some dinner and come back in the morning. When we returned there were some gentlemen emptying the garbage cans and as I walked up to the office again , they told me that a water main had broke a few days ago so they put out of order signs on the bathrooms because they have no water. When I asked about the "visitors center" they said they didn't have any information but that they had just decided to close down that whole area since it closes for the season in 10 days anyway.

You can tell they have pride, not only in their work at the Museum, but in their community and history. The complex is off the beaten path by only a block, so it is easy to miss it.
