We were looking for a fun spot to eat and this place definitely met what we needed. A wide variety of shops, places to eat, and fun things to look at. Would definitely come back!

Cool spot with an amazing variety of food and products. Some things were a little on the expensive side

The Old spiralfield's market, one of the coolest markets in East London. It hosts various retails brands, street food stalls, bars and restaurants. Location is just great, it's very close to the Liverpool street station (aka London Liverpool street) add a 10 min walk and you are there. It's a nice place to grab a bite and wander around when you're in the area. Other attractions nearby: Brick lane market (vintage/flea market), Boxpark (a giant hipster heaven) ,museum of London (it's free!!) and there are also many great restaurants for you to explore. My recommendation would be Dishoom Indian restaurant (one of the nicest Indian restaurants in London, so good), English restaurant (serve decent traditional English breakfast) and Duck and waffle (Great view. It's a 24-hour restaurant in London) St. John Bread and wine is one of another great options too! Bonus points. They are all walkable. East London is def a place you don't wanna miss out! The mixture of food and culture, the arts, there are just so many things to explore! All in all, a must-do in London. Well worth a visit. Note: Thursday is a vintage market day!!!

The Old Spitalfields Market combines an indoor mall, flea market, and a good-sized food court with lots of different cuisines. Unlike the Portobello Road Market, Old Spitalfields is much easier to navigate since the clothing vendors, souvenir shops, and food stalls are all arranged in a grid. Along the perimeter, there are even more stores and full sit-down restaurants. Sort of like a market within a big mall! We did not do any actual shopping here, but did sample few of the food vendors. Jiaba specializes in Taiwanese Street Food, and they serve up a pretty good pork rib rice plate. Tender, seasoned stewed ribs with some root veggies thrown in for a hearty meal. Yum Buns serves up surprisingly authentic baos. The classic pork belly is fatty and good but the panko-crusted fish was exceptional. Sort of like the best of both worlds - British fried fish meets Asian bao with its seasonings. I recommend getting the combo meal since they throw in a nice Asian slaw with two fried veggie gyozas for like 1£ extra. Other reasons why I think Old Spitalfields deserves 4 stars: * Plenty of bench seating around the food court. One lady who sat across from us looked a bit like Meghan Markle! * Free Wi-Fi inside the market * Clean restrooms on the lower level, with a janitor that frequently cleans the floors * Lots and lots of food options - from food stalls to full sit-down restaurants.

This place is a MUST see in London. Lovely place. Amazing food at the Turkish food stand inside the covered outdoor market area! **

Yes..... A market . This market can satisfy your heart's desire as it's a fusion of multi cultural cuisines. It also has a variety of items to buy such as cloths, bags and accessories. However I came here for the FOOD . Head to Liverpool station and follow your phone directions, you won't be disappointed.

Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! The Spitalfields market is only there on Sundays, but it saves up all week for the effort. On a rainy day, expect the place to be wall-to-wall crowds. A few dozen stands exist selling one of a kind stuff, like scarves, leathers like wallets and handbags, unique fashions, tshirts, posters, postcards, pictures. So many things I thought were interesting specimens of kitch, but I had to ask myself if I really needed a set of ceramic coasters with odd scenes of London on them. I did pick up a very cool silk scarf that will be going home as a special gift for the missus. Some of the vendors accept cards and are armed with portable credit card machines. Some do not - there is a cash point nearby that usually has a nice long queue ("line in American"). I think you can try negotiating but I just end up handing over the cash. Massive array of food options, ranging from fresh baked pastries and breads to a Chinese noodles and rice to a grilled-in-front-of-you wrap. I did manage to find the loo ("toilet') but you'll want to avoid touching anything. Way busy and not exactly clean. Tip: Prior to wandering the aisles, find one of the stairs up to the first floor. It will help you get your bearings and plan your route before getting lost in the crowd. Don't miss this place - it's a London landmark!

Spitalfields Market is pretty cool. I had the pleasure of staying nearby during my recent trip to London. Spitalfields is, of course, where the amazing Allsaints [Spitalfields] store originated, and the flagship store is located right across the street from the market. The market is definitely overpriced, but not more overpriced than Eastern Market and nowhere near as overpriced as Union Market (both in Washington, DC). Also, keep in mind the state of the US dollar in the UK, you are obviously going to be paying more than you'd like. What I liked most about Spitalfields market was how diverse the vendors were. The problem I have with a lot of these kitschy markets is that each vendor is pretty much selling the same exact thing, all at a ridiculous price...and then you have to side-eye whether or not the things they're toting as "vintage" are really vintage. The vendors ranged from: food, pastries, crafts, clothes, shoes, home decor and office supplies. The vendor I liked the most was definitely the one that sold the vintage 60s-style dresses. The dresses were so cute, but unfortunately I was saving the rest of my budget for Paris and couldn't indulge. I definitely plan on coming back here to purchase some of those dresses and try the food from all the different food vendors, especially the Caribbean vendor.

The Kitchens at Old Spitalfields Markets is a food lover's playground that makes your mouth water from the moment you get close enough to smell all delicious possibilities. My friend and I wanted to try the best street food London has to offer, so The Kitchens seemed like the perfect place for us. We began with a refreshing fruit tea drink from YiFang with passion fruit, pineapple, apple, orange and ching tea. Just what we needed to cool us down in the hot London summer. Then we walked over to the famous Dumpling Shack to try their ever so spicy and fragrant prawn wontons in Sichuan chilli oil to begin. Neither of us has ever had Burmese food so we just had to try the rice noodles with pork and chicken mince in a tomato and garlic base from Lahpet, a dish that enlivened all the senses. I could not skip the simple but classic dish braised pork rice from Jiaba, made in the Taiwanese cooking style that I have come to love. Taking a little break from the food we stopped over at High Mood Food to try their organic live apple cider vinegar with ginger shrub, definitely an acquired taste but a good way to reset the palate. Tuna and salmon chirashi from Chirashi Bowl was a wonderful way to showcase these ingredients and a refreshing seafood dish to have. The Schezuan wings from Flank, coated in a spicy glaze with toasted sesame and spring onion came with a necessary water bowl to clean up that delicious sauce from your fingers. Finishing off our savory bites was none other than the lamb shwarma from Berber and Q an exquisite combination of rolled lamb shoulder of with laffa bread, burnt chilli sauce and pickles. Although feeling a little bit stuffed we could not leave without satisfying our sweettooths. We went for one red bean and one matcha wheel cake from Wheelcake Island, a sweet and uniquely shaped dessert from Taiwan. To end we had to go French with a selection of caneles from from Babelle, all luxuriously sweet with their own decadent toppings - it is worth a trip to Old Spitalfields Market just for these! Every dish we tried at The Kitchens was freshly produced and and packed with flavour, with all the culinary talent in a single location this is definitely a unique destination in London's ever crowded food scene.

Old Spitalfields Market - a cute market to visit and shop local. It's very close to the Liverpool Street Station - about a 5-10 min walk from there. Great place to grab a quick bite and walk around. A bunch of local shops, food stalls, bars, and restaurants here. The wall art/graffiti is amazing

This is a charming outdoor market. Lots of stuff. Lots of food choices. My wife loved the place. I'm not much for outdoor markets, but I have to admit this place is ok in my book. A fellow working a booth called Vachet London was very kind in opening up a notch in my wife's belt. No charge! Very friendly merchants.

A friend suggested The Laundry for a catch-up Sunday roast...and as I'm always willing to try new…read moreplaces, I thought it seemed like a decent place(despite my apprehension about only 2 menu items...lamb or veggie). We arrived, and immediately our drink orders were taken...although it did take quite awhile to get the drinks. However, my £9 Bloody Mary was pretty tasty...spicy and strong. As there were only 2 options for food...ordering decisions were made pretty quickly. One thing I found a bit odd though, was if you decide when you order your meal that you want dessert too...it's a £1 cheaper. I'm not really a fan of having to decide if I want dessert before I've even touched my meal. When the food came out, it was very pretty...however it seemed like a pretty small portion for £16. Luckily, I'm a meat eater, so I got a nice hunk of very tender lamb, but my friend who is a veggie, had to make do with a couple mushrooms(although she said they were very good). I also had one, lone brussel sprout on my plate...although that was better than a friend who had 1/2 a brussel sprout. It almost seemed like the food was there to look pretty, rather than to eat....either that or a tasting menu. Regardless, all of the food was really nice...delicious flavors...and to be fair, I wasn't hungry when I finished. A few people in my party got dessert. What looked like a slop of chocolate mess, with green ice cream...ended up being really nice. A chocolate mousse of sorts, with green tea ice cream and bits of pineapple. It looked a bit odd...but tasted good. All-in-all, I would recommend The Laundry. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was good, and the food tasty. Just be prepared to spend a bit more than you might want...and if you are a vegetarian, maybe eat a snack before you go. Or if you are super picky about food, call beforehand to see what's on the menu, since there are only 2 options. I certainly won't eat here on a regular basis, but a great place for a special occasion.

Went here for their New Years Eve party…read more The ticket price was pretty high for what the venue provided. DJ was okay altho musics were a bit of a snore 90's leftovers - and even then, some of the most generic 90's musics around. I expected more from London. The droves of kids on drugs were just fine with the playlists. They need 2-3 more bars for the venue size. They couldn't really well serve the 1000+ patrons. They also need for bathrooms to support an event of this size. All in all I was happy to be out of London City Centre for New Years - and hey it could have been worse! My main letdown was the music. Free foto booth was a +. At some point people had vomited in the ball pit and they didn't shut it down :/ Seems someone popped the bounce house halfway thru the night. I realize the venue and the promoter using the space for the new years party are separate - this is my experience for NYE only.

It's not about the amount, of course I can pay 3 extra pounds, it's just inappropriate to raise the price just because you felt like it. I also don't appreciate separating groups that are in the queue together, or for that matter, leaving people in the cold just to make the place look crowded, cooler, funner. We were in a group of four, they let two friends in and left me and my other friend behind for 45 minutes. We're texting back and forward the two people that were inside and they said the exact words: "I don't know why you are still waiting. They could fit 30 people and a jacuzzi down here". So yeah, thanks for that. So far you would say it was a terrible experience right? Well yes, but the music saved it all. The DJ was great, the drinks were affordable, the toilets were clean and the location is very convenient. If you want to grab something to eat before dancing, just go upstairs to Pizza East and have a nice slice (order one for me too). Beware: this places closes at 2 am, and if I were you I would pick my coat from the wardrobe 10 or 15 minutes before they start to turn on the lights.

We were ever so early because besides the bar staff, there were only two other people down there. No matter, we were able to make our own fun. The cocktails here are amazing. After the bar staff dissuaded our friend from ordering Jagerbombs, they persuaded her to order a round of Concrete Flips (Espresso, Amaretto, Kahlua, Egg and Sugar). Yum, yum, yum! Because we never learnt our lesson about mixing spirits, we ordered a delicious round of white peach Bellinis. I highly recommend. By the time we left, the place was rammed and it looked like people were settling in for a heavy night of drinking and dancing. I'm definitely going back!
