My husband & I spent 2 awful nites there a few weeks ago! Something should have "warned" us upon check-in as the clerk asked us to pay immediately! We had traveled for about 10 days in England prior to this stay, and no one else asked for this! They simply waited until we checked out.
This place was not only run down but also dirty. We tried dinner there, and the bottle of water (it was not bottled water but water put in a quart size bottle which was what we had asked for) that was brought to us had a fly in it! When we pointed this out to our waiter quietly, he simply stood there and kept looking at the bottle and moving it around until he, too, saw the fly. He made no attempt to be discreet although there were other diners there. Since I only had a salad, bread and dessert, my dinner was ok.
Breakfast was included so we tried it. Coffee was instant coffee brought in a bowl with a pot of hot water. We didn't drink it as the outside of the bowl was dirty... We left for the day, assuming that our room would be made up as we had paid for 2 nites. But when we returned that evening, our room had not been touched. The carpets were dirty/stained, although the room seemed relatively clean otherwise. We couldn't even watch TV because the channels had so much static it was impossible to keep viewing! Although they had free internet, you have to sign in EVERY 30 minutes.
There is so much more I could say, but I don't want to waste any more of my time or yours. If you do go here, the last thing I want to say is this: make sure your bill is correct. The same person who waited on us for dinner was the same person who checked us out. He attempted to charge us 3 times the amount due for dinner (our dinner was about 25 pounds, and he told us it was 75 pounds, then he tried to place the blame on someone else...)
We were really disappointed and dissatisfied, especially as the price we paid was as much as or even higher than the other places we stayed, and they were absolutely PERFECT! Never again for this place.... read more
