This is one of the greatest private collections of historic aircraft anywhere, that rivals the big aviation museums across the country and is totally worth the trip out. Unlike those traditional museums, PoF keeps many of their planes in tip-top flying condition. I was told that of the 120 aircraft in their collection, 40 are in flying condition. You can tell those apart from their gleaming mirror polished surfaces and the oil pans under the engines to keep the floor clean. The multiple hangars house rare & historic restored aircraft from the Golden Age of Aviation, WWI, WWII and into the Jet Age. Some of the planes that I built as models from my childhood are here in 3D, full size in living color! The WWII birds are my favorites, such as the F4U Corsair (from Baa Baa Black Sheep TV show), P-47 Thunderbolt, P-40 Warhawk, B-17 Flying Fortress, B-25 Mitchell & P-38 Lightning. They even have Tom Cruise's personal P-51D Mustang that he flew in Top Gun: Maverick! They take extra nice care of it and fly it to wherever he needs it. Anything for Tom! Make sure to visit each building because you never know what you'll find. I spoke to a mechanic that was working on an engine for a T-33 jet trainer belonging to a private owner and he was very knowledgeable and friendly. The building towards the back houses a model workshop and it is a modeler's dream like a hobby shop that exploded! In the boneyard are a lot of propeller & jet planes that have seen better days and awaiting facelifts like their brethren in the hangars. Everybody here is amazingly friendly and super knowledgeable about the entire collection, so ask as many questions as you can. While I was wandering around like a kid in a candy store, a number of school groups were getting tours from the docents. I wish I had this while I was that age!

For me personally it was really special as the grandkids would ask questions about the origin of air travel plus very specific questions about the first flight. What better a place to take them( they live in California) to see the very first Wright Brothers plane from 1903 and a 104 other amazing and well maintained masterpieces to give them a first hand touch and feel plus the visual. We were lucky timing wise to be able to see and love an air show in October. The Blue Angels and a couple of other USAF planes and teams sadly could not be there because of the Government shutdown but we had groups from Canada who came in filling in the gaps. The admission for adults is $20 and you get way more than you paid for. This is a must do and absolutely do not miss for all ages. The Air Museum is open from Wednesday to Sunday ( closed Thanksgiving and Christmas). They also feature a monthly special event with a flight demo, lecture and a fun Q and A for the inquisitive fans. Loved it!!

In order we went through the Precambrian, Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Cenozoic periods. The fossils and skeletons were so fascinating. This would have been such a great spot for a field trip back in grade school. I had a lot of fun exploring history and taking selfies. Highly recommended for those who enjoy dinosaurs, fossils, or history!

It cost $24 for two people to get into the museum. The parking was free, but you do have to check in with the parking guy he'll print you out a pass since it is still a college, but I post some pictures of the museum. It was somewhere nice to go especially in this heat. it's interesting to see the different artifacts and fossils. It's a nice little date day or kid date day but like I say, give it a try and you decide.

I did not know this and parked far by the mall because of it. Everything is super clean inside and I loved how it's a completely separate space upstairs. The staff was really friendly. The young lady who helped me had colored hair and glasses and she was just so helpful and kind. My little boy was very excited to play once we were in there. The best part is the water area. Kids love water and there's so much to do just in that area. If I'm being honest, everything else fell short. It was cute but not enough things for tots to interact with or be distracted with for more than a few minutes. I honestly don't think it's worth the price. $15 for kids and $16 for adult. I don't really get places like this that charge for adults too. I think it should be one or the other or atleast let it be cheaper. We're looking after our children. So Idk why I have to pay $16 for that. The other downside were the field trips. I checked online and they didn't have a field trip scheduled which is why I chose this date but I'm guessing that changed because it got filled so quickly! I'm glad I got there early and my kids were able to enjoy some time alone especially with how little they are. The field trip was for kids in elementary so they were a lot bigger. That kinda killed the mood. Especially since it feels like more of a place for tots. My little ones didn't know what to do since there were so many kids and they couldn't get into certain water sections. Especially when the big kids are all around the area for shortest height. So that's another reason why I think the price is not worth it. We're paying customers and our time there gets cut short because these field trips take over. Maybe there should be specific times just for that? We could barely walk through some areas. And I was trying to not have my little ones knocked down. Overall, I liked it but it could use improvement

I personally would not go for the normal $16 per person. That's a lot for a family of 2 or more kids!! However, anyone with SNAP/EBT/WIC can get four tickets for just $6 each. Now THAT is worth it! We truly enjoyed our time and I'd be happy to take the kids again in a few months at that low price.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience here at Rubel Castle. Our host, guide,…read moreand local "Rubelligent" volunteer, Ms. Kathleen had all the intel about this historical property. She was so knowledgeable and helped set the stage for us to slip into a forgotten era and get a glimpse of how imagination met inventiveness with a DIY charm. ~ A LITTLE BACKSTORY FOR YOU ~ It's not pronounced Rubel as Barney from Flintstones. Rather, it's like Target is to Targét when we are trying to be fancy. So that's Rubel as in "Roo-bell." Unlike modern-day construction, Rubel Castle wasn't built overnight. It was made of collected recyclables and construction rubble that spanned many decades and took several friends and volunteers to build it. For Michael, however, the lifetime inspiration was first sparked at the age of 9. His love for canons was where it started and the rest is history you can hear about on the tour. But don't just show up like we did randomly one day. To book, visit RubelTours.org and make a reservation. ~ OUR TOUR EXPERIENCE ~ It's as if Michael Rubel, the creator and mastermind of this enchanted dominion had intended it to be--magical. Built in the castle period of wood and tin, every corner captured our interests, from antique cars to the 1890's Seth Thomas Tower Clock with a unique backstory (and only six in existence today). There were old vending machines, tools, trinkets, and machinery that time had long forgotten. Did I mention there was a drawbridge? Yes, and a dungeon too. I was just waiting for a dragon to come swoop down on us next. Walk in the footsteps of famous visitors like Alfred Hitchcock, Dwight Eisenhower, Jack Benny, and Bob Hope. It's a feast for the eyes no matter where you glance. I particularly enjoyed the bottle house that Michael built in 1968 as his "home" as a kid. That independent spirit was quite charming to see. ~ WATERCOLOR NATURESCAPE ~ We were fortunate to have our gracious host lead us on a tour and organize a special art crafting experience outdoors. It was absolutely lovely beneath the trees and between rusted vintage cars from the turn of the century. We each got a small canvas to paint our flowers in watercolor. (This particular experience takes place in the Spring and Fall, weather permitting.) We heard the squirrels rattling in the leaves and birds chirped and sang in the trees above. We discovered that peacocks apparently originated from this property, compliments of Michael Rubel. And did I mention that on the far side of the property, a custom garden was in full bloom? Thanks to the sheer persistence (and probably delightful stubbornness) of Michael Rubel, we now have this quirky, towering State Treasure sitting right in the middle of Glendora like a fairy tale that accidentally took a detour through a hardware store. This place is beautifully done, and part of its charm is that it's a full-on hodgepodge of relics, antiques, crystal trinkets, and "wait... what is that doing here?" moments tucked into every nook and cranny. You'll marvel, you'll laugh, you'll squint in confusion--honestly, it's everything you'd want in a castle built with love, imagination, and a dash of madness. And let's talk about the makeshift cemetery. Quirky? YES. Fun? Absolutely. Slightly spooky? Only if your imagination is over-caffeinated. But it fits the vibe perfectly--like the castle whispered, "You know what I'm missing? A tiny cemetery." The tours are fantastic, the guides are passionate, and the whole experience feels like you're stepping into a living scrapbook of California history and charming chaos. Overall: Amazing, amazing place. Book your tour. They only do tours every first Sunday of the month, so set your alarms, mark your calendars, tie a string around your finger--just don't miss it. Rubel Castle is truly a California State Treasure, and an absolute must-see for anyone who appreciates creativity, history, and a little eccentric sparkle.
