I am an extremely infrequent visitor to the doctors and like most men I tend to let things get excruciating before I finally admit that I need to see a doctor. With this in mind I wasn't actually registered with a doctor it had been so long since my last visit. So just before Christmas I decided to get registered somewhere close to where I lived. I firstly went to a practice at the bottom of the Antrim Road which resembled a prison, luckily for me they weren't registering new patients, so I wandered further up the road and came to Salisbury Medical Practice. The practice itself resembles an old victorian manor house, welcoming, grand and warm. The doctors and staff evoke the same feelings. I went in to the practice on my first visit and to be honest I didn't even expect to be able to register but to my surprise they asked me to come back that afternoon to new patient registration (Thursday's). Once registered which was a simple process I was then able to book an appointment. To my complete and utter shock I was able to get one the next morning at 10am - Let's put this in to perspective. In 24 hours I was registered, booked and seen by a nurse and doctor. I can not recommend this practice enough - highly professional and caring. Easily the best medical experience of my life. For anyone worried about me, it's just a football injury!

Routine appointments are often booked up well in advance but they have a triage system whereby when you phone in the morning you receive a call back from either one of the GPs or the Nurse Practitioner who will discuss your symptoms and decide how soon you need to be seen, appointments are kept specifically for this purpose. I have lost track of how many GPs actually work here but there are 6 consulting rooms around the main waiting area at the back, a small room opposite a treatment room & a larger treatment room beside reception. Most staff are polite, friendly & helpful. Self service check in allows for quick check in and a reduction in queues at reception. You can register for online services too which allows you to securely book/cancel appointments and order repeat prescriptions. You can nominate a local pharmacy to collect your prescriptions too to save a journey, very handy service indeed.

They are aweful, they mess up repeat prescriptions 25% of the time. If u go to open surgery prepare to sit for 3hrs surrounded by al sorts of other sicknesses and then you can only talk to the doctor about one thing, anything else and you will need to come back and wait another 3 hrs.

Very poor treatment of patients, especially those who have (*gasp*) jobs…read more For example, they have an answering machine, but turn it off when they're not available! So you can't call them during your lunch (or rather, their long lunches), or out of hours, or when they take a "day off for training", which seems to be extremely frequent. This is a real problem when you need to order medicine refills. Another problem is their "open surgery", which is all morning. The idea is that, instead of the surgery managing its time and booking patients' appointments smartly, patients should take a morning off work, arrive at 8:30 HOPING for an appointment, sit there all morning, and finally get seen. OR not get seen, and take another morning off work the next day. Maybe they need to do this, to SOME extent, but doing it ALL MORNING seems like it just gives up on proper management, shifts the burden onto patients, and wastes proper appointment slots. Another thing I don't like is that they pool their GPs, instead of allowing you to see a single doctor who can get to know you. And worse still, the secretaries are FAR too happy to make decisions on their own, about which doctor they'll let you see, or what treatment you're entitled too, or what you can do over the phone vs. seeing them in person, etc. This is all fine and dandy if you're sick once every 3 years, but for those of us who actually need the services of a GP on a semi-regular basis, it's a nightmare of incompetence and lack of consideration.

Cleland Park Surgery has always been my family doctors. They have sorted my sports injuries out…read moremore times than I can remember. My Doctor is Dr Abraham and she has always been easy going and open which is a great help when you are ill. The surgery itself acts as a pillar of the community. It is clean and well organised. The girls or should I say ladies at reception are really hard working and they do there best to make an appointment convenient for you. Recently I had to access my medical records which I thought would be a bit of a hassle. But the process was in fact simple. Thanks to the staff at Cleland Park. One criticism of the place is that the toys in the waiting room are getting rather dated. I know I shouldn't be playing with them but there is not much else to do when you are waiting. The abacus could certainly use a bit of tender loving care.

I would recommend this surgery ,if you feel your doctor isnt listen and feel like a waste of space come here they make you feel important and i know what i am talking about

There are plenty of GP's and they are usually very knowledgeable. Which isn't always the case. My only gripe, well two gripes, is that the parking can be an absolute nightmare sometimes, and also that they make you wait 48 hours to get a repeat prescription. I don't know if all doctors are the same but it's well annoying. lol. Apart from that, I am happy with this practice.

No one likes going to the doctor, so if you have to go it may as well be as best an experience as you can manage, and that is what you get here. Appointments are easy enough to get and all staff, from reception to nurses and all the doctors are so nice. While doctors are constantly under pressure to see as many patients as possible under crippling time restraints, you never feel rushed, you are never just handed a prescription and sent on your way and you are listened to. Any time I have attended I have felt understood and respected and felt better! I hope you don't need a doctor, but if you do these guys have it all in healthy spades.

They give assurances that under this new style appointment system a patient would be able to access an appointment the same day, no they cannot and do not have an option to book the next available appointment. Even the emergency appointment number is policed by an unqualified medical person who is Making medical decisions if the patient is sick enough to be put through to a doctor. They are putting patients at risk in this practice and unworkable system. If they are so busy, why are they advertising for more patients on their website?

I now have to be seen by two doctors which is frankly disgusting, the problem was caused by their incompetence.
