The second summer in our current house has arrived, and with it arrived a big bug invasion. We had ants, crickets and cockroaches in all sizes and shapes :) Called these guys and booked an appointment. The day after, Robert arrived, he was very knowledgable and helpful, explained his findings and started the treatment. We had a great experience with him, and even after few days, when we spotted a cockroach in the house and called them, Robert explain the whole process and why we still see them from time to time, but usually 80% dead or belly up. I would highly recommend those guys, especially Robert, on which we had the experience of working with. I had a family of raccoon residing inside of my living-room wall; having climbed down through a pillar on the outside of my home. YUCK! They were actually trying ti break through the wall. The guys came out (2 friendly fellas with the greatest sense of humor.) They knew I was scared to death of these mean little rascals crawling into my house through the wall; but they kept me calm and laughing as they casually worked away. Not only did they remove the carcass of the dead mother (that my son killed the night before)... they treating the area of entry with a predator scent, they looked inside of the wall from inside and going outside to make sure that the babies had left and then they treated the scent left inside of the wall. They left me a guarantee to come back immediately if I heard one peep from inside of that wall. I am TOTALLY confident that if I call those Old Reliable fellows back, it WILL NOT be a raccoon issue. Refused to provide appointment days (despite agreeing to it since I have dogs and locked gates) I had to ask on every visit that my patio be sprayed, and numerous other issues. They failed to fulfill the so called "contract" then tried to charge me for service they never provided. Save yourself the headache, do not use this company. read more

USE THEM...I would call them again for sure. I did a lot of research and called around. They were the best priced by a long shot. Came out and got the job done quickly and explained what they were going to do. When I called and explained my bee issue Sammy gave me an education about bees and told me exactly what was going on. Seems like a an old honest local family business. All the big corporate corporate pest control companies quoted me 2-3x the price for the same service and included all sorts of "possibilities" to charge me more. Old Reliable said $75 and I wrote a check for $75. Please know- they will kill your bees- that's what they do and they do it well. If you are looking to "save the bees" go to Craigslist and find a bee keeper who will take them away for free or for a similar charge. In my case due to the location and the fact that they got into my attic it was not possible or a risk i wanted to take. read more

Another update for Robert. I wish I could give him a better review, however, there are two more issues remain. First, Robert stated they do not make appointments. Really?? We were told there was a CA law against making appointments. Robert wanted to remediate my last review by offering his services free of charge. Again, we waited all day for him to show up which he finally did at 6pm (they don't make appointments, remember??) No courtesy call to let us know we would be the last on the list. Robert, if you do not make appointments I would advise you to remove that feature from your website. We do not like being lied to. In addition, other reviews state "he showed up on time"? I've using Old Reliable probably close to 10 years now and they've never let me down. This week rain the caused a horrible ant problem right after Thanksgiving, ants all over the kitchen and bathroom. Trying to control it was impossible. I called on a Friday night and Cameron was here first thing Saturday morning and on a holiday weekend. Instant improvement and next day totally gone. Cameron is great, very sweet and did a great job! I don't typically write reviews but I was surprised to see some negative reviews so I felt it was important to put my experience in. I used to be on a contract years ago, now I call operatically only when there's an issue with ants. Never had billing issues after canceling my contract. read more

You have got to be kidding me. I called for an initial quote and the lady literally was yelling at me. She was so short with me and rude. When she finished yelling at me, I told her I had a few questions. She said, and I quote, "I'm about done with you but go ahead and ask." I said "You're about done with me?" and promptly hung up. DO NOT USE. Cancelled service in July 2017 and continued to receive bills for services not rendered. The office assured me that these were mistakes and to ignore them. I have now 2 YEARS LATER received a collections notice. I contacted the office and the lady hung up on me twice. read more

i got the whole speech from Robert on how great he is at catching rats, and was quickly offered to sign a contract. i was promised, and i repeat promised, rats will go away. turns out he only left two plastic boxes with some food/chemicals inside. for that i had to pay $150 plus $50 for his boxes. needless to say, this "service' did not affect our rats situation in any way. when i tried to talk to Robert about that he replied " i cant make them eat it". that is what you get for $200 with this company, two plastic boxes with some shit in it. i feel like a fool for not refusing the service in the first place, Last time i called Ecola and the rats were gone for almost a year, which is good considering the area we live in. Great company. They were able to schedule us in immediately to remove a huge nest of yellow jackets that had been stinging my family and me every time we stepped into our backyard. The brave guy faced our yellow jackets head on. He found their nest in the ground and got to it. Very affordable service and the guy who removed them was quite a character. He definitely has more guts then we did. He also left us with some tips on how to keep them and other insects away. Overall, a great company. We'd definitely use them again. read more

I called to schedule an appointment - the lady told me she would set up an appointment the next day between 8 and 9am and would call 30 minutes prior. The next day....8am....no call. 9am.... No call. 10am...... No call. I then called back - someone else said they would look into it and call back, but no call. 11am 12 noon, 1pm still nothing. Around 1:30 this beat up old pickup truck rolls into the driveway (no 30 minute call before arrival) and after waiting for over 5 hours I kindly asked if there could be a small discount for waiting so long and the guy hands me some literature, slams the front door and walks away! Do NOT use these people they are definitely NOT reliable! Here are plenty of professional responsible exterminators out there happy to do business with you. This company is UNRELIABLE. They don't come when they say; my initial appoint-ment was for an afternoon and I received a call in the morning saying they were on the way. I wasn't home. Later that day, around 5 pm, the tech called again saying he would come that afternoon. I had already changed the appointment for the following day with the office but they apparently didn't tell him. The person who answers the phone is rude and doesn't let the customer speak, consistently talking over the customer; they argue and are generally unpleasant. I hope my pest problem is solved, but if it isn't, I won't ever use them again. read more

I wish there was less than 1 star here. This company is to be avoided at all cost. I had a rat in the attic problem and they were quick enough to schedule immediate appointment as our normal exterminator was too booked to come in less than 1 week. They mentioned setting up traps to catch the rat. The guy (boss?) shows up and starts setting up traps in the backyard. When I asked if he needed to go up in the attic, he said no. The rats will have to come out to feed and he hopes they eat the bait in the traps and die outside the attic. I thought it was weird and my exterminator confirmed this. They came out, went up in the attic, and set up traps. The rat problem was solved. Then came our problems with Old Reliable. They charged $75 for setting 2 traps and they were to inspect the traps 3 times in the next 3 weeks for $50 a visit. He said on his next visit, they'd be no charge if the traps were untouched by a rat. I called and canceled their services 2 days after their 1st visit. They waited a total of 9 days to pick up the traps and wanted to charge me $50. I ignored the bill and 2 months later, I get another bill for $75 and $50. I called today to clear up the bill and brought up the complaints online and the lady there was rude and unprofessional. She kept saying we've been in the business for 35 years and there are bounds to be complaints. She admitted that they take a lot of customers to collections and that some even return to them for services down the line. I told her I seriously doubt someone would still use them after they took them to colletions. She raised her voice and threatened to have my account sent to collections if we did not pay it in 4 days and then hung up the phone. Very professonal! Please do yourselves a favor and pass on the message to EVERYONE you know. Do not use this company unless you like crappy work, shady people, and like being taken to collections. read more

I love how Portia says that it's the "safety of their technicians" that they are worried about. If your technician was so frightened by the language my husband used on the phone when you were just as rude then why did the technician call us the next morning to see if we still wanted him to come out and spray. When you are vague with appointment times and hang up on customers you should be prepared to hear some harsh language coming your way. You really need to brush up on your customer service skills. We were inconvenienced by having missed an afternoon of work waiting for your company to keep an appointment that YOU made for us and when we questioned the timeliness we weren't apologized to but instead given attitude. Think about how you would have handled it if you were on our side of the fence. Again I recommend Primate Pest Elimination for all your insect/pest problems! read more

They may be old (average age of operative that I saw was 60) but they are a long way from reliable, used them for 6 difficult months, long stream of excuses on missed treatments and appointments to treat inside of house, when they did carry out a treatment the ants, mice and rats were back again within days, I don't think they have a clue!! read more

In the past Old Reliable pest control was reliable, when I was able to deal with Dennis the technician directly. However, after dealing with Sandy this time around, we could not have been more disappointed. About a month or so ago, I called and scheduled them to come to our home in Oak Park to deal with our ant problem. Dennis showed up as expected and handled the problem well, with a great big smile. He is a very cool guy. Last week the ants reappeared and I called Dennis, whom suggested I deal Sandy at the office to schedule the follow up visit as he is not allowed to schedule appointments. After the first phone call, she never called back. I then called again and she acknowledged she received my call, but my message got lost in the shuffle. The following day I received a call from Dennis saying he could stop by the next day and to call him to confirm (although he had no idea what time he could stop by). I subsequently left 3 messages for Dennis, but did not receive a return phone call. I then call Sandy in the main office and left her a message. I once again did not hear back (this seems to be a pattern of her not calling back) so I tried again. This time I was able to get her on the phone, and I expressed that I had left several messages for Dennis, but I did not hear back. It was very unlike him to not call be quickly. Dennis was always responsive. She expressed that Dennis was not supposed to call me in the first place and that the drivers/employees have been notified not to use their phones during the work day (funny that she doesn't realize that I know that Dennis is her husband and his helper is her grandson, but she refers to them as employees). I said I understand her policy, but I still had not been able to get someone to my home to rectify the any problem. Sandy then starting to curse me out over the phone about "lecturing her" and that she was going to hang up on me if I continued. Instead, I choose to discontinue the conversation myself. Being a returning customer, I was shocked to receive this kind of treatment and would not recommend this service to others in our area. With so many other pest control players in our areas, I would think customer service would be a top priority with this company. Besides their "superstar employee" Dennis, I will have to take our business elsewhere. read more

They sent a old drunk man to my house to place Tennis balls all around our property. Same guy had to come back here 3 times again because their method never worked.
