Okay, here is the story on this place. My husband and I were up at Old Orchard Labor Day weekend of 2008. We loved it.
This year (2009) was extremely horrible. My husband and I went with another couple camping on Memorial Day weekend. I'm going to say that if you are not a partyer, this place is NOT for you. We camped on the point...site 25 to be exact. This was the most beautiful spot because you had the water on both sides, but we had to deal with a bunch of partying teenagers that partied until 6am both Friday night and Saturday night.
Our neighbors called the rangers and complained of the noise because they had kids trying to sleep. The rangers wouldn't do anything...then the cops were called. There was ALOT of UNDERAGE DRINKING. The next morning we come to find out that the campground was vandalized. Bikes were missing, car doors were keyed, coolers broken or missing, camping chairs were brunt in fire pits, etc. If you had anything of value that night, you most likely lost it. We were glad nothing of ours was destroyed. We felt bad for the other campers that did have anything destroyed. We found out one of the near campsite to ours...some one charged a lady that night with a knife because she caught them stealing her stuff. She had to run back into her camper for protection.
Come Saturday afternoon, some one was arrested. Come Saturday night, (mind you that quiet hours start at 10pm) there was loud music playing past quiet time. The rangers were called to the campsite across from us. After they had left, the teenagers said they were going to party until 6am to prove a point. THIS IS DISRESPECTFUL.
Again, my husband and I were kept up all night. Come to about 2am, we left the campground to go to my father-in-laws cabin to sleep. We came back the next morning, packed up, and left.
The campground is a beautiful place, great scenery, etc. But it sucks because of the out-of-control teenagers. I'm sorry to say this was the worse camping experienced I ever had. I have been camping since I was little and I will NEVER go there again. They wouldn't give us our money back on top of it.
DO NOT GO TO THIS CAMPGROUND unless you intend to stay up partying all night or want your safety in jeopardy. My first experience there was so much better. This time around, I will never set foot there again. read more
