I ate here with a friend about three weeks ago on a weekend visit to Atlanta. I learned of the restaurant while watching the reality show Kandi and The Gang. I had fried green tomatoes, fried chicken, and French toast. I enjoyed it, though it honestly wasn't anything spectacular or anything out of the ordinary. I was disappointed they didnt offer any coffee in the establishment. I will advise you to execute patience if you're going to patron this spot. It took an hour just to get appetizers and another 30 minutes or so to receive the main entree. I think maybe it took so long because they opened at noon, but staff was literally arriving at 11:45AM with us. They were severely understaffed as I only saw two waitress. The restaurant was fully packed. I was hoping to meet the old lady gang and maybe even Kandi. I didn't get that experience, but I was able to meet and take a photo with "Patrick" from the show. It's a bit on the small side, but overall, a southern comfort feel. If nothing else, it's a staple restaurant and worth visiting at least once.

So my husband and I checked out OLG on a Saturday around 1p, we paid for parking down the street at a lot ($20 for 4 hours) but were seated right away. Zee was our waitress and she was the best along with her manager Tyrese. She gave great suggestions and was very personable and made us feel right at home. We even got to meet Aunt Nora and she was soooooo sweet, just loved how she mingled and talked with us. The ambiance was cute and rustic, I don't know if I really expected glamour but it was decent seating that could use a nice upgrade to the bathroom and tables/chairs. The food was really good! I suggest the lamb chops, collard greens, black eyed peas and rice, fried deviled eggs, and salmon bites! I ordered Mac and cheese but by the time I remembered I was already full. The mashed potatoes had a little too much garlic, sweet potato soufflé was good but I could taste too much nutmeg and the rib tips were good but cooked just a tad bit harder than I like. The cornbread was super good!!! I got some sides to go and enjoyed them just as much. Honestly, it all was really good but preference kicked in with some options. The Hennessy strawberry margarita was really good too. I'll definitely be going back, just will have to make the drive. It wasn't too busy so we came at the right time.

Deviled eggs and salmon bites were really good!

Food: Food was pretty good. Fish, Mac n cheese, greens, cornbread, yams, and fried chicken were all good! The grits were average at best! Service: Staff was extremely nice. Very welcoming and how you want it to be. Ambiance: It's just ok. They might want to hire someone for this. Wasn't busy in there and really don't understand why it took so long to get food. Overall I liked it. Enough to go back when I'm in the A again? Probably not, unless it's for some of their fried chicken and Mac n cheese to go.

Ambiance: Bright & airy restaurant with historic Southern charm featuring a bar area and multiple dining tables. I absolutely loved everything about Old Lady Gang! The food was phenomenal. Perfect spot for brunch, grabbing cocktails at the bar, celebrating an occasion, or a dinner date. First time having deep fried deviled eggs - and wow! A must order! Also highly recommend the fried green tomatoes. Their Shrimp & Grits were the best we've ever had. Every dish was full of flavor! Quick and kind service. It did seem like they might get busy on weekends. Easy walk from the Garnett train stop (we're clearly tourists and had an easy enough time figuring it out.) Street parking available. They do not take CashApp or Apple Pay. Decent pricing for the amount of food and for how good/unique it is. I will for sure visit again next time I'm in Atlanta!

I've had this place booked marked for years. And finally made my way here. Parking is horrible to get here. I came mid afternoon so there weren't many customers. It's a clean designed restaurant with a bar inside. I ordered my meal to go so I could catch my flight. I got the fried chicken wings with mac and cheese & rice. It was made to order so took about 20minutes to get my order. The chicken was cooked perfectly. I think they put Parmesan on the outside of the wing, which gave it extra flavor. The mac and cheese was good here too. I thought the fried chicken wings were excellent. I wish I would've also ordered the deep fried deviled eggs. But I guess that could be for a future trip.

After all these years and the hype im finally able to experience the OLG restaurant. For a weekend with so much going on downtown it is actually not busy at all. Able to get in, get drink quickly and order. So far so good!!

I am a big bravo fan and love Atlanta housewives. I had to check out Kandi's restaurant. Aesthetically very trendy and one of the tvs are even playing Bravo! I was eating it all up. Service was 5/5 from the friendly hostess to our server. Heads up they do charge 18% gratuity regardless but I had no issues with it as our server was extremely attentive. I wish I could remember his name! The cocktails played into the old lady gang lifestyle. I ordered the housewife cocktail for $14 it was delicious. I also ordered the lit cocktail and it was similar to a Long Island. The food really surprised me! Sometimes you are just going for the name but the old lady gang is whipping up some southern goodness! I ordered Mama Sharon's fried chicken $23 and cleared it. The chicken was crispy and seasoned to perfection. The Mac n cheese was to die for along with the mashed potatoes. My hubby ordered mama Sharon's French toast and chicken $24. He was bummed there were no waffles on the menu but still hit the spot. The peach cobbler for dessert was a delicious send off for the meal. Overall, a delicious spot and would dine again!

I hate to say it but this meal certainly could have been better. I was excited to come here, and every local we told was like "oh yeah they're just okay." The locals were right. :/ These were the tiniest little chicken wings I have ever seen, and there were only 4 of them! Who orders 4 chicken wings? The fried green tomatoes weren't bad though! They were rather large and still crispy. I really did not love the shrimp and grits. The shrimp just tasted too fishy, like there was no seasoning or anything on them. The grits were a bit too runny, but I did really like the idea of using sun-dried tomatoes in them. I don't even like sun-dried tomatoes but they were really yummy in this dish. My girlfriends both got lamb chops and they both said they were really good, so maybe that is what I should have gotten as well. Service was really not great. Felt like nobody really wanted to be there. They also added multiple entrees we didn't order on our bill, and when we asked about them they immediately just took the bill and took them off. Felt like they were trying to pull a fast one on us and knew they were caught.

I'm so excited that I had the opportunity to visit the the Old Lady Gang. Two things are certain the food is good and the customer service is great. The staff was very kind, helpful and friendly which to me is very important and you can see that caring for customers is a value at OLG. We ordered the Fried Green Tomato, Fried Fish Dinner, and Fish and Grits. I am going to review each item in the dish individually to attempt to give an accurate review of the food since I've been seeing some mixed reviews. The mac and cheese was really good, it was creamy, cheesy and rich. You could actually taste a hint of the evaporated milk which I actually enjoyed, the fish was crisp soft, flaky, and perfectly seasoned. I also enjoyed the corn bread, it was the perfect texture and was really good. Cons: the collard greens were over seasoned, so pairing it with the other dishes that were each individually tasty and bomb was overpowering tbh. Additionally, the pulled chicken on green tomatoes was a bit too rich, the seasoning was too saturated. Overall, I'm happy with my experience and would love to visit again. The drinks looked very tasty but too sugary for me. Can y'all add a diet sweet tea? Lol

I've been wanting to try Old Lady Gang for a while now, and finally got to try them out while visiting Atlanta. I had the fried fish dinner and it was sooooo good. Everything was well seasoned and fresh. Some of the best soul food! When I visited on an early Saturday afternoon, there street parking available and there was no wait time. We were able to be seated right now. Our server was great and helped with recommendations. Definitely will be visiting again.

If you're looking for food like your Mom, Aunt and Grandmother made please give this place a visit. The Fried Fish, Mac n Cheese, Collard Greens Black Eyed with rice and the Candied Yam were amazing. The portions are just right, so you can avoid the food comma. Did I mention the drinks? Try the Blueberry Martini the Mrs had two!

Second time around at Old Lady Gang, but this time we sat at the bar. We started with champagne and blueberry martini's which did not disappoint. The bartender really stuck her foot in the martini's, they were soooo good! My entree??? Everything I could have imagined. The food was hot, full of flavor, and the portion was huge! I took my friend here for her birthday because she wanted soul food, and she's been raving about the restaurant since. We must go back. While it took awhile for the food to come out, it was totally worth it.

I loved everything about this place but the communication. I go to brunch each month with friends and prior to our outing I reach out to the restaurant to get information about parking, groups, timings, etc. When I tell you this restaurant does not respond to email messages, Instagram messages, Facebook messages, and they don't answer the phone. There is a contact us option on their website, but they don't respond to that either. So we basically had to go in blind. I didn't like that at all. When I arrived, they wouldn't seat me until everyone in the party arrived. That was fine, but I would have appreciated knowing that prior to getting there. So, we waited for others to arrive all while the restaurant is getting busier. We were eventually sat, within ten minutes, and our server greeted us at our table within five minutes. I enjoyed my food. Some of the people at our table said their food was too salty and one person had a challenge with her burger. The server gave her a bit of a hard time sending it back; which we didn't understand but okay. It was like she didn't want to take the food back, but it was not prepared correctly. The space inside is okay. The decor is nice; pictures of family members on the walls. It was cute. We definitely had space to move around at our table. The people around us were sat a bit close, but it wasn't horrible. We had no problem at all parking on the street in front of the restaurant, but they also have a lot behind it that you have to pay to get into. If you are driving too fast, you will pass the driveway to turn into the lot. So, drive slowly. I would try them again knowing I need to arrive early to park for free on the street and my entire party needs to be arriving at the same time. The price was not unreasonable either. I spoke with the manager who said she was new at that time. I told her how I tried to reach someone to ask questions and she admitted they do not utilize or check any of the methods I tried. She said they were not accepting phone calls either because they are just too busy.

Ask the Community - Old Lady Gang

Is there an 18% automatic gratuity added to all bills there?

Yes! The service was fine. There was a random singer off the street that wandered in and the staff disappeared, we didn't like that.

Is there still long lines on a Monday?

I wouldn't say long lines but there is still a long wait.

How do you get reservations or get on the waitlist? There's not a link for that?

I don't think they take reservations.

Is their outdoor seating dog friendly?

There was outdoor seating but I don't think it is dog friendly.

Does this location have outdoor seating?

Yes in the back; however I'm unsure of the changes since COVID-19

Do they still take reservations online?? Last time I went in August 2019, I made a reservation, but now I'm February 2019, it won't let me.

    Yes; I booked through OpenTable

This will be my first time coming from the DMV area I booked at 2pm with an reservation do you just walk ahead of the line and tell them you reserved or just wait in line?

Go inside to the Hostess stand and let them know you have a reservation.

Which location seems to be better?

Good morning Denise, There is only one location on 177 Peters Street in Atlanta and it's very good. I'm not aware of any other location at this time.

Do you have to have a reservation or can you wait?

Pretty sure you can wait. I saw a line out the door when I tried to go!

    Is this place kid friendly?

Yes it is...kids weren't and I'm sure aren't allowed to run around and there is no kids menu or coloring books...it is more of an adult atmosphere but if they know how to behave in public it shouldn't be a problem.

Is there a fee for bringing birthday cake?

I only went there to eat I suggest you call them and ask

Does OLG offer a happy hour?

You know what I'm not sure. I would assume so since they have a AWSOME bar menu.

How to make reservations? I'll be there in April for my birthday and don't want to miss out.

    Use OpenTable

What days and times is this place least busy?

The earlier the better. It's best to be in line about 30 min before they open to make sure you get a table. When we went it was on a Wednesday it wasn't that busy

Will be visiting in December. Is Friday night live weekly?

    Yes

Planning on coming to check out OLG from Houston 6/9. I checked Open Table no reservations available . Can I just show up in hopes of getting a seat and what is the best time?

You can show up without reservation but you may have to wait. The weekends are always busy, during the week just after lunch into the evening is a bit slower.

    Are reservations required?

    No but recommended.

What is the phone number to make reservations?

    Try OpenTable

If you make reservations in advance is the wait time still long to be seated? And are they open for brunch on Sunday's?

Reservations are honored and yes, the restaurant is open for brunch.

Please put whole fried okra on the menu. Fresh, not frozen. It would be a hit as an appetizer or side. Would you consider it?

It's not that type of soul food joint.

The shrimp was fresh and not overcooked or rubbery. The grits were smooth. The gravy was well seasoned, but not overly salty or rich. The cornbread and bread or biscuit was good, but not extraordinary. Those were quite dense and heavy paired with the other food. I loved the banana pudding. I decided to have a tapas-style dinner with food from The Works and just had to grab some chicken from Delilah's. The menu is plentiful without being overwhelming, except when it comes to picking a favorite between the flavorful options. I knew that I didn't want or need a full meal and opted for their 3 whole wing option that came paired with cornbread. The young man who took my order was so polite and patient, as there were a few folks in line and waiting for previously placed orders. He let me know that my order would be ready in about 15 minutes so I took the time to continue my food-finding journey around the market. When I returned later, I had lost track of time and figured I'd just poke my head around their stall to see if my chicken was ready. It wasn't at that moment but I took some time to observe the process. There was only one guy in the open kitchen and prep area creating all of the meals and he was on the move. If I could add smells to my review, this one would smell like fried chicken and cornbread. It was all so fresh! When my order was ready, I only made one other stop before heading to my car to go home to my family... but not before I tested those whole wings from Delilah's. When I say that they were fresh out of the grease? Babehhh. It's like he just threw them right into the basket only seconds before. It was sooo crunchy, so juicy, just a fantastic wing. The hot sauce was a nice pairing but some spice in the breading/meat would have taken it over the top but this chicken was delicious. No notes.

Couldn't have been happier with our choice. Reviews I'd seen online mentioned parking is a bit limited and that the restaurant is frequently busy. So we were prepared for that even though we were going on a Thursday mid morning. I think there was an influx of people celebrating graduations because it was in fact very busy. However we got very lucky with parking and happened to come in right as someone was leaving. I was sure we would have a wait for a table, which of course would have been fine, but actually we were seated immediately! Which was super nice and unexpected. The atmosphere is bustling but not in a bad way. The restaurant itself is adorable and has a lot of character. It feels like you're having breakfast at an old friend's house. The service was great and our food came out in a very reasonable amount of time. I ordered a specialty coffee, I believe it was the almond joy cold brew, and it was delicious. Strong, which is how I like it and not overly sweet. I ordered the chicken biscuit on the waiter's recommendation and it was absolutely the best fried chicken I've ever had. Juicy and crispy. My husband ordered the pimento cheese omelette and was very happy with it, the bacon was thick cut and smoky and flavorful. The pimento cheese grits that came on the side for me were also a stand out, such great flavor. The biscuits are fantastic and the blueberry basil jam that came with my husband's meal was such a nice touch. We will absolutely make a point to come back to Buttermilk Kitchen next time we visit the Atlanta area.

First things first: the Chicken Biscuit. Buttermilk Kitchen's biscuit is on the crunchy, honey-flavored side. I personally prefer fluffier, more buttery biscuits, so this one wasn't my favorite. That aside, the chicken was crispy and well-seasoned and paired well with the cheese grits. If you ever wanted a dry, crunchy version of Homegrown's Comfy Chicken Biscuit, come give this a shot. I also tried the Hash Bowl, which was a bit underwhelming. It was a *lot* of potatoes compared to the eggs and bacon bits, and there wasn't a lot of seasoning other than the bacon. Would rather recommend one of the other options if you end up visiting. The drinks are good as well, would recommend the matcha latte (not too sweet!) and the French Press coffee.

What a great experience sitting at the bar for dinner…read more I was quickly greeted and got my drink order taken care of. I ordered a two piece white with slaw and greens. Awesome flavor! The staff let me sample the potato salad which was amazing. Was told the story about the lady that makes the pies and had a slice of pecan. Very good. I recommend you give them a try, because I will be back on my next visit to downtown. Enjoy!

The chicken was alright, but I wouldn't say it was the best I ever had, let alone consider it the world's best. This joint is located in the lower hub, but I believe there's also an outside street entrance. Upon entering, we were told to sit anywhere. The interior is rather dim, and it wasn't super clean as there were still some crumbs on our table from the last people who dined there. There is also a very casual feel to the place, exemplified by the fact that food is served on styrofoam plates and paper trays. FOOD: 2-Piece Dark (Thigh & Leg) (4/5) - Chicken was nice and crispy, but nothing crazy special to me. I was expecting it to be spicier. Liked it more with the Louisiana hot sauce on the table. The chicken rests on a slab of white bread and is served with average slaw and sweet baked beans. Fried Okra (3.5/5) - First time having fried okra. Not bad, and I guess frying it eliminates the slimy texture associated with okra. SERVICE: I am not usually one to complain about service. The person who served us was sweet when we did interact, but it was so hard to get their attention to order and get the bill. But beyond that, the kitchen was noticeably SLOW. My brother and I literally only ordered one plate/portion to share since we wanted to try more places, but it took over half an hour to receive our food. They do emphasize that food is cooked to order, but I still found the wait to be baffling. TLDR// Come here or don't, but if you do, make sure you are not on a time crunch. Maybe I am just being harsh because I was expecting more from a place claiming to have the world's best.
