Cracking pub cracking beers and a good time to be had. Live music nights do it for me and it is well worth a visit!

This little pub rests conveniently on a walking route back from the Lizard. It's a bit unassuming…read moreand easy to look over with the characteristic blackboard sign outside with quirky witicisms trying to draw hungry hikers through their door. It's easy to walk past it, very easy in fact. And if you're one to judge a book by the cover then you might be hesitant to try this pub. What drew me into the pub was a small white menu posted outside their cream colored pub - a questionable move but either way I glanced and it and saw something called the "Nemo Burger." It was a breadcrumb battered fish fillet with gherkins, and salad between two ciabatta buns. I ordered it happily thinking I would get a fairly decent sized burger but instead the monstrosity they placed in front of me would have sufficed for at least a small family. The only way to describe it was a fish and chip sized fillet in between two slender ciabatta buns. My husband ordered the fish and chips , which were of an equally sizable portion and ate his without giving me a taste (rude). When we went it was not a particularly nice day, that is to say, it was awful. It was blustery, with a biting wind, and spitting rain as the cherry on top. After a fairly lengthy and very cold coastal walk sauntering into this little pub, being sat next to a warm fire, and eating this amazing feast was the perfect way to end the day. The price of the food was a bit pricey, the total cost for food and tea for both my husband and I came to £35 but for the amount of food we received it was well worth it. He servers were extremely attentive though we were the only diners in at the odd hour and our food came quickly. So if you find yourself at the Lizard, tired after a long day of walking I would recommend getting a pint, warm food, and resting your weary feet here.

This is a friendly pub that is run by a welsh couple who know how to cater for the holidaymakers…read moreand the locals that mix to make up the clientele. The beers include Doombar and a guest ale for the discerning real ale drinker. The food is standard pub fayre such as steak, lasagne, ham egg chips, curry, scampi etc, but it is done really well. For example, the sirloin that was ordered rare, really was, not medium rare as you usually get. The onion rings were the usual frozen kind though and the lasagne was tasty if lacking the expected White sauce layer. The steak is £13.95 and so at the top end of pub prices but good value all the same. All the meals are available in kids portions (rather than a separate kids menu), the children were welcome in the bar and allowed to play on the pool table too. All in all a family friendly place to finish a long day on the nearby Praa Sands beach.

Salad was higher quality than I had expected in a pub. Service was friendly. My husband had a good lamb shank with mint sauce. Nothing extraordinary, fairly simple, but it worked for us. And unlike the more upscale pub down the road in Germoe, this place had a free table. More old fashioned pub atmosphere than the other place too, more comfortable. This would be the better place with children, or to play a game of pool after dinner.
