What a great place to shop!!! I got 6 filets cut to order, 2" thick and they were so tender! Beautifully rich red meat, and so delicious!! Boneless ribeyes are gorgeous! And the prices were really good, some as low as $10 less per pound than local grocery stores!! The store has some essentials for bbq or smoking meats but the real standout was the owner and the butcher! They were really friendly and helpful. Oh!! Be sure to check out their smoked cheese! We got cheddar, pepper Jack and Swiss, they are all so rich and creamy! Bottom line: if you like your beef rich and tender at a great price, without all the chemicals of the over processed meat plant to grocery store, check this place out! This is a must-see when visiting (or living in) Middlebury. Every time I visit home I bring a cooler in order to bring a bounty of meats back to Louisville. I recommend their jalapeno cheddar brats and their delmonico steaks. The service is great; Randy and his staff are always friendly and helpful. Finally, it's awesome to see this back in use as a butcher's shop. Oh. My. Meat. This is a spectacular meat shop. They cure their own summer sausage, smoke their own jerky, grind their own sausage, and breakdown sides of beef and pork. You'll also find a variety of locally made cheeses & deli sides, small batch sauces and spice blends, craft sodas, and some dried goods. The store is in the old Middlebury Town Gymnasium, and the historic building is pretty cool looking. I purchased one of their Hawaiian Bratwursts, which is supposed to be a local favorite, and enjoyed the unique flavor. I asked for a sample of the Pfefferwurst and ended up buying some. It's an amazing spicy summer sausage type thing made with 3 peppers-the flavor is really outstanding. Several local customers came in while I was browsing and all 3 seemed to know the staff members, who were really friendly. Best smoked ribs ever!......and I lived outside Kansas City for years. They smoke on Thursdays. Order quantity of slabs, pick up Thursday afternoon....serve still warm. Wonderful! Cost rivals the shrink wrapped slabs you get in the grocery stores, but no comparison in taste. Did I mention their smoked turkeys? I've served the last two Thanksgivings.
