Man, I thought Sam's had good food, deals, and staff. Best pizza in the area by far. If ever I dreamt a dream Beyond a starless bite Behold an invention so pure Of bright epitaphs "OHPP" - Trevor John Panarello

First time coming here since they opened, and the waitress was very friendly and attentive. Inside was spacious considering how small it looked from the outside, with lots of seating available inside and on the patio. The food was good, I loved the Stix appetizer, loaded with sauce so good! Kids loved their cheese pizza with mac&cheese and pineapple, and my husband really liked his sweet and spicy pizza i ordered a meatball sub and due to me being pregnant was unable to eat it due to an onset of an aversion to it unfortunately but my Daughter loved the meatballs and cheese and we did bring it home! I did have the sugar stix and loved them very soft and sweet with a great dipping sauce. They even had athletic N/A beer available for my husband which was great. We did have one small mishap with our food taking a little longer than expected due to two pizzas in our order running into each other in the oven (per the waitress ) so they had to make fresh ones since the others were too burnt. We weren't too worried but they did fix the problem and made it right for us as well. Overall we had a great experience, casual dining and laid back vibe were perfect for our party of 7 including little kids. We had a great time and will definitely be back.

Check out this spot for great lunch deals. Haven't had anything yet I wouldn't order again. Good local brew selection. Come for the food, stay for the vibe!

I grabbed a handy-dandy grocery bag out of my cabinet and put the salad and small pizza in it and WALA! It fit perfectly.

Service is a little slow from time to time, but the pizza and wings are great. Good beer selection. Highly recommend.

Their food is delicious and prices are reasonable. Their bartenders make the best bushwaker' in middle Tennessee. Yummy sweet drink with a kick! Anytime I have visitors come into town, I'm sure to take them to Sam's to eat.

About 20 minutes for 2 people. They do have a cool text system so you know how long you've been waiting and where you are in the queue. Appreciated that. It was pretty warm out, and they had the big windows open, but there was no breeze, and we were inside in a corner. Our server came about 10 minutes after we were seated. He was very nice, but never refilled my empty water glass, and my hubby had to ask twice to get a 2nd beer. I ordered chicken tenders with a side of broccoli. I got fries. Fine, the universe wanted me to have more carbs. The food was ok. I think the food is a little more consistent at the Hendersonville location, but its like a cave in there, and I am not a bat. I don't think this is a great place to drive to for lunch. It would be pretty convenient if you're hungry and out on the lake. They have a fairly good sized courtesy dock and the boaters seemed pretty skilled at coming and going.

Was my very first visit and the food and service were exceptional…read more I will be going back very very soon!

4.5 The new year is…read moreas good as time as ever to try a new (to you/me) restaurant in an unvisited (by me/you) part of the midstate. Old Hickory Blvd is to the Nashville area as Peachtree is to Atlanta: it's everywhere and nowhere at the same time and no one knows where you are if you say you're on it. Well, needing lunch on a Friday in the new year, I made my way onto Old Hickory to see where it took me. It led me to... Old Hickory and Granddaddy's Original Hot Chicken Shack. It had been on my radar for a while but I never had a reason to me in this part of the county. I decided to make time on this day. Besides the potential gastric distress I find myself avoiding hot chicken because of how colonized and commodified it's become. What was a community staple (and not a 'Nashville' food) has become something that's turned into a chain item, largely without the very people who made it a thing (creators and patrons). Incredibly frustrating. So, when I decide to eat it, I want to make sure I do so responsibly and with consideration. Hence, Granddaddy's. I parked in the ample lot and walked in to find a small dining room that smelled incredible. I was greeted with an authentic smile (you can see it in the eyes and hear it in the voice) and asked (first) how I was doing and (secondly) what I'd like. I answered ('well; thanks for asking' and 'shredded chicken sandwich & fries to go, please.'). In all my professional eating*, I don't think I'd ever had shredded hot chicken. I was going to learn that day. I sat down and watched TV as my food was prepared. After the conclusion on my show, my food was ready. I thanked the folks behind the counter, smiled, waved, and hit the bricks. I noticed that I made a muscle when carrying the bag. This was a good sign. It was also a long drive back to my house. I got home and realized why I had to exert effort to lift my food: it was huge. You definitely get your money's worth. On an over-sized bun, I had an extremely generous amount of shredded hot chicken (medium), cheese, ranch, and pickles. As you might imagine, the flavor combo was A+. What you might not have bet on, though, was the texture win of the sandwich. The soft bun, shredded chicken, creamy ranch, and crunchy pickles added up to a memorable chew with every bite. The fries weren't merely a side. They demanded your attention: a generous portion of seasoned fries that lost neither heat nor snap on the drive from Old Hickory to my home. No matter where you live in the midstate, if you profess to enjoy hot chicken, you owe it to your mouth to make it to Granddaddy's. It was one of the best lunches I'd had in a while. I still think about it. *It's true.
