Very Cute shop in a Very Cute town:) Fun just to walk from Shop to shop. They always have cute things in stock and a great Antique selection. The last time I was in a Movie production firm was in purchasing items for an upcoming production. They have the real deal antiques, but also good deals. Always clean and displayed nicely as well. There is a little deli downstairs that you can eat in as well. I think it may be part of the store. Very cute place. Heads up the deli only takes cash so be sure to bring some:) They are very friendly. The whole experience had a small town elegant feel to it:) I will be back. read more

If you like being ignored this is the place for you. No Southern hospitality. Kinda odd to have the person attending to the establishment not respond when you say good afternoon. Passed by me 3 times and wouldn't even acknowledge me. They must have won the lottery this week and don't need to sell any more merchandise. Very disappointed. read more

I've been in a lot of antique stores in my day and Old Hardware is one of the very best! The selection of items is well displayed and they have some wonderful vintage antiques. Looking forward to visiting again. read more

I live in the neighborhood; visited many times & unfortunately, have spent 1000s over the years. I've never had a particularly positive customer service experience there - the interactions have bordered on rude at times - but after today I will not be spending any more money there. I had barely taken 3 steps into the shop when I was very rudely snapped at to hold my well behaved childrens' hands. We go antiquing across the country & are well aware of how to treat items & "handle" our children. It's a shame, because the deli downstairs is a great little spot & every other shop in the area is warm, welcoming & eager to assist. With everyone else in antique Cameron so great, it's time to step it up & learn how to properly assist & treat customers. read more

We attended the antiques fair both days in May 2019. Anything there that was actually antique (it's mostly Craftique and Vintagesque) was so over priced it wouldn't sell anyway. Most items have been sitting unsold for so long the writing on the price tag has faded away. The grouchy old woman at the counter approached me on sight and kicked me out of the store because I use a rollator. (A walker with wheels all the way around) I say 'on sight' because I'd been shopping there for some time and interacting with other employees before she saw me. *She said the rollator "takes up too much room". I was definitely not taking up more room than a customer with a couple bags. I guess I was just in the way of her being rude to other customers, which observation tells me is her job here. Definitely confirm other reviews that note this. If you are disabled or different from her, expect to be hassled if not kicked out. There are many other non-insulting places to shop, and anywhere has better prices. However, if you haven't yet had your daily dose of "you aren't good enough to shop here, get out" this is the place to go. *It is a violation of state and federal law for a business to deny service or access to a person because of their disability. read more

We have visited this shop once before and were not disappointed in their selection on either visit. Beautiful, and carefully selected items in abundance. Be warned their mark up is significant. If you want better prices you should look elsewhere in town or if you are a regular antique shopper, head up to Fredrick, MD or Culpepper, VA-we always find phenomenal pieces at very agreeable prices there. Found multiple items that were perfect for our 1911 four square in Arlington, VA. What prompted me to write a review today is how strangely we were treated by a woman working there. We moved into the lower level and a beautiful cash register caught our eye. My fiancé had a dream the night before with something similar, so we were appreciating the uncanny resemblance. The piece was on a counter behind a stool with a card reading Keep Out. I was taking a photo of the item ( to hunt for something similar on our adventures), when she appeared and asked if she could help us. Perhaps I misread her tone, or perhaps she was still irritated from the item we heard break in the store earlier in our visit-but she didn't appear to be interested in helping at all. I inquired as to the origin of the item, and her response was that she had another upstairs. She then proceeded to hover as we looked at more areas, she'd move about, lurking almost, shifting items an inch here and an inch there. Very passive aggressive. As a business owner myself, and as someone who worked in retail for a long time, I had always found it beneficial to engage in conversation with my patrons. Either to size them up or to facilitate a sale. She didn't know us or anything about us, including items that we considered purchasing. I'll say that this store has the best ambiance in town and the malts in the Dewberry Shoppe downstairs are delish, but I will not be returning to this store because of this experience. I chatted up some locals about it. Learned that the woman was likely, Jane. She has a reputation for being less than hospitable and quick to jump all over shoppers. It's too bad really. But if shes expecting people to pay top dollar for her items, Jane should get an attitude adjustment, and a hug to improve her customer relations. In sales, the goal is to not just sell for profit but to establish lasting relationships for returning buyers. I'm just glad I wasn't the person that broke something upstairs! I'd hate to see the death glare she dished that poor soul. Cheer up, Jane. Life is good. read more

I've been to over 20 North Carolina antique stores or shows over the last 3 months and Old Hardware is the best. Jane and Ken have "great eyes" when it comes to quality antiques and they do a great job at laying things out and describing the pieces. If you're looking for cheap and flimsy this is not your place - but if you're looking for sturdy, quality, statement making pieces this place is spot on. The old building and the attached Dewberry restaurant are awesome too. I'm impressed and have bought several pieces recently for my ongoing 1895 renovation. read more
