Beautiful fountains in the courtyard

Stayed here when driving through from TX to NC. Perfect location, very comfortable rooms, beautiful courtyard & incredibly hospitable staff. Had a perfect light breakfast before getting back on the road. Will definitely make this where we stay when making this trip again.

Y'all already know how this begins... I ran away from home! Every year around the anniversary of my Daddy's death, I run! This time I chose Jackson, MS and Old Capital Inn. I'll start with the biggest "selling" point for me was the secure parking. Traveling alone unnerves those that love me so gated parking worked for me. The fact that the rooms are the cutest things ever was great too. My room had everything you could possibly need, even a towel warmer! Imagine! There was a Keurig with coffee and such on the cute little desk as you walk in. There was also a list of local restaurants in a frame on the desk. Once past the entryway, you enter the bedroom where there was a chair, queen bed and an entertainment center with a television. I loved the list of channels. Who has time to be looking through each one? The bathroom was a typical bathroom but the shower was HUGE! They had shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer and the like. I also had more towels than I could use by myself but you know I did. I think it's safe to say that I enjoy the Inn and my stay! Oh! The parking! I read a few reviews that mentioned getting in the gate was difficult. This doesn't have to be the case. You have to park and check in FIRST. Once you've checked in, they'll give you the code to the open the gate. Make a mental note of that. I can't close without mentioning Wes. My stay at Old Capital Inn wouldn't have happened without him. There was a problem with plumbing and they were going to have to cancel my reservation. Wes called me to tell me of this issue. He was very apologetic and felt so bad for even having to think of canceling my reservation. Since I was already halfway there and driving, I couldn't be looking for another place to stay. He offered to make some calls for me. When he called me back, he had made tentative reservations for me at a place his friend runs. I told him why I was coming to Jackson, and the Inn (Daddy's death anniversary), he felt even worse that he was having to cancel. He called me back and had worked some magic!!! They moved some things around and actually had room for me!! Wes was/is my hero!! I'm so appreciative of all he did for me!! Wes didn't have to go above and beyond for me but he did! Wes will be my forever friend! I'm so thankful! When you check in tell him Billie Faye said hey! With that I'll close my review. I just think you should know that Old Capital Inn and Wes are the best things in Jackson, MS! Peace out!

This hotel is lovely. The rooms are spacious and decorated so cute. Super clean and the beds are so soft. Our room had a cute balcony that overlooked a cute garden. The staff was very welcoming. I would recommend this establishment to anyone.

Breakfast in bed!

After our wedding, we spent the night in a Honeymoon suite. The staff was extremely kind and friendly. We got champagne and a breakfast in bed the next morning. The room was definitely worth the price. We would definitely go back!

Ok, this one's a mixed bag, folks. I've stayed at this Homewood Suites over a half-dozen times, so…read moreit felt overdue to finally leave a review. To be fair, Jackson, MS wasn't my destination, it's simply a great midpoint for me to rest when I'm road trippin' between Dallas and Atlanta. The Good: The hotel is relatively new and It's conveniently located near the University of Mississippi Medical Center and VA hospital. A few restaurants are within walking distance, which is a plus. It's also pet-friendly, which is fabulous since my fur babies love a good road trip. Also, the staff is really nice (shoutout to Francine!) The not-so-Good: There's an appearance of clean in the rooms, but not really. On my last stay, I was greeted by couch stains, rusty shower, and some leftover "mystery gunk" in the kitchen sink. It's the second time the TV didn't work, and the fourth time my digital key failed. The entire fridge moved around the kitchen whenever I opened it, LOL. Also, the lobby can get quite loud, since it occasionally turns into a hangout spot for large groups. Know before you go that the surrounding area can feel a bit mixed and while I've never felt unsafe, staying aware is a must. Pet owners, take note: The designated dog areas can get very messy since not everyone picks up after their pets and the hotel doesn't seem to maintain these areas well. If want your pup's paws clean, you'll need to find another spot for walks. Bottom line: When the price is right, this a decent option for an overnight stay. Just know there are some "quirks", and plan accordingly. Happy Stays!

Bathroom very large also and well appointed. Exceptional lighting. 2. Kitchen access upstairs for ice, free soda, coffee, tea or water, homemade cookies bt elevator or stairs. Honor system for alcohol (we didnt try any). 3. Accommodating pleasant staff. 4. Old historic house and small but pretty grounds you can walk around. The magnolias are ancient and spectacular. Wish we could have seen them in bloom. 5. Can order nicely prepared meals to room or eat in library lounge - breakfast or dinner. Def an old southern feel to the place. Cons: 1. Parking was tight and hard to to manuever but they did have a cart available for rooms that are further away - partially broken. 2. In downtown area, kind of dingy and run down - but somewhat charming w many old craftsman homes around. 3. Could have used some hanging baskets and annuals for more color and charm - would help brighten the mood of the run down area of town - 4. And wish theyd answer the phones. We left messages almost everytime we called (they were good about calling back). This leaves one feeling disconnected from a warm hospitable experience.

Monday night the shower door leaked because it doesn't close completely so I used numerous towels to dry it up. Set them out by the door and came back Tuesday around lunch they were gone but not replaced. Noticed the cleaning lady cleaned the room before mine then after mine, collected the towels but didn't replace them. Had to ask her for more. Realize Wednesday morning that the valet took some items out of my vehicle, hotel says the valet company is separate from the hotel. Had to get Jackson PD involved and I'm still missing my items. By Wednesday they still hadn't came into my room to clean it, no big deal I guess, I'm not a filthy person. Had to get my key card reset for some odd reason and my digital key in the app had never swapped to the new room and nobody at the front desk knew how to do it. Sitting at the desk Thursday doing some work. Just happen to look back a certain way and realize the bed is a bed like your house and doesn't sit flush on the floor. Immediately started noticing what looked like almonds or peanuts under the edge of it, a place a vacuum cleaner would easily reach, then I found a receipt dated 5/2025 from Biloxi Ms. had some issues with the ac Thursday night so I checked the filter and needless to say it hadn't been changed in a good while. Lobby is nice except for the glamour shots by the hour deal they do so you have all the local thots in their skimpiest taking pics. I do not recommend this hotel or downtown Jackson for that matter. It's all dingy and rundown and homelessness is rampant.

Lets talk about this Hilton location. HORRIBLE!!!…read more We booked a room 3 weeks ago, drove 6 hours to find out that they didn't have a room for my family. We were told the service staff walked out and they didn't have rooms available. We did book with a third party vendor, which was very accommodating and found us a place to stay. It was not my choice but it did the job. There was no backup plan at the Hilton. Since there was no staff available, the rooms that were occupied had to write their name on a list to get fresh towels, toiletries and etc.... There was a black American young lady with red hair that was remained calm, posed, attentive and professional as the crowd grew with disappointment. She was very helpful. She answered the phone while the others ignored them. Thats how we were able to get moved. Crazy part, it was her second day and she ead still in training. What an experience for her. Hopefully, they retain her and she don't walk out like the rest of the staff. Did I mention that there were a bus load of high school students that they had to find rooms for. So sad. They should have notified guest in advance that this occurred so guest could have made adjustments before arriving to the hotel. The outside and inside were clean and look decent. There is no free parking. Only valet for $24 per night.

The staff I will say are great and try to help with what they can. The first room I checked into was so hot and filthy, I had to request a room change. Not sure why I was given a handy accessible room with a broken faucet, dirty floors and dirty walls. I know it's been hot lately (78F) but the AC units don't seem to keep up in this building at all. The temps in the rooms barely budge lower and sometimes even creep up! Also power seems to be unreliable as it goes out at least once a day! Building looks a little neglected with lots of hallway lightbulbs not working, and just small issues like paint and cracks on doors. At first glance everything will look fine until you start looking more closely. Breakfast is just your usual complimentary fare of eggs and bacon, bagels, yogurt, juice and coffee. You can make yourself some mini waffles with syrup if that's your preference. I did enjoy the coffee very much. Couldn't access the pool as the room cards don't seem to unlock the gate and staff don't really know why. Wifi is also very spotty at this location as I regularly get disconnected for 30-60 minutes at a time. No water is provided so you'll have to get your own. Showers are nice and large with nice smelling soaps. Unfortunately, no moisturizing lotions but Jackson is fairly humid so you might not need. Beds are large and comfortable with those terrible hotel pillows. It's kind of your no frills residential hotels for a decent price.
