I am really mixed with Olathe Tree Service. We have used them three times. While the trees they trimmed always look good, their employees damaged our mailbox with their truck. They admitted to hitting it right away and tried to fix it. It still looked bad and the door won't stay closed, so the owner offered to replace it. It is about a $250 mailbox. He stated he could either wipe our bill or he would pay for the new mailbox and would dig it in for us. I stated I wanted it replaced because it kept flying open; plus, we didn't want to dig the new one ourselves. In the meantime, I asked him to quote our shrubs on the backside of the house. Chet was a no show and called hours after he was supposed to be at the residence to quote the job saying he would need to schedule for another day. This wasn't the first time they blew off an appointment, so I called it a day and just took the free tree trimming as payment. It isn't cool when a customer reserves time out of their schedule to stay home so that a business owner can come to make a quote. We always lock our gate unless we are home, so he would not have had access to the yard. I haven't used Olathe Tree Service since then, because I don't appreciate my time being devalued. My mom used this company for tree removal and was impressed with the kindness shown by the owner, Chet and his superior customer service. They took down a pear tree, sawed off some gnarly vines, and repaired a fence. Can't say enough good things about Olathe Tree Service. Chet and his crew were very professional, on time, and quick with their work. Rain had things delayed a little, but there's no way you can fault anyone for that since their job is working outdoors. Despite that, Chet always stayed in contact with me and on the one half of a day we had nice weather, his crew got after it and got my tree removed and branches trimmed. I took over my own lawn maintenance this summer since I spent about $1,200 last year with little to show for it at the end of the summer. My yard has improved tremendously this year despite the drought, and I saved myself a bundle in the process. As good as it turned out for my grass, my landscaping was another matter all together. I had some hedge trimmers, but there is an art to shaping bushes and trees that I simply do not possess. It think it's inherited because my Dad's bushes always looked like something out of a Dr. Seuss book. So I decided to contract this task. I contacted 3 different companies. One was way over my budget, one couldn't even come out for 2 months, and one was just right. Olathe Tree Service was spot-on in their estimate, worked quickly, and gave us amazing results. We have a big oak tree in our front yard that needed some major trimming and clearing. We had large branches touching the roof of our house and no light getting through the dense dead brush in the tree. We had contacted 2 other companies that came out and bid the job for us. We ALMOST went with the 2nd one but decided to get one more bid and contacted Olathe Tree Service, we are so glad we did! They came out right away and bid for us and they were HALF of what the other guys wanted to do the same job! We were thrilled, we called Chet up to schedule and he was super nice and was willing to work with us. As it turns out a major storm hit our area damaging a lot of tree's (thankfully not ours) so we ended up having to wait a couple of weeks but Chet assured me they would do it ASAP. It was worth the wait, they called me this morning to see if they could come out to which I was more then happy to let them. The only problem I had was that being a stay at home mother of two young toddlers (one who can open doors and baby gates) it wasn't safe for me to leave them unattended to try and dig our tarps out of storage to cover our pond which is under the tree. However Chet and his crew were super nice about it and used their own tarps and covered the pond for me. They also needed out truck moved and offered to do it for me if I gave them the keys so I could keep an eye on my kids. They were so helpful and I never had to leave my front porch, they were polite, professional and worked quickly and cleaned up really well afterwards. Even making sure they got any debris that did make it into the pond out (which we could have fished out later). Last but not least the tree looks amazing! They said it's a good strong healthy tree and it should do really well with this trimming, they said if we get it trimmed every few years it should stay nice and strong with no issues. I would not recommend Olathe tree service. They were suppose to come out 3 weeks ago to cut a tree down for me. Never heard from him.

This review will be an accurate account of the events including any choice language and attitude on my end as well, so as to understand my full outrage at this company and its ownership. I am a neighbor to one of their customers and my property was trespassed on for several hours and the owner was very unprofessional. I came home at 10:30 this morning to a woodchipping truck and multiple stumps completely blocking my drive way. Extremely upset I could not use my driveway due to services being performed on the neighbors property not my own, I asked why the "f" is my driveway was blocked, (this was the second day I came home to them blocking my driveway, the first time I didn't say anything as I was late to work) he appologized and said they would move it. I said ok and that it was bs to just block someone's driveway without notice and that it wasn't the first time they had done it. The truck was promptly moved in front of the neighbors house where it should have been placed to begin with. At this point I assumed the issues were resolved and I then left to run erands and returned at 1:00 to a large truck taking up part of my driveway and a trailer in my side yard full of wood. Never once was permission requested or given to be on my property... which is trespassing. I then asked in an upset and rude tone how long they were going to be as I had scheduled service on my water heater and my plumber needed access to my side yard. They replied with I don't know, shouldn't be too long. I then had to cancel my plumber due to the lack of access and as they were unable to let me know how long they would be. I am now without hot water til Monday. The owner then showed up between 2-3. He had been made aware if my upsets and instead of immediately apologizing for the multiple inconveniences and trespassing, he rudly said "Hi, how are you? while walking by to which i was snippy and replied better if your machinery wasn't on my property, and gave a little laugh after to try and open conversation. Instead of admmitting fault and appologizing, he then became rude, condiscending and spoke to me as if I was a 12 year old girl instead of the 29 year old home owning woman I am. He said well you shouldnt have talked to my guys like that. Dropping the f bomb every other word while yelling at my guys wasn't needed, was it? ( FYI, I dropped one f bomd and a bs and never once raised my voice this morning) Then said I didn't handled my self correctly, and that should have been polite to his men(who were trespassing) and realized they were just hardworking guys doing their jobs, (to which I agreed partially, and would have appologized for but he talked over me never giving me the chance), as he launched into a lecture saying that the neighbor called for service just as I had and my plumber and my plummer had plenty of room and could just go through the front door instead and he didnt understand why it was an issue and I need to deal with it. (Again they were on my property without permission!) He continued on his scolding like tangent and insults to my character for a few minutes. As to avoid further confrontation I did not engage him verbally and remain on my porch silently. When he was unable to goad me into a verbal confrontation, He then said to his men as though I wasn't 10 feet from him " it's ok I have dealt with people like her before". Which indicated to me he has no regard to those around him and that his company has no problem trespassing and inconveniencing people to complete a job. Then about an hour later, an employee requested to use my water spicket (the home they were working on had one) however, I allowed them to fill up their water as it was a hot day and didn't want anyone sick. No genuine thank you was made. Around 4:30 they finally finished. As the men were leaving I appolgized to them for my choice in words to which an eye roll and smirk were the response. I then asked them to let the owner know his behavior upset me and was uncalled for. The owner made no attempt to resolve the situation and upon leaving no apology was made. read more

Chet's crew did a wonderful job with our 7 overgrown trees, including a huge maple and a bradford pear. They did a wonderful job with their work--the house and the trees look awesome! The crew was incredibly friendly, as my daughter and her granddaughter were visiting the day of the work. Scheduling was easy and the price was fair. We will definitely use this company again in the future and several neighbors have already commented on the quality work and asked for recommendations, which we happily provided. read more

They won't come out to just remove a tree stump unless there's a tree attached to it. I was told they would grind a stump in my back yard and was even given a price but that they were "busy" right now. After a couple weeks I never heard back from them. When I tried to contact them, they never called me back. read more
