Skip the drive throughs and hit up a solid choice at @newbohemia we kept is local in St. Paul, but they do have another location in Golden Valley. Something about their @surlybrewing Beer Brat just tastes like being a Minnesotan. Great staff who were helpful and engaging to talk menu choices with. Pro tip: ALWAYS ask your server/ bartender/ barista etc. what they love on the menu. If anyone knows what's the omg thing is it's them. I absolutely love when someone is passionate about the food they are selling at any establishment. If you've been in the industry you'll recognize that sparkle when someone tells you about the have to get thing is their face does this. My delish items that if you're here do yourself a favor and get em are: Surely Beer Brat Truffle Fries (it's a little extra, but does not disappoint) Honey Mustard dipping sauce (homemade, legit) Don't snooze on the table sauces. It's a flavor experience. Spicy Saison Honorable mentions were their homemade ranch and jalapeño aioli and the Juicy Lucy brat for a classic cheese brat vibe. On our most recent venture here, I tried the spaetzle. Hubs had a burger and got the beer cheese soup. I had a bite of the soup and it was so good. The spaetzle was a little plain, but so tasty. You gotta try a beer here too. I had the hefeweizen, which I loved. Definitely stop in the summer and enjoy the patio if you have the opportunity.

Looking at the picture we knew we had to give it try. What cool comfortable place with lots of history behind the building. The owner served us lunch and provided a history behind the restaurant, the recipes and where they get their food products. Their bread is local and their meat is from Usinger's in Milwaukee, WI. I love that place and their products. Well let's get onto the food. I was brave and had the Smoked Liverwurst. Hadn't had it for 30 years. Since I went fishing with my grandfather. Boy it was awesome and brought back some memories. The owner gave me large slices of bread so I could make a sandwich. The mustard and fresh onions made it! My two colleagues were craving hot dogs, so they went with the Yoerg Sandwich. It's the flagship sandwich. A quartier pound dog with German cheese and a pickle spear. It was huge and tasty to say the least. It was only $9.95. Great price for lunch these days. We also had to share a pretzel that came with cheese and mustard. This has earned a spot on our lunch rotation.

An accordionist went from table to table playing classics like The Beer Barrel Polka and Edelweiss as well as some unexpected classic rock faves from the likes of Tom Petty, Queen and others. When they played happy birthday the entire restaurant sang along and enthusiastically chanted "Ziggy zaggy ziggy zaggy". It was a super fun time and my mother in law was happy. Most of us ordered one of the schnitzels. The portions are quite large. My wife and I split the jagerschnitzel. I don't really like to eat meat or fried foods, but there weren't a lot of other options. (Mob rule usually determines our restaurant choices when we go out with our in-laws). I felt it was kind of chewy and the mushroom sauce over salted and sadly lacking in actual mushrooms. That said, everyone else, including my wife, loved their food. My brother-in-law, raved about the roast beef with potatoes; however, he's not exactly a foodie. Bland, salty, overcooked foods are kind of his thing. My mother-in-law had the "pork knuckles". I don't know what exactly constitutes a pork knuckle, but the portion quite large. More like a pork leg, I'd say. She complained that it was way too much food, but somehow managed to put a pretty big dent in it, still saving enough for leftovers the next day. Fortunately, I was the only judgey food snob at our table and everyone else was more than happy with what they ordered. To drink, they had the usual German beers and wine. We ordered the Gluhwein, a spicy mulled red wine that is served hot. Very traditional and really good. I would definitely recommend it. If you want to experience fun, German night out, aren't concerned about your cardiovascular health and enjoy a hearty meat and potatoes type of meal, The Gasthaus Bavarian Hunter is worth a visit.

We had a party of ten, celebrating a 90"th birthday, they helped us celebrate with fun music. They don't provide anything special for the birthday person. The food is in the expensive side for what you get, it's bland at best. They also have a significant credit card surcharge, well beyond a normal credit card surcharge, for any restaurant we've been to. Thankfully we came up with the cash to save that outrageous "tax".

I've been to this location several times and the pretzels are always good. However, the service never matches the food. I went yesterday and it was the worst service I've had there by far. There was one car in front of me. When I got to the speaker there was no response for quite some time so I said hello. A girl with an extremely rude tone said "one moment." Ok, no problem. 10 minutes went by and she had not come back to check on me or take my order. So I thought maybe she forgot that I was there so I said, "Hello." She then got back on the speaker and in a very rude tone said , "I said one moment." She did not apologize to me when I got to the window or apologize for taking so long. I don't mind waiting for my food. What I do mind is when people are disrespectful. I hope the service improves because I really want this location to stay in business.
