I found it odd, they reduced grades for no reason, but to make sure they are below passing after 4 years of work and helping patients through a work based' program. like they failed if it really isnt them. It sound scammy messing with grades 2 weeks before they graduate to lower them when they originally woulda passed. This is what some students showed me and told me that are friends of mine. I think they raise a good argument here.

Don't be too drawn in by the in state tuition of around $3500 a year, because classes and fees will more than double that number. The food you can get with your meal plan is okay at best, unless you're using dining dollars to get fast food and prepackaged food. Maintenance is HORRIBLE. If you put in a maintenance request, it could take a day, to a couple of months to be fixed. My summer dorm had mold growing on the ceiling of the bathroom and it took them 2 months to fix it, and the fix only took about 5 minutes. This was when the dorms were at half capacity, at best, so i'd hate to see how long it'd take during a regular school year. The same people I lived with in summer had maintenance come into our dorm saying that it was "vacant" and that they were doing repairs, during a time they were not allowed to be working on anything. Called the RA on call, because of course housing wasn't available and he told us that we'd just have to wait until monday to get new keys (it was friday evening). Parking is ridiculous unless you're living in the quad, but the other 4 dorms all have to fight for spots which are mostly also for commuters. There's not much of a culture to this school either, so if you're looking for a campus that has a lot to offer culturally, i'd tell you to go to OU or OSU. RAs are in general amazing at their jobs, and the professors clearly know what they're doing (at least in my experience), so that makes this review slightly better.

My Alma mater! After…read moremy short stint in a community college back in 2008, I mentioned to a friend that I was looking for a college to attend for my BA in English. Of course, he said I should attend his college. And now, I couldn't be happier with my degree from University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma! I was won over when looking up information on the college - I could apply online; they moderately accepted all types of students while focusing on the top percentage of high school classes (25 on the ACT, top 10% of class, etc); it is located in a small town and had it's own small community (I had already tried the medium sized college and didn't like it); affordable! I think it was about $10,000 a year - including room and board! Not to mention there are all types of scholarships and financial aide. USAO is the only public liberal arts college in Oklahoma, and it is ranked among the top university in the Nation! Their unique IDS (InterDisciplinary Study) classes bring so much more to each individual's education rather than having them rely on only his or her selected major for learning and growing as a person. This means that art majors won't just study art history and how to create a work. And math majors learn more than just equations. Computer science, Math, American Civilization, Writing - the student will do it all! You might be thinking, "But that is the same as basics at any other college!" Well, you're wrong. These courses "emphasize the complexity and interconnectedness of the human world". And they don't just stop after sophomore year; the liberal arts core of the university "spans all four years of its students' academic careers" (USAO Course Catalog). A couple of the popular IDS classes include the three World Thoughts and PEST (sounds scary, right? It's only Political and Economical Systems and Theories). These classes feature professors that don't focus solely on the math side of the math class or the literature side of the world's writings. And sometimes these classes are team-taught with teachers from different fields of study, e.g. a literature professor and an ecologist for World Thought II. In addition to everything I've mentioned above, here are a few other things that I love: There are all type of clubs where you will meet people from all over the small university that have similar interests as you; because the campus is a small one (think 900 students), you really can be heard; my average class size was 15 students. I had one class that was 6 people! I really got to know the people around me, and I am still friends with many of them; I enjoyed going to class! The lectures and discussions are fun and interesting, from Southern American Novels to Analyzing Video Games - I got to play Portal 1 & 2, and got a grade! The campus is small, so you won't get completely worn out just from walking from one class to another. And the symposiums! Oh, the symposiums! Keynote speakers come from all over to speak, educate, and enlighten. This is one of my favorite things that my "nourishing mother" does. Since I have graduated, in addition to the Emerson-Wier (interdisciplinary learning opportunities and research) and the Giles (citizenship and public service) Symposiums, they have added the Summer History Symposium. And these symposiums' keynote speakers are not just some person you've never heard of before! (Though some may not sound familiar to you, they have all had an impact on our nation): (Emerson-Wier) Jared Diamond, Stephen Greenblatt, James Fowler, (Giles) James Nachtwey, Minnijean Trickey, Dan Barber, and (History) James Robertson. I personally saw Steven Pinker after reading his work "The Language Instinct" in my grammar class (There's that IDS for you). And I actually met and had brunch with Margaret Atwood (holy crap, that was so cool!) What's more, even the professors love the college! And who doesn't love a happy teacher? "Professors at USAO celebrate the limitless potential of the liberal arts mission. The intimacy of the small class sizes and the freedom to employ diverse teaching styles and strategies allow professors and students to enjoy a spectrum of intellectual experiences unrivaled even by large universities." - Dr Shelley Rees. Additionally, the professors know who you are and truly care about your success. Of course, like most colleges, there are going to be a few things I, and other students, didn't/won't like: the cafeteria food was sometimes lacking, but not always; fees, fees and more fees, why does a student without a car need to pay for parking? BUT, you are going to have these little "eh" things about every single college you go to. I know I probably sound like an ad for the college, but I really do feel that this college is amazing and I HIGHLY recommend USAO. I hope you'll love it as much as I do. Oh, and sorry for the 3.5 page double spaced word document... they trained me well in my writing. At least, I would hope that you and my profs think so.
