I'm extremely disappointed and I expected more of OSU-OKC for allowing this situation to continue…read more Justin Hunter, currently Paramedicine Program Director, should be removed from his position immediately. His lack of basic understanding and empathy towards his students is astounding. Yes classes and coursework are extremely important and should be prioritized. Yet Justin Hunter apparently cannot fathom that his students have their own personal lives to contend with while also being students. At the most basic level this consists of a refusal or extreme lack of flexibility to work with students having medical and family emergencies. I will not deny that it has been a normal occurrence throughout academia history that some student will fake emergencies. Those instances should not cause detriment to those who want to succeed but have urgent issues arise that they cannot ignore. Especially if they have proof. Considering Justin Hunter is the Paramedicine Program Director you would expect physical and mental health to be prioritized at a BARE MINIMUM considering he's the head of a MEDICAL FIELD program. Hunter has created and enforced a toxic learning environment due to his unwillingness to work with and understand student predicaments. Students are running themselves into an early grave simply trying to get through the program. If basic critical thinking skills were being used people would realize this also negatively affects the program as a WHOLE. Finding a new qualified Program Director for the Paramedicine program is no easy feat but that should not be used as an excuse. Do better for your students and your program.

I am a adult student in the esthetics program. Francis Tuttle has a a lot of potential. There is a…read morehuge opportunity to learn but the teachers just do not teach. I've learned more from the am highschool esthetic teacher and she literally came in and talked to us for a hour. Our teacher will do 1 demo on a subject 1 time and throw us to the wolves. Everything is on us. If we have questions our questions aren't even answered correctly. I don't trust that I'm getting the right information so I have to resort to YouTube... Which is kind of insane in this field because we are literally working on peoples faces..... Once she teaches us the demo we are expected to practice on our classmates but if we are doing it wrong we'd never know because our teacher doesn't watch what we are doing ever. If you want to learn anything about lashes DONT COME HERE because we no longer can even practice tabbing on mannequins due to our teacher not knowing how to do it. This review was made in 2024 idk if anything has changed but I found this in my drafts and thought I should post it.

If you're planning on joining the adult esthetician program at the Rockwell campus, I recommend…read moregoing elsewhere. The instructor, Ms. Stevenson, needs to retire or be replaced. She barely teaches, constantly contradicts herself, and seems more interested in appearances than actually helping her students succeed. For example, she once tried to put a student on academic probation, which means you're considered behind and can't perform services. But that student had already completed all of her work. Only after being pushed to pull up the assignments did Ms. Stevenson admit the truth. She often doesn't know where her students stand yet is quick to punish. Her grading and rule enforcement are inconsistent. At the start of the course, she told us we could listen to music but not watch TV. Later, I was listening to music with one earbud in--still able to hear if she spoke to me--and she suddenly claimed music wasn't allowed. She dismissed me instead of addressing me respectfully. She bends or changes her own rules whenever it's convenient. When students need actual support, she avoids extra work. For instance, she refuses to submit student hours at 500/600 so we can test sooner and get work permits, saying it's "extra paperwork." That decision directly delays careers but she won't help. Her attitude is dismissive and unprofessional. She rolls her eyes when asked for help, forgets things, and refuses to take accountability. She once yelled at me for performing a service I had asked permission for, then laughed it off without apologizing. She only makes an effort when being observed by higher-ups--otherwise, she leaves us to figure things out through classmates or videos. She also creates a toxic classroom environment by talking negatively about students to others. Surveys we complete every few months only frustrate her instead of helping her improve. Once, she even yelled at a student for submitting a survey question about correcting their attendance name, even though it wasn't directed at her. After surveys, she's openly mad at students instead of reflecting on her own teaching. This isn't my first negative experience here. My first nail tech teacher acted the same way--disengaged and self-focused--before retiring. She even put me on academic probation and failed me without telling me, despite proof I was caught up. My second teacher, however, was amazing--so I know the program can work when the right instructors are in place. Now, with Ms. Stevenson, it feels like the same problems all over again. I've heard from others that she's been receiving poor reviews for years, which makes me wonder why she's still here. Students deserve a teacher who actually teaches and respects them. I don't expect perfection, but I do expect professionalism, support, and mutual respect. Instead, this program leaves students frustrated, unsupported, and constantly second-guessing their own progress. That should be a serious concern for anyone considering enrolling.
