Play with the light…read more Solid Light by Anthony McCall was such a fun experience. In a collaboration with the Tate Museum, the Oklahoma Contemporary Art Center has a very unique display. McCall's immersive light sculptures invite you to interact with but not touch the light. So much fun to walk through sculptural beams made of mist and projected light. This sensory experience was truly amazing. It was also a fun challenge to try to capture the images. The 2-D images on film barely scratch the surface of what you will enjoy in the Contemporary Arts Center. Ask questions to learn more. It was so interesting to hear about the installation. The center is just two floors of art. The exhibits change regularly. Parking and entry to the museum are both free. Enjoy the Solid Light.

I don't have enough adjectives for it! Lots of interactive pieces. The first floor was full of student art (from the adjacent studio I believe) and the third floor held a evocative exhibit, Jakian Parks: The Black Land. I wish I had had enough time to explore the grounds and the outside art. The best thing about OCAC is that it is free. (Please feel free to support this place and a $5 donation is encouraged.) I'm anxious to see what exhibits are on view the next time I'm in OKC.

First of all, I can say that all the trouble everyone went to to move the school to Midtown was well worth them effort. Students and professors will benefit from all that's happening down here, and the community at large will benefit from the up-and-coming professionals having a vested interest in continued improvement in the area, not to mention the dollars they'll all spend in the area when they're not in class. As a venue for special events, the exterior is impressive, the interior stately and it is centrally-located for folks. I can see hosting many different types of events here. It would be a perfect venue for something like a wine or cocktail tasting event or class. It's probably not a good fit for a 400 person, open bar extravaganza. It's probably also a little too business-y for a wedding. I mean, its a school, and it's also home to lots of employees who make the school work (think, office trappings), so you probably could not make it formal enough for a wedding. But for a fundraiser, or book-signing or a lecture, I think it is perfect. They do reserve the right to have complete say over who is able to use it, and for what purpose, but I think that's pretty standard practice for a university. The large patio at the front of the building is actually a very cool space and would make for an awesome event. I'd love to host something out there sometime, providing I could use the interior space as a back-up, since I've learned that you absolutely always have to have a back-up in the event of weather.

It probably took me 10 minutes of walking around to find the studio. Only after stopping a girl that was walking back to her car and asking, was I able to find it. The storefront is all window. Which is why I don't understand why they don't take artistic liberties and paint the windows (with something non-permanent) so passers-by can easily tell what the building's business is. After ordering a glass of wine, (at least they have some $5 glasses) and sitting near the front, I noticed that the painting at the front of the room was not the painting that I thought I would be doing. I brought my concern to the artist , and she informed me, after checking the calendar, that the painting I went for was actually on Tuesday. My bad. BUT! Chloe was awesome and got me some green and let me go at it making the painting I wanted, rather than following the class. Halfway through she found a copy of the painting and brought it over so I could look at it rather than at my dying phone (which was grainy because of the size of the picture anyways). In the end I was pretty happy with the painting though it wasn't exactly like the example - it's not supposed to be, right? The staff was a lot nicer this time around, but considering my overall experience and the price, I'm sticking with my 2*s

I'm so glad I took the time to do it, and Red Cross was definitely the right choice for me. I recruited my sister and sister-in-law to go with me, since they had both mentioned they'd be interested. We took Adult and Pediatric CPR and First Aid. It was $110, and it took about 4 hours online, which you had to complete before going to the two hour evening class. I grumbled about how long the online portion took, but in the end, I realized I learned a lot from those simulations and I felt very prepared for the classroom portion. Our teacher, Vertina, was just the right mix of helpful and funny, and she really knew her stuff. This is one of those things you hope you'll never need to use, but it still provides a lot of peace of mind. If you do it, I definitely recommend doing it with friends.

Get your CPR certification on!…read more I'm required to have this certification for work, but who could hurt from knowing basic first aid and lifesaving skills? This is my 10th or so time being certified over the years (certifications last 2 years) and I never get tired of it. It's a lot like riding a bicycle, you may not do it all the time but when you never really forget. All the instructors I have ever met have been very knowledgeable and informative and kept the training easy, casual and comfortable. Hopefully you'll never need to use what you learn here, but in the event that you do, you can make a huge difference in the life of others.
