    Automobile Alley

I've been enjoying the classes here! I started going right when they moved to the Automobile Alley…read morelocation which was a bit confusing at first, but it's fine now. Parking lot and the easiest entrance are both in the back of the building. They offer mostly hot yoga which was something I had been hesitant about in the past, but I really like the workout and the teachers I've had. They have a pretty regular schedule, so like Devin and Tailyn are some of my favorites, and you can really build a practice with a few teachers who know you if you go regularly. I also really like Rylie's barre classes. I went to BYB in Norman in 2019 and didn't super love the instructors and classes, but I really like the instructors here in OKC who are really lovely, caring, and motivating which makes all the difference with something as vulnerable as hot yoga, especially as someone who's never been really dedicated to her practice before. I will say that the studio isn't perfect, but they're all minor complaints. I know they just moved into it, but there's a slightly lifted plank in the floor that would be horrible to step on or have your mat on. Also, the heat lamps are really low, so it's killer if you end up underneath one (a great sweaty workout though if that's what you want). Finally, for the most part, the studio is private, but the door is clear glass, so I have seen people looking in a few times which is a little awkward. It's in a hallway, so people are passing by, and looking up to see someone looking at the class while you're doing downward facing dog isn't the best haha. I will say that I've never been in an overfull class in the two or three months I've been attending. I'm not sure what the cap is, but I've also always been able to book the classes I want, even 30 minutes before they start. I'm on the unlimited classes student deal for $100 a month, and it's a great motivation to put classes in my calendar and actually go. It's also helpful that it's not too far from my apartment, unlike a lot of the other exercise studios in the metro :) Thank you!

Balance. Yoga. Barre. Is simply and effective! They offer classes all the above and more. I truly…read morelove that they offer classes in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Especially love their weekend selection as I often am unable to make midday workouts. They provide mats, balance balls, weights, bands, and really anything you need to enjoy the class. I attend the 8th street market location which offers a restroom but no water fountain. They offer changing rooms inside the studio. The staff is always friendly and they are experts at what they do. If your considering, they have free first classes.

It's the right pace for us preggos, and the right atmosphere, to get us ready to be mommies. Yoga Nest is one of the outposts of Karen Prior's successful "Momastae" prenatal yoga methodology, and Kat is an easygoing, relaxed instructor. Even though I did not practice with any regularity before, there hasn't been any move or pose I wasn't able to do by observing Kat. Because the class is small - it maxes out at eight people - you are close enough to the teacher to see exactly what she is doing. She also talks just the exact right amount - not too much, but enough that you feel you know what's going on. The space itself is nothing to write home about. It's not beautiful or perfect, but then, neither am I. I'll be sad when I can't still take class from Kat, as at least for now she only teaches pre-natal. I think my favorite thing though is something Kat says during relaxation. She has us visualize welcoming our babies into the world, and then she tells us to imagine telling the baby that while we look forward to their arrival, we look forward to welcoming him or her "whenever and however" he or she arrives. I love that, because I think there is such a tendency to get caught up in a "birth plan" when there is really so little you can control when it comes right down to it, especially if things get scary at all. So I love that every week leading up to the birth of my baby, I'm getting this little reminder that I can only do as much as I can do, but part of it is up to the baby or the universe or whomever to do the rest. I'm thankful to Kat and Karen for this important, fun, relaxing part of my pregnancy. It is something I will always remember.
