We ended dropping a lot of money here but the sashimi was as fresh as it gets and the sake was flowing, so there you go. It only gets 4 stars from me because I'm still convinced the best of the best is Kikuchi and nothing else can measure up around here. However, if you're in northwest London my bet is you could do a lot worse.

Situated in Willesden Green I didn't know what to expect. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. Sushi Say is worth a visit if traditional-quality-no-frills Japanese food is what you're after! With the trend of fusion food, there are very few quality traditional Japanese restaurants in London. That being said, Sushi Say is by far one of the most authentic Japanese places I've been too. Everything is fresh and the emphasis is on simplicity and quality. You can really appreciate the quality of the produce and ingredients. The delicately prepared Toro and Yellowtail just melts in your mouth. The sashimi and rolls are generously portioned and beautifully cut; everything is balanced and tastes as it should. Service is friendly and attentive. I'll definitely be back!

We came on a Monday night and were the only diners - a tad worrying but it's new and a Monday. A few more people did come in after us. Service was attentive and quick. The menu is extensive and a little overwhelming as there's a lot of stuff that sounds good. The actual decor of the place is pretty simple but perfectly pleasant. You can also eat at the bar if you want to watch the sushi being prepared. We had tuna sushi roll with jalapenos which I really enjoyed. They were generous with the amount of fish too. For main I had salmon teriyaki which again was a huge portion slathered in teriyaki sauce. I did enjoy this but it was a tad salty for my liking. It doesn't get 5 stars because it seems a little pricey for sushi - especially in Willesden - but I did enjoy it and would go back to try some of other sushi dishes.

They need to add it to the menu! It was all so good we took another round of everything home to eat for lunch the next day. The prices are reasonable. It's spacious. Service is wonderful. And most importantly the food is just great!!! I mean wholesome - great portions and Japanese food as you would want it. I have probably taken everyone I know here now, and the staff all recognise me - I want to give a big shout out to the Chinese lady in the pink kimono and black framed glasses who has the biggest smile - and the Chinese maths student from Bristol. Those two are great and always recognise me when I come in. I appreciate the reception. The other staff are awesome too. So for anyone new to Eat, they present you with a massive menu - I mean it could be the size of someone's thesis, so you have to carefully go through the menu and pick what you like. The bento boxes are great choices - great value for good food, I tend to get the £9 chicken Teri and salmon bento. But then there is so much more- the gyoza is awesome, the agadashi tofu - delish and my all time favourite (for all those aubergine lovers a must have) the nasu dengaku. Those are merely scratching the surface of the menu. The black cod is also to die for. There is so much more - it's just endless joy. Also note: This is Eat Tokyo that does Shabu Shabu. Yelp you need to remove Shabu Shabu from the title because it's just another Eat Tokyo in London like the rest of them. The only difference is that they do Shabu Shabu too.

We ordered a bunch of a la carte dishes (the pumpkin croquettes were delicious) along with the amazing value sashimi boat. Although the sashimi was fresh the cuts were a bit too thick and obviously weren't from grade A fish (whatever that means). Still, amazing value, especially for those with expandable stomachs.

Most of the fish would have been been better off being used as chum on a deep sea charter fishing boat. Very low quality fish. We ordered the sashimi boat to get a good sampling of their sushi abilities. Absolute failure. Tuna was in-edible. Could nit even chew it up it was so tough and it was really smelly. Gross!! I almost barfed at the table, and we eat ALOT of sushi. I am not exaggerating, i was dry heaving. Maybe my standards are too high i don't know. One of the guys in our party was pulling BIG bones out of his fish pieces! Yummy!!! Wth!?! A non sushi person we brought ordered the chicken katsu, simple enough. They brought a small mountain of chicken! Yay! Except that it was half raw and black inside...that was when i decided to talk to a manager who insisted everything was fine! Haha fine to who? I showed her our napkins, FILLED with fish we had to spit out...and bones! And raw/black chicken:) I gladly paid for everything, and now we get to share our wonderful experience with the world. Either way i was sharing...the money i don't care about...thanks for ruining our evening...that's what i care about. Yellowtail rolls were good. We ordered alot of food, and the rolls were ok. But the sashimi omg...so bad. Buyer beware. I would 100% not recommend this place unless u want to roll the dice...

The waiting time was in fact not bad at all and soon we were seated. We ordered a plum wine each and we were all surprised to receive such a generously filled glass of this sweet liquor. We perused through the extensive menu and eventually all three of us settled for an order of Oyakodon (accompanied by a miso soup), which turned out to be very generous and filling portions. On the side we had ordered Edamame Beans, Age-Tofu, and a portion of what looked like a honey-glazed aubergine (the latter was especially delicious). We had also ordered two rolls, but they somehow didn't arrive and so we cancelled the order as we were stuffed anyway. The best of it all was the bill at the end: £35 for the three of us!!! Wow...this is what I call a bargain and it then totally made sense that people were queueing up like crazy: it's definitely a good value for money here!
