I used to work in catering and have cooked many steaks in my time, SA Gourmet Meats used to one of my most closely guarded secrets! I have bought meany a tonn from them over the years and have never been dissapointed. When you walk into their show room, the angels begin to sing, and a sense of euphoria comes over you as the vast selection presents itself. All of the usual suspects are there in more forms than you can imagine. Don't see what you want? RUBBISH! But if it isn't there it will be obtained! I always leave the store with more than I ordered or planned to buy, and I never have buyers remorse (except for the meat sweats from time to time)! Oh.....the staff are brilliant by the way! They really know there meat, so if you need some help don't be afraid to ask. If your lucky a certain older figure will be behind the counter who used to work as a Chef, have a chat, you wont regret it!

Price - Hands down, their prices are the best in the district. I even use these guys to cater for functions at the army barracks where we feed around 50 hungry soldiers that like meat, lots of MEAT! If you are not using SA Gourmet Meats as your butcher, then you are paying too much for lower quality meat.

I didn't take any pictures, as I want to take some when it's complete. It is still half under construction. What I noticed with these changes is that they have also updated their produce. There is a lot more high end condiments, cheeses, veggies & meats. So, it's a little more like the other Foodlands now. This is a relief for me as it is not far from home and I used to drive past this Foodland to get to the Norwood one. I think that the locals will be pleased with the changes! Onya Magill Foodland!

They always have a couple of customers despite being quite small. I think their customers are very much the locals. The quality of the fruit and veg here is good. Actually, slightly better than Foodland next door. So, that might explain the customers. I have purchased fruit here and it's been fresh and tasty. The staff here are always very friendly. But, I sometimes wonder whether they have more people rostered on than what they need? It's never that busy that they need three people working. It's a very small store. My only concern about this store is the variety. I think that if you are going to be a great Fruit & Veg store you should stock items that are a little more ethnic and unusual. Especially if your neighbour is a supermarket that does not stock unusual veggies. Last time I visited here I was on the search for Thai Basil, which I actually don't think that is so unusual. Foodland didn't stock it, so I naturally thought the Fruit & Veg store next door would sell it. But, no they didn't. In fact, the herb selection was quite small. Oh well.. maybe some food for thought for the owner. Despite the lack of variety, this is still a good fruit and veg store in Magill.
