I'm visiting my daughter in Ojai and we went to the Playhouse a few weeks ago to see Marty supreme and I love this place so I checked out there screenings and I saw that song sung blue was playing which I haven't seen yet and I wanted to see. I couldn't believe my luck when I saw that it was a free screening so I registered and got myself a ticket. It was for a Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM and I was expecting a full house, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was only maybe half full. I got my small popcorn for seven dollars and a glass of water and happily sat in my seat and watched this wonderful movie in this special theater. It's so nice to be able to come to a locally owned and operated theater that is not a chain theater. They have the best snack bar I've ever seen in my life, especially for people that like old school candies and fresh organic popcorn. The air was heavy as in no air flow quality at all, so if the audience was warm can you imagine what the girls dancing their hearts out must've felt like. I've said this previously about older theaters ...if you want flashy go to Los Angeles, Ojai at heart is a small town that wishes to preserve the history and I for one commend them for that, which is rare because Ojai & I rarely agree on anything. Parking was a nightmare though, I ended up parking 3 blocks away, the show was from 7-10 and by the time I left there was little to know lighting on the sidewalks to make my way back. Thanks to my trusted iPhone flashlight I made it to my car. Most of all I was just so happy to see my Baby cousin perform, it was a fun night.

They over sold the venue so they were putting up chairs in the front row, as the muscians were playing?? Just so "special" people who came late didn't have to stand. Ummm someone is playing on the stage? Ojai people live in a world of high drama. Snack truck was out front, pleanty of restrooms. Just get there early for good seats (and parking) and please don't sit in the specially marked seats.

The whole lobby was loud and happening on the Saturday night of our stay, but when we walked into Snug Bar after dinner on the Sunday, we were the only customers. The bartender was a friendly woman, named Lauren I think, who we learned was a cousin of the nice server who waited on us at dinner. She made our cocktails and we took them into the lobby, where we claimed two handsome chairs on either side of a handsome table. The drinks were excellent. I got the Summer Blanco Negroni, a clear negroni with La Tierre de Acre Cenizo mezcal, Luxardo bitter bianco, and Spanish blanco vermouth. My husband had the Wild Condor Old Fashioned with Wild Turkey bourbon, Amaro Picon, vanilla, and house bitters. The Snug Bar experience was so snug that I fell fully asleep in one of those handsome chairs. The bar was good enough that I might have wanted another round, but I guess that negroni was all the nightcap I needed. I very much enjoyed this bar and Hotel El Roblar in general. They did a good job, but it was kind of an odd setup. There was no table service except for food delivery. I didn't eat anything so I can't comment on the food. It was a limited menu of typical bar food. One person took the order. One person made the drinks and another made sure you signed your card if using one. You could only pay for each order. No leaving your card and running a tab. The music was fabulous and the people were all very friendly.

I was toying with the idea of doing a private dance class, and she was eager to help, but unfortunately the timing wasn't quite right. In the end, we decided to attend the Beginners Bollywood Dance class together. I could not believe it was only $5. If I lived in Ojai, I'd be there every week, and telling all my friends about it! The class was energetic, approachable, fun, and a great work out. We had SO MUCH FUN. And Isha was an incredible instructor. She helped us take some cute pictures before the class began, and allowed our group to do the choreography together just us so we could record it. I cannot recommend Dance Ojai highly enough!

We saw his art at the Ojai Valley of History and Art & the OVA arts store too. We spoke with his sister Laurie Byrne & learned about her art displayed, technique & inspirations.
