That said, having just made the first of many credit card payments for work I never would have had done given the full scope of what my vehicle needed, I feel compelled to prevent this from happening to anyone else. While the actual work done here seems fairly competent, the diagnostic process seems about as accurate as playing darts blindfolded. I brought my car in because it was creaking misfiring, and the check engine light was on. I told them that I believed my engine mounts were worn out and that I also needed a diagnoses for the misfiring. They told me that the cause for the misfiring was likely that my spark plugs and ignition coils were worn out, because that usually happens around 100k miles and my vehicle was past that. I agreed to have them replaced along with new engine mounts, to the tune of $2,600. I was told that after this my vehicle would be like a totally different car. The very next day, my car misfired again and the check engine light came back on. When I brought it back, they informed me that they don't have any way of knowing this fo sure, but I probably actually had a blown head gasket. I brought my car to a different mechanic shop who did a full and complete diagnostic from bumper to bumper and took photos of everything wrong with the car- from a blown head gasket to a leaking transmission to almost completely worn wheel bushings and a host of other problems totaling over $8,200 in addition to the $2,600 I had already paid at Red Rock Auto. Had I known this in the first place, I never would have paid $2,600 on a doomed old van that needed almost $11,000 in work done. I had to buy a new van and that $2,600 would have really helped with the down payment. I'm tempted to say that I feel duped, but I don't think there was any malice or fraud going on- just general laziness or incompetence in the diagnostic process that very negatively affected me.

I ended up selling that car for scrap and eventually buying a new car. I brought the new car in for a pre-purchase inspection and WOW, Jessy and his team really showed their true colors on how thorough they are! They checked absolutely everything. They even checked the cabin air filter because he told me that a rodent had built a nest in it. They found things that other shops had missed. Is there such a thing as being too thorough? Jessy might be! But I'd rather have my auto shop be extremely thorough and triple check everything rather than be sloppy and miss things. Their attention to detail and commitment to quality is obvious, right down to how they require appointments for their shop. They want to make sure that every single car gets the attention it needs. I can't recommend Mike Palmer enough and even though I don't live in the neighborhood anymore, I will make the trek to come back here for my auto repairs and recommend them to all my friends. The staff were really welcoming, walked me through my options in a way that actually made sense, and they worked fast. The cost wasn't too bad and I'm glad I ended up here. The only downside was they couldn't actually change my oil because my regular shop had done something to the oil plug and Take 5 would've risked damaging it if they tried. They were honest about it, showed me what they were talking about, and didn't push anything unnecessary. I had them do everything else, then went back to my usual place for the actual oil change. I went on Yelp and Best Buds Mobile service popped up with 5 star reviews so I called. The gentleman that answered was genuine as explained that we thought it was the alternator. He gave me a quote that was within what I was willing to pay. I asked him if he had a number to a tow place so I can get it towed to them. He said "its ok we come to you". I was surprised but then "duh" it says "mobile" in their name. He also told me it would probably be about and hour and a half for them to repair. WHAT! It really did seem too good to be true. The shop we had previously called quoted us double what these guys quoted. They literally showed up within 30 min they arrived at that Maverick parking lot and probably less than the time frame he told me it would take them to fix it we were on our way back to Provo and now we are home and our car is running perfectly! These guys are a gem! I Googled the cost to replace the alternator and they were within the range. So Im going to say they are honest. I wish they were in in Vegas. But now we know if there are any car repair needs for us when in Utah or our family we will be reffering Best Buds Mobile Services. Kasyn was on time to our appointment and was very knowledgeable with Toyotas/Lexuses so he got right to work!! He was quick, efficient, and way under budget. All together this project should have run me at least 1,000 anywhere else, but Kasyn only charged me $250 plus I purchased the parts for $160 so from being quoted $3,000 to $1,500 to only spending $410 with Kasyn, you can imagine how happy I was.
