I live really close to this thrift store and have to say that it is one of the better thrift stores around. Prices have gotten almost ridiculous at all of the thrift stores here in Columbus, but it's definitely worth finding out if they have a discount day. I say this bc this thrift store will have a 50-75% Wednesday a couple times a month. You jUst have to call abd see which Wednesday it is on. I've went over on these days and walked out with 2 or even 3 biggo trash bags of clothes, blankets and whatever else that I can find. But, Yes it is a large store so be ready to engage through and spend some time there. Also, I have seen this posted already a few times but never hurts to remind anyone going in for clothes for themselves that They DO NOT have a fitting room! In thenstore for 5-7 mins when my sandle tore so I left with ONLY MY KEYS IN HAND AND ONLY IN THE FRONT OF STORE LOOKING AROUND. So I went to store nearby to buy new shoes (brand new tennis shoes that they don't even sale with the sticker on the bottom with shoe store and price mind you I bought on a whim. $80 I wasn't planning on spending.) I went back to finish looking around to try to find a top and the manager comes and asked "Was I in there earlier with sandals on?" I said "Yes why?" He said his staff informed him I was just in there. We then notice a young white girl about 18-20, skinny, short pulled back ponytail with bun near us pretending to be working so I go to the next rack to test her she comes to that same rack. I toldmy daughter let's go since they think we're stealing. The girl runs and tells that to manger. I call to complain and get hung up on by a man named Chritopher while I'm trying to explain why I didn't find that coo and ask the crime in changing my shoes and and coming back. How do you know I didn't leave my wallet at home and had to come back and changed my shoes in the process? I didn't appreciate being treated like a theif and I will be posting everywhere. read more

All together the business, service, job, employment there sucks. I was employed for two years and out of the two years i was there I got one raise, and it was only for a couple cents. But they treat people like garbage, they purposefully overprice an item if they think you're annoying or being rude and all the managers there steal. Theres this one manager Julie, she steals all the time. They had a manager Nicki and she was the queen of stealing, she got first hand looks at what came in and she would walk out with bags of stuff and they would let her. If your job is cashier, best believe youll be the janitor, stocker and everything you can think of. It's a terrible company, and it is very dirty. Rats, bed bugs, some of the food would have holes in it and they would just put tape over it or the food would be expired and they would still put it on the shelves. read more

I went in this morning with my daughter. She needed to use the restroom. So while waiting for her, I see something black run across the hallway from the work area in the back. It was a small rat. When my daughter came out, I did not want to alarm her. I just said I couldn't find anything. When we got to the middle of the store, I told her what I saw. We got out of there so quickly. Visited this past Sunday and today. 95 degrees outside and felt hotter than that inside the store. Redictulous to have employees working in that heat with no fans. Even more Redictulous to stay open and have customers wiping their sweat on the clothes for sale. The prices that are charged in that store would surely cover an a/c repair. read more

Their prices have become $15-$20 for shoes and purses that are often times scuffed and discolored. These are DONATED goods. Thrift stores are here to help the community and what you're doing is making insane profits on free items. I would have bought 10 things at $2 before I'd buy one item at $20. Not to mention I had to wait well over 15 minutes in line just to cash out. Become a thrift store again and I'll be back! read more

UPDATE! This weekend I made my first visit back to Ohio Thrift after a long hiatus, and I am thrilled to say that is better than ever. They've apparently undergone new management in recent months, and the store is noticeably cleaner and much more organized. Women's shirts are now sorted by color and style (cardigan, turtleneck, blouse, etc.), whereas before it was pretty much a free for all. I don't know what changed about the source of their goods, but let's just say they have done some serious upgrading. I bought a flawless cashmere Banana Republic scarf for $5, several mint-condition brand name sweaters for $3 or less each, and an adorable Chinese Laundry purse for $8 (somebody was obviously clueless about that one). They still have all the same eclectic goodies as always (purple mink coat, ninja turtle scrubs, vast assortment of idiotic t-shirts), but ooooh, have they upgraded! =) read more

I'd really love to know who changed Ohio Thrift's store model. They used to have something great and comparable to VOA, but in the past couple years all of the Ohio Thrift stores have gouged prices, and started incorporating new furniture and cheap dollar store quality goods. The Southside store is a great example of change--They had a nice showcase area off to the side like many thrift stores do, but they have removed that, and now have some odd shelves to place the information. They have aisles towards the front of 'Better' items. They have an aisle of 'Better' shoes, but the promiscuous lady shoes I saw were actually in pretty poor condition unless one is specifically looking for a more broken in type of variety. When I look at most of the price tags I have to ask myself is this truly a thrift store, or are they wanting to push hard into consignment, but not good quality consignment--the consignment of crappy goods. I miss the old days before their model changed. You could find excellent deals here. Thrift stores are there to help the community, not become some used department store. If folks wanted a department store experience they'd gladly apply for the high interest credit card and do their bidding. Most folks who need the thrift stores really need the financial incentives they provide, whether it's an extra dollar off on a blouse, or extra 50 cents on a book. I have to agree with everyone that this place is the absolute HEAT. I like going thrift'n, and this place is Mecca. Absolutely huge, though. I went on an empty stomach and with a limited time-budget and was disappointed. Not by the store or the quality and extent of their collection but with myself for not being adequately prepared to handle it. It can be a little overwhelming. Before our time together had to come to an end I was able to grab a few things (snap-button button down shirt, quarter zip stand-up collar sweater, etc...) but I was barely able to peruse 1/4 of the inventory. Been a while since I visited this thrift store and I'm glad I did. While the items were priced kind of high, the selection was very good and I found a lot of things I had been looking for for a while. That said, two of the items were sold broken and I didn't realize it until I got home. It's a shame but I think maybe one of the items I can fix. Still, a fun thrift store with a lot of selection. And tomorrow is half price clothes day... not sure I want to deal with what is sure to be a big crowd ‍ read more

Ohio Thrift is no longer worth the effort or visit. It no longer has half price days (many times even at half price, way overpriced). Guess the bigwigs think their stores are really special, and they are not! I don't mind that they are getting their stuff through donation (American Kidney Assoc.), but I do mind the way they often overprice items. So not half price (or other lower priced colored tags!), no longer a customer. Also I used to spend lots of money($100,s on half price day) at the OT,s as I was in the resale business, but no longer. I wish Ohio Thrift stores would have dressing rooms. I can't buy anything for myself without trying it on, and so I rarely buy clothes at Ohio Thrifts. I do frequent this one a lot because of how close I am, but it's not one of my favorites. I'd much rather travel up high street and visit the VOA. Plus, you may not be aware that Ohio Thrift isn't really a charity. You may think that your purchase is helping the Kidney Foundation, but really it's not. Mike G. suggested this place when I was reviewing some other thrift stores, so I dropped by to check it out on my quest to bolster my work wardrobe. However, I should have read Susan H's review because there are no fitting rooms. And as someone who doesn't really fit the clothing industries' standard sizes, I have to try on clothes for fit. There were a good amount of name brand clothes in the women's departments -- I saw a lot of Hollister, AE, Aeropostale, and so on, but without the option to try things on, I won't be returning to this particular thrift store. read more

This is one of my favorite thrift stores. Now thrifting isn't what it used to be (blame tv and the internets for that) but this store is still pretty great for clothing (but no changing rooms so dress appropriately) and good for junking- kitchen stuff, small appliances, jewelry, etc. Also cheapo new stuff, I bought a pair of knock off Crocs to wear in the garden there yesterday. Worth checking out for sure. read more

This is one of my favorite thrift stores. I love all of the Ohio Thrifts, and this one is no different. They always have a big selection of new Anchor-Hocking glassware for god prices. The clothes are organized by size, and then by color, which is such a good system. If I come in looking for somehting in particular, I can usually find it! read more

An occasional surprise can be found lurking here. It's certainly a neater location to visit, with it's upstairs and down-stairs shopping. I mostly stop in the check out the records, and there hasn't been anything here lately but really bad old easy listening and gospel stuff. When times are tough the quality of the finds diminishes, but it's worth checking in every month or so just to see what comes in. read more

BEDBUGS!!! I was looking at stuffed animals and noticed some black dirt on the collar of a cute monkey. I pulled back the creases a bit to see if the dirt brushed off and saw moving sesame seeds - bedbugs! In shock I dropped the animal. I carefully picked it up by the tag and brought it to an employee. He looked at me dumbfounded and went "what should I do?" I explained he needed to put the stuffed monkey in a sealed bag. I gave him the animal and I left the store. FIRST - the stuffed animals are piled on a shelf up against each other. Those bed bugs could be all over all of the plushies. They could have come from another plush or decorative pillow. no one seemed to check. SECOND - The employee didn't know what to do. They have received no training on how to handle an item that may come to them with bed bugs. This concerns me most of all. A customer had to tell the employee how to prevent the bugs from spreading. I am a frequent thrift shopper, but will not be going back to any Ohio Thrift locations anytime soon. The stuffed monkey was not inspected, was not sanitized and was put on the shelf for sale. The employee didn't realize how to secure an infested item, putting other items at risk. If you go to this store, please check what you might buy for bedbugs. As of yesterday, they had them in store. read more

You guys put your stores in low income areas and you have prices that are stupid high and try to say the prices get marked some where else. I have seen color tags changed on items and even seen prices lowered because it was priced so high the first time. Save gas shop eBay. read more
