i've been a resident of for 52 years. I recently relocated from here from visiting Maine for a couple of years and I need to get my Ohio license plate. I'm 74 PTSD combat veteran my own business for 40 years successfully Akron professional photographer. I know how to run a business. So far now for three weeks I've been back-and-forth VA where I'm greeted by a whole flock of gray old ladies that know nothing... Every time I've gone back, they give me a new form or a new paper. I've got to have. They're never articulate enough to sit down and go. Here's what you need, sir ABCD no they just give me a paper then the next time I oh well you gotta have another paper so go down and do this paper go across the street and get your VIN down here and get but they never tell me upfront. My patience is very thin. I refused to go here again. Thank God, I found the Stow Ohio BMV, 15 minutes. It took me to get everything clarified. read more

I've been here 3 times in the last month, and I've been to the Streetsboro BMV twice in that time frame. Here's why. We moved back to Ohio from Florida. Went and got the e-check on the car done at Van's, then headed to Ravenna on a Saturday morning for the Vin check/title/registration. We waited with a number so we could get someone to read the VIN, then they sent us across the street for the Title transfer (Florida to Ohio), then we went back and got right up to the counter with the paperwork. Excellent! I think we were there a total of an hour, maybe 70 minutes. The second time, I decided to be even smarter. I went and got the e-check done on the truck, then I took it to the Streetsboro BMV to do the VIN check, since it's minutes from me. Done and done. Headed down to the BMV on Saturday morning with the stuff for our Driver's Licenses and to register the truck. We go to the title agency to transfer, and guess what? The VIN is wrong. There's a 7 where there should be a Z. OMG. So we went back over to the BMV, took our eyes tests and waited for our driver's licenses. Another seventy-five minutes of our time. Third time around. I go back to Streetsboro - get the VIN redone. DOUBLE CHECKED IT. Went home. TRIPLE CHECKED IT. Went the next Saturday back down to Ravenna. Title goes through. Whew. Back over to the BMV to wait. Literally the longest wait time I've had at a BMV since, well, Florida when we had to sit there for 4 hours. We were probably waiting a good 90 minutes plus just to get someone to call our number. It was a nut house. But finally, we have 2 licenses and 2 cars retitled and reregistered in Ohio. Now, the adult son is moving back from NJ and I guess we'll be going down there all over again for him. Double check everything! And be prepared for a wait. On a positive note--if you need a vision test to renew your license, they actually do these onsite here! This may seem like an obvious service, but apparently not all BMVs in the area offer the vision test. I initially went to renew my license at the new Kent BMV in the shopping plaza west of town (on Cascades Blvd, near a Walmart and an Applebees), and they said that before they could renew the license, I had to head to Ravenna to get the vision test (12 miles away!). Total inefficiency! The staff at this branch were kind and efficient, and there was unbelievably no wait for service (Noon on a weekday). read more

It's the BMV. Come on. What do you expect? This one is clean and neat and moves much faster now that they have a number ticket to pull. They actually keep up with the numbers. Plenty of chairs to sit in, but the kids corner seems to have gone bye bye. I have always gotten friendly service, if not decent in time, but I also come 1st thing in the morning. I highly suggest coming 1st thing in the morning. read more

I had been avoiding the Ravenna BMV for some time because of slow unfriendly service in the past. But I found myself there again yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by the experience! I was expecting a long wait due to the Covid 19 thing, but my wait was short. Then, once inside, I found every staff member I dealt with to be upbeat and friendly and the clerk helped me downright cheerfully. This staff can be proud of the experience they provided. No need to drive elsewhere out of my way anymore- this is my BMV from now on! read more

What do you expect here? Worst service had from the same poker face for two times in two days. I just moved to Ravenna from Lorain county. I came yesterday for renewing my drivers license. I pulled my number and waited for a period of time. And finally it's my turn. I saw the face over the counter was very unhappy. So I assumed she must be tired or something bad happened. When I said "hi how are you today" with my big smile, there was no response. Well, I did not expect her to say "what can I do for you" which she indeed remained her that face and silent. I have to continue the talk. Then she said she needs my proof of address which I did not bring. I asked what else do I need to bring, she answered "EVERYTHING!" Yea, I asked three times and she answered with the same answer. Come on, I am not an idiot. Did she mean my diploma? birth certificate? What's everything of me? Whatever. As I came back today with my proof of address and other documents, I waited, and it's her again! Again the same sad and angry face, same silence for greeting. Well, I don't know what else to say but I'm sure there wasn't anything happened. It's just her style of service. I have never seen a service like this with people over the counter. What's worse, I was trying to follow the instruction on the receipt to complete the survey, however the number and the website are all false information. I have never expected to see place like this in Ravenna. Just feel so disappointed. read more
