Sushi B ranks as the worst value meal I've ever had in my life. Note, I didn't write "worst meal."…read moreThe quality of the nigiri was actually good (though still in the bottom third of other omakase meals we have had). The quality of the non-nigiri items was below average at best and poor at worst--you know omakase is not going well when the feeling that you would never in a million years want to eat the course again keeps repeating itself. What made the meal the lowest value was the overall below average quality combined with an exorbitant price tag (320 EUROS pp) better reserved for the Alineas and Joel Robuchons of the world. The experience at Sushi B was not remotely worth the price (unlike those two restaurants). Unfortunately, from a pure quality perspective, Sushi B does not deserve the one Michelin star it has. I've had plenty of non Michelin-starred omakase places that are better. From the amuse-bouche (which did nothing to please the palate) to several of the opening courses, I kept wondering whether the Michelin star was a mistake. And then I wondered whether the chef was just off his game that day. And then when I got the bill, I thought they mistakenly quadrupled the price. Hard no from me. Save your money. Omakase is a much higher quality and less egregiously expensive experience elsewhere.

A quick search on the Michelin list and Fuji Yaki came up as a one dollar sign option with a Michelin plate rating. We arrived around 6pm for dinner on a weekday which is incredibly early by French standards and we were seated immediately without a reservation. By the time we left around 7:30p the restaurant was packed full with a line waiting to be seated. Since we had spent the whole day walking around Versailles we decided to ball out a little bit and order the large boat with 10 pieces of sushi and 18 pieces of maki, and 12 pieces of a roll. The ginormous boat also came with a size of salad, soup, and gyoza for the price of $46 Euros. For such a reasonable price I wasn't expecting the quality of the food to be as good as it was, especially since we were in Paris and sushi is not exactly the food I think of when I think of Paris. On top of that the wine list was reasonably priced and the service was excellent. TLDR: I would 100% come here again, sushi is reasonably priced and delicious

Before my food came out I was brought numerous appetizers that I didn't even order or pay for! A salad, some shrimp, and some sort of roll, all of which were delicious. The flavoring of the noodles was amazing, and the shrimp were extra juicy. After I finished the noodles, they brought me some fruit and a new set of chopsticks and napkins. The fish was amazing as well, tasted super fresh and melted in my mouth. The rice was perfect. Absolutely zero complaints with this place, I highly recommend it.

The menu is pretty vast, and covers your typically range of sashimi, tempura, sushi, bento, yakitori but also has a pretty sweet selection of udon or soba noodle soups, which is exactly what I was craving that rainy, Wednesday afternoon. I ordered an udon soup lunch special which came with a lovely salad sampler, a steaming bowl of udon soup with some shrimp tempura floating above, a nice steamy pot of tea and some fruit for dessert. All that for the very reasonable price of 13,50E. As someone was paying I heard them ask if the house delivered as well and my heart starting pounding and my mind racing with dreams of authentic Japanese delivered straight to my home, but alas, the radius us too small and my home is out of limits. If you live in the 11th, though, you just scored a sweet new Japanese delivery situation.

My boyfriend ordered the Beef Udon, I did not try it. He said that it was alright, nothing special but it was hearty. We shared the potstickers and skewers (cheese wrapped with beef, beef balls, and chicken). The potstickers did not taste frozen, definitely handmade and lightly grilled. The dipping sauce was good. The skewers were decently flavorful. The beef ball was probably the best, there were some herbs and a sweet sauce mixed in with the batter. The cheese wrapped with meat literally tasted like a mozzarella stick wrapped with beef. The chicken had a light terriyaki flavor to it and it was perfectly grilled. I got a Salmon and Tuna Chirashi bowl. The salmon and tuna tasted and looked fresh. I am really picky when it comes to the rice in the Chirashi bowl. The rice was perfectly sweet with just the right amount of vinegar and sesame seeds. The gentleman that took our order was a very sweet older Asian man who spoke French and Mandarin. He was very polite and kind and gave us dessert at the end. After we paid and were heading out, he rushed over and handed me a pair of chopsticks. It was such a nice little gesture, it really made my evening. The customer service here was great and I would definitely come back again.

Why can't I find a sushi place in Paris that just blows my mind?…read moreSome place that has something like torch seared baby scallops heaped on top of a lobster tail roll (had this in Gaithersburg, MD of all places). Or fresh super fatty tuna sushi or sea urchin (uni)? (Favorite has been in Sushi Taro in DC) This place was ok but like almost every other sushi place, very formulaic with a menu that has pictures of everything that is available. When you are stuck with a photo menu, I think this stifles the creativity of the chef and prevents them from thinking outside of the box. Yes, the safe sushi eater will feel well within their comfort zone, but c'mon... dining out is about new experiences that will leave you thinking, "I wonder how they did that?" And even if you are trying to be traditional (which this place is not) you should at least go for a super high quality of fish. Yes, the place has good prices, especially the combo menu for lunch and it is worth trying out. Check out my pics. Everything was A-OK. No complaints.
