I started coming to Ohana Dental for about three years now, and I can honestly say it's been a great experience every time. Dr. Hong has always been incredibly kind and welcoming. He truly makes the office feel like family. I've always enjoyed talking with him, and I really appreciate how honest and straightforward he is about my dental care. When I had my first procedure done, Dr. Hong made the entire process seamless and stress-free. I also really appreciated that he makes crowns in-house, which saved so much time since I didn't have to come back for a separate visit to get a permanent crown. Joy, the office manager, has been amazing as well. She's incredibly helpful and always takes the time to clearly explain insurance benefits and answer any questions. Overall, the team at Ohana Dental is highly professional while still making you feel like part of the family. Dr. Hong came highly recommended from some good friends who are patients of his. I was rather concerned, as I hadn't had seen a dentist in a while. Despite having dental anxiety, I can understand why he named his practice "ohana". I was afraid it was a gimmick, but it's not! Firstly, things went quite promptly on the first visit as Joy verified my insurance over the phone. I was also texted a link to the registration forms that I filled out beforehand, so I just walked in right at my appointment time. Simple! The assistant took x-rays and walked me through exactly what to expect in the appointment: xray, dental exam (for cancer, cavities and gum health), and cleaning. I liked that she kept reminding me that I could take a break when I felt uncomfortable. On the intake form, there's a question about your feelings about visiting the dentist. Dr. Hong asked me about that specifically, and assured me that not just his practice but his overall philosophy is kindness. He wanted to be a partner in healthcare with me, and I didn't feel like a big fat wallet coming in, but a person. This was verified when the visit officially started. On the intake form, other than some minor concerns, I noted a minor aesthetic item (that most dentists have tried to pressure me into) as well a major issue- tooth pain. As to his philosophy on kindness- he just addressed the issue, remedied the pain, and gave me some pointers going forward. Seeing as I was in discomfort, he focused on just that. He didn't try to sell me on the minor aesthetic issues I notated on my form. That's a first from a dentist!! Since he wanted to address the bacteria, he cleaned my mouth himself before the hygienist cleaned it again. I'm glad he gave me extra reassurance. The visit was a pleasant experience. He was encouraging and positive, and both him and the hygienist provided nice chatter. He was quite informative about how to proceed going forward, and even provided tips about how to care for my toddler's teeth. A couple things I liked: -When I mentioned tooth pain over the phone, the receptionist was able to book me in two days. So kind! -Most of the dentists that I've had ask a lot of complicated questions while they're inside of my mouth, and insist on me answering... I've never understood this. He did not, but during the cleaning regaled me with interesting stories. I'll gladly refer this business. My husband has an upcoming appointment, and is (shocker!) excited to meet Dr. Hong as well. read more

Dr. Hong is the best! I first saw him about 10 years ago when he worked at a different location with another dentist. I needed quite a bit of work done which needed multiple appointments. He did all my crowns except one where another dentist worked on me. That was the only crown that was painful and wasn't sitting right which affected my bite. I returned and Dr. Hong adjusted it for me. That just cemented I'd only trust him with my teeth! Not to mention, the work he did is still holding up really well (crowns have to be replaced after too much wear and tear) but the ones he did 10 years ago are still in really good shape. Not only is he an outstanding dentist, he is really a sweet person with incredible bedside manner. He'll remember little details or family events and will ask for an update. Ohana Dental is his practice that he opened up. We travel an hour to Newark to continue seeing him even though they're many closer dentists. Also, Joy is a joy! Love this dental office! I followed the dentist from another location he first started out at. I am glad I did! On my first visit here I had to fill out a questionnaire. One of the questions asked whether I was interested in teeth whitening. I expressed my concerns and what it was about my teeth that I wanted to change. Come to find out, I don't need whitening. I go for my cleaning every 6 months and I always have a great experience! My teeth are well taken care of here. Joy, front desk, she is amazing! She is extremely nice and polite. Ohana means family and thats exactly how you feel when you come here. I had a horrible interaction with another dental clinic and was in need of a new dentist for my son and we are so happy we found Ohana Dental. Even from the initial phone call, we knew they were caring, sweet, and actually cared about their patients. We had an appointment at 9am and got to meet Dr. Chris Hong beforehand. He was so nice and warm which made the visit even easier for our son. We even got to play some video games before his appointment which was a nice touch. Our son is 2 and usually does pretty well at various appointments, but like any parent will tell you, things could turn at any time. Dr. Hong was knowledgable and patient which was really helpful. He explained all the do's and don'ts to keep our son's teeth healthy. They also took our Delta Dental insurance too which was an extra plus! You just have to pay upfront and they take care of all the billing. Easy as pie! read more

Ohana is just different! It's a clean dental office with a happy and positive Dr. Hong, friendly hygienist, and helpful staff. I should be transparent: when Ohana switched their billing practices to no longer accept Delta Dental (my only dental insurance option through my employer), I tried a few other dental offices in Fremont. Nothing compared to Ohana, and I returned! There are no gimmicks here, no extra dental work, just a transparent and good dental practice, and if they don't accept your insurance, they will still handle submitting the claim so you receive reimbursement (based on your plan). read more

Great Dentist, office, and staff. Very friendly and relaxed (Aloha) atmosphere. The quality of care I received in my first visit was Top Notch. Full X Rays, exam, cleaning performed by Dr. Hong, floss and polish and advice on future care including upfront treatment details and costs were all upfront and I was walking out of the office in about an hour. The husband and I both made appointments for an exam and cleaning, and was able to get scheduled within the month. We were both a little nervous about our appointment, as it's been years since we last visited a dentist. Plus, it's just plain hard to find an honest and trusting dentist, but we had a great experience from start to end with Ohana Dental! Dr. Hong and the entire team were super friendly and welcoming. Armando and Wendy were both gentle yet efficient during the x-rays and cleaning. Joy at the front was great, she was organized and responsive. Dr. Hong was personable, he shared stories about himself, as well as spitting out fun facts about your teeth. He definitely makes you feel comfortable and at ease. I had to return to get cavities filled and were able to get them done without anesthesia, which was a first. Most of the dentists I've had in the past would automatically administer local anesthesia, but Dr. Hong suggested trying to fill them in without it and I'm glad he did. I experienced very, very minimal discomfort and even then it was more due to sensitivity to cold and not the actual drilling and filling of the cavities. The fillings turned out great and Dr. Hong spent extra time to ensure the fillings were polished and fit well to my bite. Overall, my husband and I enjoyed our experience with Dr. Hong and the team, and look forward to returning! My elderly mother had a tooth issue and we needed to find a dentist close to our home quickly. I yelped dentists in my area and found Ohana dental. I called a few places to get information and decided on Ohana because the person I spoke to was friendly, answered all my questions and was able to see us very quickly. For her visit we were greeted by Joy who is really nice and welcoming. The location is super easy to get to and it was very clean. She was seen by Dr. Hong who was super friendly, very gentle with my mom, informative and taking his time to explain what the options were. Mom needed to get work on her tooth which was taken care of that same day and we also made arrangements for her to get some impressions for the additional work that was needed. We were able to get the additional work completed at the second appointment within the day of her original appointment. To say that my mom was happy would be an understatement -- she had been dealing with the tooth issue for a couple of weeks and to her relief it was fixed and now can go back to normal. They have a new patient promotion and that helped so much as my mom does not have insurance. Great experience for both my mother and I. Dr. Hong even called later in the evening to check to see if all was good and to call if we needed anything else. I really appreciated the call. Everything about this dental office is 10/10. -It's clean and smells amazing in there! -The staff are super nice and the Dentist is so kid friendly which I appreciate. -They had mario kart for my kids to play while they waited. My kids are gamers, so they were excited to play! -They had tv's on the ceiling for my kids to watch and they also provided headphones and glasses which was nice as well. Dr.Hong and his team are the absolute best. I recently got a cavity filled there and it was the best cavity experience I've had. For one, he uses an additional suction to ensure I don't swallow or inhale any of the metals from my previous cavity. I've had a lot of cavities, and I've never experienced that. Following my filling, my teeth were aligned and so smooth where he did the filling, I can't even tell which tooth it is. He also lets me what he is doing every step of the process. I've also been to Dr.Hong for cleanings and they are very thorough, but efficient! Joy is the receptionist and she is amazing, just amazing staff overall. The office is incredibly clean with air purifiers in every room. I also love the TVs on the ceiling so you can watch while lying down. read more

LOOK NO FURTHER!! Many years ago I had a very bad experience with the dentist that scared me out of going to any for 7 years. WOW. After much research and reading over reviews, I found Ohana Dental and I am happy to announce I found my dentist!! Dr. Hong and his team are attentive, thorough and very caring for their patients. From the moment I had to check in the door I was met with kindness and compassion. I didn't feel judged, shamed or pressured to buy or sign up for unnecessary procedures. I got a thorough examination with xrays and pictures taken, then ended with teeth cleaning. Each and every step of the way, Dr. Hong and his assistant Armando made sure to inform me of each and every procedure, step by step. This made me feel so comfortable and it took the nerves and anxiety away. It was very educational for me. When I asked questions, that I felt could be dumb questions they patiently answered in terms that I could understand and that made me so much more comfortable with the process. I don't have insurance, but they have payment plans, and also take credit cards and cash. This was so helpful to me. The office space is so clean and everything intentionally placed. In the waiting room, couches are comfortable, and theres also games and computer to use while waiting. This spot also has great parking spots. The rooms has a t.v on the wall and also on the ceiling. I had a great experience today at Ohana dental. I was treated like a person not a patient. I was genuinely greeted as soon as I walked in. The staff made me feel heard and understood. I went in today for tooth pain that a pervious dentist told me could not be fixed. I was examined and got an explanation at every step. I have a better understanding and now know my options for care. I have been looking for a long term FAMILY dentist for a while and I believe I just found one. Don't laugh, but as a child, I had silver fronts. My two front teeth had silver caps. Yes, my teeth were that bad! Getting them put in was worse than the teasing I endured at school. My dentist at the time strapped me down to the chair like I was at a psych ward and made me look like a freak. From this experience on, I ALWAYS hated the dentist... and I've been to many. Even as an adult, I'd get teary eyed after an appointment if I had to get any procedure other than a cleaning. Like I said in the beginning, don't laugh! Teary eyed until............. I met Dr. Hong! I have followed him throughout his career for the past 10ish years at several offices and now, he has his own! I was so excited for him when he shared that he was finally making his dreams come true and opening his own practice. Ohana Dental is obviously Hawaiian themed, bright, and high tech! I've never experienced his x-ray technology before. Dr. Hong is very friendly, knowledgeable, upfront, and loves Disneyland. Most of my appointments go fast because we talk about Disneyland, which is a little difficult, since my mouth is open. Joy, his assistant, is literally her name, a joy to be around, very welcoming and sweet. I wasn't quite sure about going to the dentist during COVID-19 times, but I felt very safe being there, with their temperature checks, hand sanitizers, and multiple HEPA air purifiers. ALSO, there are TVs on the ceiling (mind blown!) AND video games, a major plus for the kids (I'm sure if my childhood dentist had this I probably wouldn't have been so scared to go). 100 stars! Changed employers so went looking for a new dentist. I was surprised at the number of positive reviews and my first visit today for X-rays, exam and cleaning did not disappoint. The front desk staff Joy was great at communicating prior to the appointment including checking my deductible and all so there are no surprises. The doctor gave me a tour of the office and everything is brand new including TV on the ceiling so I can stare at something besides a bright light. I am so. damn. happy!!!! Discovering Ohana Dental and Dr. Hong and his assistant Joy, is exactly like seeing family. My family have been wandering around looking for good dental. 3 sisters and we all go to different ones, never finding someone who reminded us of our childhood dentist. Now, we finally have! Upon recommendations from my friends, I went here. Then my sister. Her husband. My other sister. My mom is going to come next! State of the art facility, all the newest tech, calming colors and sounds. Dr. Hong explains everything he is doing and why. Joy has the most infectious laughter and you just can't help but feel happy around her. I had a lot of dental issues stemming from my pregnancy. Dr. Hong and Joy are the best. I had a toothache and they got me in quickly to assess the issue. Dr. Hong did several different tests, took x-rays, and explained everything very clearly. He identified the tooth that was causing the problem and was able to give me a prescription antibiotic as well as referral to a root canal specialist. Just started going to Ohana dental due to my last dentist retiring. Had some fillings replaced and a couple of crowns replaced. I couldn't have a made a better choice. His dentistry work is incredible and efficient. I was eating in just a few hours with no irritation or pain. His staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
