This place is San Antonio's little secret. I got VIP treatment without paying the VIP price. Everyone I came across was so accommodating, helpful, personable, and most importantly genuine. They deserve all the recognition they can get! Page and Miss Lisa (lady with the purple hair) both take time to really listen to your concern and find the root cause to your hair issue. A permanent solution! My hair has never felt more healthier. They take their time and don't rush you, all for a beautiful price. I mean it can't get better than this!! I enjoyed this place so much that my boyfriend and I got a facial together and let me just say the giant pimple on my face that had developed it's own identify has now deflated. This is a very late post, but I'll still share my experience. My friend recommended this place and I took a chance and made an appointment. I was seen the same day I made the appointment. I was greeted with friendly customer service and didn't wait very long before being seated. I showed my stylist(I forgot her name) exactly how I wanted my hair and she got it! She had a month left of school so she was had more practice. She was very friendly and held a nice conversation with me while working on my hair. The salon was well lit and not too crowded. They had a lot of customers, but the area was spacious. Cleanliness was on point and looked sanitary. Here is a before and after picture side by side. First time visit. I will start with the front staff not very friendly. I didn't feel welcomed at all. Let me begin with i know this is a school and they are in training. I asked for the specialty which was to include wash and style. The student began with saying I'm going to use a heater protector... I replied with wait what so you are not going to wash my hair she said it's not included so I asked her to walk with me to the front desk they said it was optional my then response was what did we discuss upon my arrival. So moving forward. She washed my hair and blow dried it pinned each piece on to wax my upper lip well that didn't go well. I still have the same Back to the chair. She flat ironed the very ends of my hair only. When I stated I couldn't reach the roots that's why I came here she said I can add some cream to lay down the fly away hairs. Well that was it I was out of there. ALSO THE MUSIC IS PLAYED LOUDLY WITH ALL TYPES INCLUDING RAP. I STILL HAVE A REALLY BAD HEADACHE. May be good for some but not all. I wish them the best. It is a great place to get a haircut. Under instructor's supervision and guidance, I have received lots of great haircuts. I like that I can walk-in and be attend within 15 minutes. I logged on to my sons yelp account just to write this review because I am absolutely appalled!!!!!Christella at the front desk has an absolutely vile attitude and I will not be coming back for facials with my daughter or sister again after witnessing her treat a student so poorly!!! A student asked her for help with something and she very noticeably turned around, rolled her eyes followed by a plain and simple "I don't know. You have to figure that out yourself." I could not believe it!! Not good..... showed a photo of my previous haircut and color from a regular salon that had grown out.... asked 3 people there if they could do the same thing...... they all said yes.....i was there for 2.5 hrs..... color not right... they did it again.... still not right..... they blamed my hair being too brown.... yet i had a photo showing my hair style and color from the other place that was perfect where i had no problems.... I tipped the girl for her efforts but won't go back again.... I now have to pay another salon to fix it and i have to walk around with yellow hair cuz they cant fix the color yet or my hair could get totally damaged...also since they cut my hair so short i won't have any lift..... I went to school here and they have good instructors but their administration sucks ! they care about new comers who first start but they give graduates such a difficult time when it comes to graduating. they don't mention when or how you will graduate. After a week... Update: I've washed my hair only once over a week since they did it and it's already an orange color on the front. And super damaged looking. As much as I'd want to recommend this place my hair is so damaged. I can't do anything fix it and my babyshower is in a few days. Don't know why they didn't just show me how to improve my hair and get it all one color instead of insisting I do something to it. Regardless I think if you find a good stylist you could have a good experience but you never know what you are going to get. This would be a five-star review, if I were only evaluating the work done on my hair. I'm satisfied with my root bleaching. It's a little more yellow than I wanted, but I understand that there's only so much you can do to dark, dark brown hair at one time without frying it, so I am satisfied with the results, and the hairstyle is nice. The problem is with the student stylist's attitude and actions. I had two of them partnered on my hair, and one of them was nice; a little unobtrusive, but I have nothing negative to say about her. The other one, well, she was more effusive, which is good, but she kept pointedly mentioning her tip, which was very, very bad. How she hoped she got a good tip, how she had no cash, how she needed coffee but she couldn't get any because she had no cash, how she was a single mother so she was always broke, how she was hungry and needed a tip. It was extremely off-putting, and made me want to not leave a tip at all. I did, 20%, because the work was done, but she seemed sullen once she saw how much that would be split between both students. Also, at one point, she took a cigarette break and came back reeking of smoke, which was unpleasant to have in my personal space. Bottom line, I'll come to the Ogle School again, but I want a different stylist. read more

I understand that this is a training facility, but for God's sake if you are a student and you don't know what the He** you are doing put down your tools and go find a more experienced student or an instructor. My hair was butchered beyond repair. Even a 30 year experienced instructor could not fix the hot mess that I got stuck with today. As a business owner i have to have a processional cut to meet clients with. I came out looking like Charlie Chaplin in his Hitler speech. Due to the slow growth of my hair it will take over 3 months to grow this back to a stubble length. It will take 6 months to grow back to a cutting length. Military crew cuts are longer than what I ended up with. There are no words to express how angry i am with the lack of supervision this student had. And there are fewer words to express how befuddled I am at the student for not stopping and getting some help. He completely refused to accept responsibility for him getting in over his head. read more

I came in today during my lunch break to purchase 3 brisket taco plates for myself & other coworkers of mine. I was treated very poorly by the girl serving the brisket tacos and was given rude unnecessary remarks by her and the girl taking the money. As someone who is paying money to their plate sale I find this ridiculous and unacceptable. If this is how they treat the public maybe they should be taught a few classes on basic manners and common courtesy. I have been here twice and the girls do a great job with a cut and color. The real surprise was the facial, so relaxing and professional.

I've been a client since 2012 (when the school opened). Wrote a glowing review back then, thought it was time to update. Spend fours hours here yesterday, partial highlight, and a 'perimeter hair cut'. The good news, the students are still very interested in doing a great job, and are engaging, funny, and sincere in their efforts. The floor instructors are there to guide, counsel and help students do their best, while learning. As a client, it is refreshing to see these positive interactions, and besides taking twice as long as a salon, it is overall STILL a good experience. The downside, the 'new pricing'. In the last year, they brought in a Mgr from the Dallas location. 20.00 more for ANY service IF you have long hair?? So a hair cut, typically 9.00, 29.00; partial highlight (12 foils) 25.00, now 45.00, and so on. SO disappointed to have shown loyalty and given referral biz to now have to start looking for another school to support. Maybe this pricing works in Dallas-not in San Antonio. read more

The WORST haircut I have ever received. I have been going to 'schools' to get my haircut for years and sometimes you do get a particularly dim person who can't seem to understand what you want, but usually you get what you ask for. NOT here.....I left there with a patch of hair that was at least 5 inches shorter than anywhere else on my head. One side longer overall bangs cut unevenly.....a terrible hair cut. I couldn't resist a $19 full highlight from groupon so I decided to take a chance. So glad I did! The guy I had was great and very personable. I felt very comfortable and trusted he would do a great job with my color. It turned out so well and so cheap! I'm usually pay around $125 for a partial highlight and color. I spent probably around 50 including purchasing 2 products. My only drawback was the amount of time. It took most of my morning and they didn't have any refreshments. I think they should at least have water to offer clients. Worth the money! Just be patient, bring some water, and you should be good! Days later I'm realizing my color is just not blonde enough. Not sure if I wasn't clear enough or not, but probably need to get additional color to brighten it up. Not one person noticed so that kinda explains it all. Ive been going to Ogle since moving to San Antonio 2 years ago and generally have a good experience. It really good for a college student on a budget, like I am. You cant really beat an $9 haircut and blowdry. The haircuts usually take longer than at a regular salon but thats reasonable because they are students that are learning. I had a balayage done there that was fantastic (and only $80.) Recently, the last 6 months or so, the quality of my experience has been going down. They added an extra $10 charge for long hair, brining my total to $19 instead of $9. The wait in the lobby has been longer and there seems to be less instructors on the floor. I don't know if this is due to budget cuts or not, but i've definitely noticed. I just left the salon today, a monday, for my boyfriend and I to both get haircuts. I'm going on a trip to vegas next week and wanted to get rid of the dead ends. We walked in at 12:15, waited 15 mins to be taken back to the room, and ended up not being done with our services until 2:30 (him) and 2:50 (me.) My girl was very nice, a little too chatty, but enthusiastic. Both of our stylists were phase 2 which means they are the least experienced students that take clients. Because of that I expected there to be more instructors to look over them, but there were not. It took 10 mins to get one to come over and do my initial consult, and then after my student had realized that she had made a mistake on my face frame she couldn't find an instructor to come over for more than 30 mins. Because of the mistake and her attempts to fix it, and then the instructors attempt to fix it, my hair ended up having over an inch taken off of it instead of the 1/2 to 3/4 of a inch I asked for. None of this would have happened if they're was someone watching them. After over two hours of just washing and cutting my hair, it was finally somewhat even so she started my "blow dry." This consisted of her quickly going over the top of my hair with the blow dryer and then wrapping sections around her finger. I left with puffy, half wet hair. No instructor checked my before I left. I talked to the lady in charge at the front desk and she offered me 20% off which is fine, but I don't think I will go back. I think from now on ill make the drive out to Aveda. **update** The salon manager called to remedy the situation. She explained that on Monday they only have 1 class of phase 2 students that require more supervision. She was very nice and listened to all of my concerns and even offered a free facial for my trouble. I really appreciate that and will probably come back again because of it. read more

I didn't even trust them to go back to get my hair fixed. The girl who did my hair knew where absolutely nothing in the shop was. When I told her what I wanted done with my hair she gave me a sour face twice. She brought over an instructor to discuss my hair choice with me. Found out later that instructor wasn't even licensed in hair and should not have been consulting with me. The music was so loud-was told it was graduation day. Had three students doing absolutely nothing behind me but twerking and singing. Couldn't even talk to the girl doing my hair. Girl doing my hair complained multiple times about how long it was taking and how she was gonna take 5 ibuprofen and 4 excedrin when she got home. Made me feel bad for wanting my hair done. I got there at 2:30 pm and didn't leave until after 7 for a cut which looked nothing like what I asked for and a wave which left my hair just as straight as it was when I came in. 5 hours!! Girl had NO idea how to do the wave. If it wouldn't have been for Frederick helping her my hair would have been FRIED! Will not go back. Was not relaxing and was just a waste of money. came here because my fiancée recommended a friend of his... first off, the front desk lady was rude, only seemed to be happy with coworkers/students. unfortunately the staff scheduled me at the wrong time, knowing I wanted a haircut and some color they scheduled me for 7pm. an hour passed and finally someone approached me asking for what I was requesting specifically, after seeing what I wanted I was told that we were going to run into trouble (not something I wanted to hear after waiting for an hour) because it was already 8pm and the process would take long and I'd more than likely go home with orange hair. everything wouldn't be done by 10pm (which is when they close). I was told I could reschedule but after waiting to see when would be a good day to come back I just left, I had waited long enough. update: (front desk lady still wasn't too friendly) I decided to give Ogle another opportunity only because Adriana Mugili was not at fault for what happened... and I'm so glad I did! Betsy took care of me for the inconvenience and Maria was great with making sure Adriana took the right steps to get my balayage done correctly. Adriana was a great person to go to, she was very talkative (in a good way) it was an extremely long process but she always kept the conversation going... she made sure I was comfortable, asked before making any changes, recommended products and was very gentle while handling my hair. before this I had one of the worst haircuts I had ever gotten in life and she sure fixed it! The one star is for the receptionist, Michelle. This was my first time there so when I went to check in she was very rude. If she does not like her job she should work somewhere else. Her customer service was the worst I've seen a very long time. HOWEVER, once I made it to the back for my services Angela was very professional, knowledgeable and my experience with her was phenomenal! If you are looking for facial services I highly recommend asking for her. I couldn't have had a better experience with her! I've been coming to Ogle since 2012. Always have great service. From haircuts to coloring, the students are great and do awesome jobs. I do quite a bit coloring to my hair, changing colors. The instructors are great, they create a atmosphere where the students can ask questions, without fear. I went to another school before ever coming here, and the students seemed almost scared of one instructor. I have not witnessed that here. read more

Idc what I say on here cause this is how I feel and what's true, just like the review below said, this school lies and everything is switch up. I had to make an anonymous account cause if they see my name they will try to make me take it off and even kick me out school since I'm still in school. Dress code is ridiculous, they say all black clothes (no scrubs) but there's multiple girls wearing them and they don't get kicked out cause the teachers pick favorites. The instructors are , ms. S is a B and didn't teach our phase anything proper and was always gone, she was always nowhere to be found. ms. N expects you to be the best just by showing you one demo and when you ask questions she looks at you dumb, she's the one that really picks favorites cause if you aren't bringing in clients she literally tells you you aren't gonna make it in the real world when you literally just don't have a client that day like im just starting out? and she's one of those people that think just because you say something back at them/correct them, they think your talking back and gets offended. And the girl with the lips (not even tryna be mean since I have filler but her lips are f up) that is a "helper" doesn't really help you, she acts like she's there for you but shes not she will throw you under bus so quick and will try to kick you out to go home. You spend about 14k here and get supplies and there's basically nothing for esthetics that is nice. PLEASE just go somewhere else than here I promise you will hate it. I was impressed at how busy the salon was and how everything seemed to run like a well-oiled machine. I've had tape-in extensions put in..something the student and supervisor wanted her to try. She did great. I've also had facial spa services and noticed a great change in my skin.
