Former esthetician student here! Posting anonymously as this place will do any and everything to penalize you for being honest. This school is a disgusting excuse of an esthetics program. There are 4 phases, after phase 1 your shown maybe 1-2 demos and then you're left on your own. Many of my days were spent aimlessly scrolling on my computer or phone. If you try to ask your instructor (specifically Ms.Vicky and Ms.Noriega) to practice any of the services we provide, they'll shut you down immediately. Practicing is only encouraged when it's with a PAYING client. Which is insane because if you need to practice something there is NO reason or RIGHT for the client to be the 'guinea pig'. I understand this is a school but it is beyond insane for them to allow us to do things for the very first time on a paying client. The education is subpar and word for word Ms.Maria (the head of this location) said in an email "you are adult learners you have to learn on your own time". Which is insane because we spend ALOT of money to be here. On multiple occasions teachers have told us "oh thats wrong! Forget that part!" But, will have us study it for an exam.....very counterproductive. If I knew this was the case I would've spent far less money elsewhere and did a self-taught program. The spa is disgusting. As a student i've seen everything first hand. Surfaces are dusty and rarely deep cleaned. The sinks are so dirty that the faucet won't flow due to buildup in the pipes. The sheets and towels are horribly stained and sometimes smell like they've been sitting wet in the washer for too long. I've had 2 clients walk out on a service due to the appearance of our supplies. The entire time I was here, my classmate was the only one to pull machines out from the wall, wipe down surfaces, and restock products.The wax we use is dirt cheap and our kits are a sad excuse for the amount of money we're paying to be here. Now for the instructors. Phase 1 Ms.Brenda is very kind but you can tell she's scared of the other instructors. She had thrown myself and another student under the bus due to fear of blowback from the Phase 4 teacher. Honestly, I can't blame her but, lying constantly to save yourself is crazy in a student centered environment. The phase 3 and 4 instructors are the most disrespectful human beings i've ever met. Ms.Vicky is wildly inappropriate, condescending, and a bully. During my time here, she spoke badly about other students on multiple occasions (which eventually gets back to said student). She joked about drug use & suicide on multiple occasions too. Students who attempted to reason with her or correct her were penalized by their grades being docked. Not only this but she picks her favorites and if you're not one of them, good luck. Oh! And if you try to bring these concerns to the higher ups they will do any and everything to defend their employees. The directors are FAR from unbiased and will say anything to defend the inappropriate and disgusting behavior of their staff. Phase 3 Ms.Noriega is disrespectful, rude, nasty, and every mean word in the book. She genuinely had me wanting to drop this program and go to a different school. I don't mean this lightly, I spent many nights crying wondering why I'm not good enough as a result of her sadistic comments towards myself and other students. Not only this but, she has belittled a few of my classmates IN FRONT of their clients. She has zero respect for anyone. She holds everyone but herself to a high standard. She expects to be respected but treats her students like they're lesser than her. It's sad because the majority of the students approach her with the utmost respect but, like I had mentioned, she doesn't respect anybody in this school so it's often met with an angry response or belittling comment. Ms.Noriega also spoke very badly about her coworker Ms.Vicky for the entire duration of our time with her...absolutely unprofessional and not appropriate. Not to mention, she's getting too old for this job. She accidentally gave me chemical burns during my time here by approving the application of vitamin A to my face less than a week after a chemical peel. And yes, she was aware of my chemical peel as I spoke to her about it before my facial as I was concerned.....this is a BASIC esthetic concept and her neglect/forgetfulness is going to eventually end in a lawsuit. Now for the management, god forbid I even speak to them because I'm sure they'll be trying to contact me after this is posted. Ms.Sylvia is terrible. She doesn't believe complaints and will always side with her staff. I've tried to speak with her in regards to the way myself and others were treated but NOTHING ever came of it. If you try to escalate it to TDLR they will tell you to speak to your director. Ms.Sylvia is the director so, therefore, good luck trying to get any complaint against her resolved. We proceeded to talk about the style I wanted and an instructor came to confirm. The instructor comes by a few times to check on the progress which is great. Payton F. did an amazing job. Came in without an appointment around noon today and got to see a hairdresser surprisingly fast, within 30 minutes. Nicky was amazing. I had my below shoulder length hair cut into a bob and added pink peekaboo highlights with a rogue strip. She took the time to really do the job right and wasn't shy about asking her instructor Star if she had any questions. Star was always nearby and quick to come to her assistance and show her things or fix minor errors she had made, putting us both at ease in the process. They both check on me throughout the process to make sure I was happy with the way things were going. I could be more pleased with the results, especially with final cost at under $50. I was out the door at under $100 with her tip and a bottle of shampoo and conditioner to keep my pink vibrant. Loved the experience and will be back. My tip to others is if you are getting hair done be prepared for several hours. I arrived at 12:15, was seated before 1, but didn't leave till after 4. I booked an appointment for an eyelash tabbing at 4pm today. I got there at 3:20 and tried to have a walk-in haircut done. I was assured several times by different people that the haircut would be done in time. However, there was some confusion with their ticket system so I had to wait 25 minutes just for them to sort out which ticket was mine. When the student who would cut my hair finally sat me at 3:45, she assured me that we would be done in time for my 4pm appointment. I was only getting a dry haircut so it seemed possible. However it took almost 45 minutes for her to cut my hair in its dry state. And the haircut was not what I wanted; I asked for an A-line cut with layers. I specifically said I wanted it longer in the front and shorter in the back, but she gave me the same length all around. I would not get a haircut here again, unless you are okay with mistakes like that. The eyelash tabbing went well, and I would get a service like that done again. It seems like a really good value for what you are getting (especially compared to eyelash extensions!). The tabbing is much cheaper and lasts about as long. read more

There are very few instructors that go above and beyond. Mostly my experience was the instructors did the bare minimum or had an outdated perspective. Ms Helen, Ms Kasey, Ms O, and a new instructor I had the pleasure of being taught by for 3 weeks in day time Ms Christina were so incredibly supportive, informative, made learning fun. There's a lot of info to take in, in such short time there should definitely be more attention out in making the classroom more interactive. Take clients it's so important but be prepared to haul your own sheets, headbands, etc and be sure to sanitize equipment before using EVERYTHING. Again some teachers do not worry about stressing with actually teaching. Cleanliness being one thing. All the sheets look so dirty and stained. So do the face towels and headbands. It was embarrassing taking in clients. During the day the teacher would be showing a demo which great but did not worry about the loudness of the students while taking clients. Admin was never helpful in situations. They just have an it is what it is deal with it your $ is already in the program type of attitude. Super rude lady up front that would hassle you with attendance and payments that were not up to date and she was very confrontational by text.
