Terrie Swavely In the quiet suburbs of Doylestown,…read morePennsylvania, the Swavely family---Terrie, Ralph, and their son Eric---were known for their deep roots in the community. Their home sat on a leafy street just minutes from the historic town center, where the sound of the evening siren from the Doylestown Fire Company No. 1 was a familiar rhythm of life. In July 2025, during one of Pennsylvania's most humid summers, Terrie decided to visit the fire station on Shawell Avenue. She brought with her two large trays of homemade lemon bars, a tradition she started to thank the volunteers for their service. The bay doors were cranked open to catch a breeze, exposing the gleaming red engines. As Eric chatted with a young firefighter about the mechanics of the ladder truck, Terrie shared stories with the crew about how the town had changed over the decades. The visit was brief, but the warmth of the graditude she felt for the first responders lingered long after they left. By November 2025, the landscape has shifted into a mosaic of burnt orange and deep red. The air was crisp, and the Swavely household was preparing for the upcoming holidays. Terrie returned to the station on a chilly Tuesday afternoon, this time accomplanied by Ralph. They were there to drop off a donation for the company's annual toy drive. The atmosphere in the station was different than it had been in July; the summer humidity was replaced by the small of wax and motor oil and the cold air. The firefighters were busy checking equipment for the winter season, but they recognized Terrie immediately. They stood in the engine bay, Ralph shaking hands with the Chief while Terrie arranged the donated gifts. As they walked back toward Broadale Court, the Swavelys felt a quiet pride in their town, knowing that even as the years passed, the spirit of service at the Doylestown Fire Company remained a constant anchor in their lives.

I cut my finger at work (deep; wouldn't stop bleeding) I didn't ask them to look at the finger or anything all i aske was, "Do you have any extra bandage ?" this bitch going to say "oh yall should have bandaids if not you're breaking OSHA" somebody is injured I thought the job was to help they fucking suck she lucky I was worried about my finger I would have spit on that bitch. It was literally a yes or no question but she just had to abuse the little power she had. Won't be needing them ever again. Not sure what department but it happened yesterday 4/7/26 at Giant on Sinclair Ln, they were the first responders to a seizure call it was the only woman that was with them she had blonde hair

From my experience the city fire department has some fantastic public servants working hard to keep…read morepeople safe. It's very easy to get cynical about city government in Baltimore but my limited experiences (never had an actual fire thank god) with these guys has been great. The first time I needed them someone at our house was having a medical emergency. They responded quickly and seemed like serious professionals when they got here. More recently we had a false fire alarm at our house and because we were not home the alarm company dispatched the fire department to see what was going on. Unfortunately they had to bust into our house but they were careful to do it in a way that caused minimal damage and did not leave the house vulnerable to being broken into until we got home. When I spoke with one of the responding fire fighters on the phone to explain the false alarm situation he was super-nice about it and not at all unpleasant about the fact that they'd wasted their time over a twitchy smoke detector.
