My female Captain was amazing. Her name was Allison or Alissa but she is definitely a Ocean Baddie!!! We got to see one whale breach and then he just showed his tail but we did see a lot of dolphins and seals. She was very knowledgeable and just had good energy. It was cold and not sunny but we cant control the weather or animals. I love the small group and the advantage its gives to actually see the wildlife without trying to get a good spot. Incredible Morning Dolphin Tour with Captain Ray! I booked the morning small group tour with my sister, and it turned out to be just the two of us and our captain, Ray such a special and intimate experience! Ray was incredibly passionate and knowledgeable. We really appreciated the way he shared facts and explained everything in such an engaging way. While we didn't get to see a whale, we were lucky enough to encounter a massive pod of dolphins -- probably 30 to 50 of them -- swimming so close to our boat! The moment of scanning the open sea and suddenly finding such a large group of dolphins in their natural habitat was absolutely magical. The whole experience went beyond our expectations. Me and my mom came on a trip to San Diego, when I learned it was blue whale season when we would be there I knew we had to go! We are VERY prone to seasickness, so of course I did extensive research on which type of boat we should go with, what company etc. we came across Offshore and it was the right choice!! Neither me nor my mom got seasick at all, we were on a small RIB, but honestly so much better than the bigger boats due to them because of the speed of the boat, the intimate style tour (only 6 people), and how much closer you could get to the animals. Unfortunately, we weren't able to see any blue whales but we did see a mom and baby gray whale which was super rare for this time of year. The company has good status with other tour boats so they radio each other when they see something which is awesome. We also ended up seeing about a thousand dolphins and they were swimming right under our boat! Our captain Brian was awesome, always checking on us to make sure we weren't nauseous or scared. Amazing! If you want a personalized, small boat experience this is the place to go for San Diego whale watching! Captain CiCi is awesome, very knowledgeable and experienced, and is willing to "put in the work" to find the wildlife. This is an experience you won't get on a large "cattle boat" tour. While it's never guaranteed you will find the whales (or any wildlife for that matter), Captain Cici communicates with other captains and is willing to move around to sighting areas. On our trip we saw a lone blue, a group of 3 blues, a humpback that gave a great breaching show, several pods of common and bottlenose dolphin, and a bonus Mola Mola (Sunfish). This was by far the best and most productive whale watching trip we have been on. Highly recommend! read more

We had a blast on our whale watching tour. Captain Morgan was awesome and was determined to find us some whales even if it meant staying out a little longer. Didn't realize it was such a small boat because we booked last minute and didn't even think to ask but it was great to have a small group of 6. I feel like we got to see so much more than we would have on one of the big whale watching boats and it was much more personal. The life vests were great too. Not super bulky like some of them I've had to wear. My favorite was getting up close to the dolphins. Such a sight to see! Loved every minute. read more

Fun, personalized experience. We were greeted by the Captain and escorted to the vessel. Before we boarded the RHIB, we had a quick safety briefing and we're given our life jackets. For adults, they have the auto-inflating style, so they aren't bulky. We headed out of Mission Bay and went north up the coast. Our Captain worked hard to find a large pod of dolphins, and we spent a while observing them. This was a peak human experience. Watching the dolphins from a small RHIB was an awesome experience in every sense of the word. We've been on whale/dolphin watching tours on larger vessels, and this beat that experience hands-down. read more

Small boat, very safe, 5 passengers, we were all 3 in the front, friendly captain provided lots of interesting information. We couldn't find whales but he spotted and tracked for over 40 minutes a pod of 1500 dolphins. It was great riding with them. All around, under and in front of the boat. Top experience for us in San Diego. I have to recommend this to ANYONE and EVERYONE who comes to San Diego. I was lucky to do a similar experience in Hawaii but my time here in San Diego just surpassed that. From my phone calls to the lovely owner to understand what is a good time to go to the actual captain who's wealth of knowledge and fun attitude put our time on the ocean at the top of my list. I will say this... this is all about observing nature. So sometimes nature may bless you with whale sights and a thousands of dolphins doing handstands. Other times, it may give you the beautiful blue sea and the occasional sighting of the common "foilus balloonisicus" aka... terrible foil balloons released and dropped into the ocean as garbage. We got pretty lucky on our adventure. To start ... this is a true adventure. You will sit in a smaller boat that is meant to go fast and keep up with dolphins. We got a private tour ... yeah lucky. No one else book the time we asked for. For those who have a sore back or get sea sick easily... this might be the boat for you. Our captain moved the boat swiftly and smoothly but its still riding quickly over the waves in search of the wonderful animals. As I mentioned, the owner and captain are 10++/5. They're always pleasant, happy, willing to accommodate, follow up, and probably do a handstand if you asked. Ok maybe not but they're great. We learned SO SOOOOO much about dolphins as we were riding with them and watching them as they were beside us. We got to have these dolphins within a foot of our boot as we sped with them. Our first sighting was adorable as we say a calf and mom swimming gently. It was a fairly small pod with only 5 dolphins swimming casually about. What was mind blowing was that we encountered a stampede. I had no idea this was a real thing but let me tell you that if you have this, enjoy... every... minute. On the horizon, you'll see tons of light flickering off what it seems a flurry of random water splashes in these small bursts. Soon you'll realize that you're staring at HUNDREDs of dolphins who are all swimming at top speeds across the ocean waves. It was amazing as we joined in and followed along with them. Within seconds the dolphins would start 'playing' with us by swimming right under our helm and surface right beside us and dive under again to swim left then right of us. It was completely amazing to see these incredible animals up close. We did this easily for a better part of 90 minutes. We didn't get to see any whales that day but honestly being so close to the dolphins and in that massive stampede was a complete highlight of my trip to San Diego thanks to the careful and wonderful service and mother nature showing us the playful nature of the dolphins. read more

Fantastic experience on the morning tour! Captain Peter was an experienced seaman and great host who made our family of five feel comfortable, knowledgeable, involved, and not like the tourists we were! He was a friendly part of our experience but did not dominate our time at all. We saw a blue whale (!!) along with common dolphins and bottlenose dolphins, and that, coupled with Peter and customized nature of our time, made this a totally memorable experience. This was easily above and beyond standing on a large boat with a hundred other people--it was your own personal guided tour. Highly recommend! read more

Came across this company via random google search. It appealed to me to take note. I was able to book without difficulty and was promptly contacted to assure confirmation. This team knows their stuff and gladly enjoys to share their knowledge. I choiced the sunset excursion and eagerly awaited our departure time. Their equipment current and clean. Plenty of spacing for a captain and 4 passengers. They do have a dry box on the boat but best to leave big items on shore. Christine piloted the boat. She maneuvered well across the swells and was attentive to all on the boat. Her knowledge about the area including the marine-life was deep. Appropriately mindful of conservation of the ocean and retrieved trash from the waters that could have led to harmful effects. Saw handful of blue whales, large pods of dolphins and variety of birds. We went on the Offshore Blue Adventures whale watching and dolphin tour and it was absolutely amazing. Christine our captain was very humble and knowledgeable in operating the vessel, reading both the waters the wildlife. And was very respectful to the curious sea life that approached us. With that said our novices camera skills don't even do the trip justices as we saw two different types of dolphins, large pods surrounding us from adults to babies. Pretty amazing. Both the times I visited San Diego, I have done tours with them, and absolutely love them! The first time (in June 2017) we saw 3 whales (2 Blue whales and 1 Finback whale), a megapod of dolphins, and a Mako shark (was late to turn, so only saw part of the tail)!! Seeing the whales and the megapod was surreal! The captain of our boat went above and beyond to chase the dolphins, who had gone far out in the ocean by the time we started chasing them. But we finally caught and then every direction we turned, we could see so many dolphins leaping out of the water constantly. It was simply one of the best days of my life! On the second trip (Dec 2018), we, unfortunately, did not see any whales. But, we did see 2 types of dolphins. And seeing the Pacific White Sided dolphins was so exciting! Though they are shy, they came close and we could see them clearly, while they kept passing under our boat. All in all, highly recommend them! The boats are small, so they are more agile in moving and chasing the whales and dolphins. Also, the ride on the sea is so much more fun than bigger commercial boats. read more

We went on the Classic Whale & Dolphin Tours with Offshore Blue Adventures and had a wonderful experience. Our captain, Liz, was the perfect match for us, passionate about marine life, full of knowledge and ready to share! Offshore Blue Adventures is a small business and you feel like your tour is very personalized. There's no guarantee that you will see whales (though we did; Liz was determined!), but you'll see lots of other amazing nature and Liz gives great information on all of it. We spent time surrounded by a pod of dolphins as they fed, watching sea lions play, and learning about the ever present birds. It would have been a full and amazing outing even if we hadn't located the whale. It is good to know that you will be on a small (6 passenger maximum) boat - LOTS of fun, but don't be surprised. If your party is smaller than six, you might be joined by other passengers. Take plenty of clothes to layer - it's colder on the water! read more

We went on an afternoon tour and Christine was our captain. She is absolutely spectacular! We were able to see 3 Humpback whales, hundreds of dolphins, and a group of seasons. Christine also shared her abundance of knowledge regarding sea life. Don't waste your money on a large tour boat, this boat only holds 6 people so it's a much more personal experience. I'll definitely be return when I have friends and family visiting the San Diego area. After returning to the dock we asked Christine for a restaurant recommendation for dinner. Our group of six had a wonderful time with Christine and her pup on a beautiful Friday morning. She welcomed us and treated us like family.
